Volkmar was in the Steel Fortress. A local man hired him to hunt down a thief that has been stealing his products. He sat across the street and watch the shop to see if the thief would strike again. He Grabbed an apple and started to eat it. "Come on, show up." he said to himself.

A young man kneeled down beside Volkmar, giving him a quizzical look as to why he was focused on the shop with such intent. "You know, if you want to buy something from there you're gonna have to go up to the shop. Sitting here concentrating won't do you much good," Ingway said in a smarmy tone with a grin on his face, thinking himself clever for the remark.

"Well, What I want is not in there yet." He said a little startled. He grabbed a knife that was on his side, but hidden from looking eyes. "It is suppose to be in later. Now why are you over here?"

INgway was used to reading a person body language and could tell by the placement of the mans arm and his mood that his hand had moved to some hidden utencil.
"There's no need to get worked up. This is a shopping district, so one would most easily deduce that I am shopping. And what, prey tell, are you waiting for this store to have in stock?"

"If I tell you what I am waiting for, then You or one of your friends could go in there and steal what I wanted to get." Volkmar said.

Ingway may have been a thief, but to lump him in with the other derelict masses that were forced to steal from small shops was insulting.
"Please refrain from lumping me in with such degenerates, it is insulting enough being branded a thief by some stranger, but to then question my status by look alone is deplorable. I am simply an archeologist stopping by to restock on the basic amenities. So I'm assuming from your outburst that your watching this shop for the purpose of stopping miscreants from stealing, yes?"

"I never said that you were a thief, All I said was that someone was going to buy the product before me if I tell you what it is." Volkmar said "So, you guess correctly, now I must assume that you do more than Archeology."

((Thank you. Sorry for being a pain.)) "Yes, I'm also a scholar, which means I have this unique ability called "a memory." It allows me to do things like this *Ahem* and I quote, "If I tell you what I am waiting for, then you or one of your friends could go in there and steal what I wanted to get." Your words pal, not mine. Now if you'll excuse me I have more important things to do that sit here and endure your accounts of "Tu j'accuse" all day."
Ingway started to walk away, but his curiosity was being taxed by what the man could be waiting for. Deciding it couldn't hurt to go in the store and check around, he nonchalantly started to make his way toward it, hoping the stranger's paranoia wouldn't lead to some conflict.

Volkmar sat there as he walked into the store. "He is not the thief that I am after." He said as he looked inside the store. A man that the owner had described to be the thief entered a minute later or so. Volk stood up and walked in the store.

After having been in the store for a minute of so, Ingway noticed someone else enter. Giving the stranger a quick look over, he was relieved that it wasn't the paranoid fellow from before, but he could tell the man was the avaricious type; greedy and willing to do what he needed to get what he wanted.
Perhaps this man is the kind of fellow that that paranoid guy was after. I know a petty thief when I see one and this guy looks like a textbook example. Best play it safe and wait to see what transpires.
It wasn't until Volkmar entered the store that Ingway's suspicions were now nigh certain facts; it was either that or the man had come after Ingway, but that seemed unlikely based on how long the man waited to enter. Sensing conflict on the horizon, Ingway made his way to the back of the shop and watched as the distance between the two men grew shorter and shorter.

Volkmar was looking at some items when the man in question grabbed a box with of weapons and started to bolt off. Volkmar dropped what he was holding and gave chase after a while, he pulled out the knife and threw it at the thief's leg. The thief fell down and Volkmar grabbed the thief and the box.

Ingway noticed Volkmar give chase to the thievish looking fellow and decided to follow and do a little sleuthing into what it was both men wanted to badly. Easily finding Volkmar and the thief, Ingway hid in the shadows and watched, waiting to see what it was the men were both after and how this situation would pan out.

Ingway caught glimpse of the weapon for but a second, and that was all he needed to peak his interest. What kinda weapon could it be? It would have to be something good for a) the thief to steal it and b) for this other fellow to chase him with such determination.
As he contemplated what the weapons true value could be, he noticed the fallen vagrant pull out an ax and lob it toward Volkmar. See this as an opportunity to curry favor with the stranger and thus get closer to the weapon, Ingway decided it would be in his best interest to help the unwary stranger. Materializing a couple throwing knives, he fired one that collided with the ax, knocking it off it's intended trajectory and into a nearby wall, and threw the rest at the grounded rouge, catching him in several places along his throwing arm.
"I figured you might need some assistance," said Ingway, now revealed from his hiding spot. "You seemed pretty determined to catch this guy, plus I wanted to clear up any previous misunderstandings. We should probably get this guy to the proper authorities and let them deal with him, ya?"
