"Wait, so...we're not home are we? I mean, I didn't think this exactly looked like anywhere on Earth, but what's the deal then?" He turned to Donovan, hoping he would have an answer. Zeke's eyes had the smallest hint of despair tucked inside his quizzical look. He looked down at his chest for only a moment as if he was looking for something before turning back to Kouji.
"So what do you mean we aren't the first? Why would we be summoned here anyway?" The new environment filled Zeke's mind with a million questions, most of which he blurted out like his head would explode if he didn't. He had only just gotten used to understanding his world had layers upon it. The last thing he needed right now was to learn that there was a whole other world he didn't even know about. Still his artist's muse got the better of him. He surveyed the new and though frightening, still oddly peaceful topography that laid out before them. I'll have to remember this place, for when I get out of here. I'd make a great painting. He grinned at the prospect.

Kouji nodded.
"Other people have been summoned from Earth - I'm assuming that's where you're from - to come here and help fight for the cause. There's fourteen kingdoms on this world, and the leaders from thirteen of those countries have formed into a group called the Sumata that is against the government of the last, Crepusculum Regnum, or the Twilight Kingdom." He looked down at the ground, then back at the two in front of him before he continued.
"The Sumata are mostly uncaring and unjust, led by someone who wants to destroy almost everything. Since Crepusculum can't fight them and their armies off alone, they've summoned special people with the potential for great things to this world to help."
There went the extent of his knowledge, what he'd gathered from quiet listening and what he'd been told by the Prophet.

"So your saying that we've been "summoned" to fight these... Sumanta people? God this is just perfect! We were one step away, one step! Now we apparently have to save this world before we can even get..." It was then that it hit Donovan.
Scrambling, he reached in his pocket and pulled out his cellphone. Opening it, he saw the message "Mission: Save the world in the Shibuya River; Time Limit: NONE." Seeing that gave him a hint of relief along with the horrible, wrenching feeling that he had had in his gut for the last seven days. "It all makes sense now!" He said turning to Zeke. "Were still in the game. The mission wasn't to save our world from the Shibuya River; it was to find the world in the Shibuya River and save it! That's why we're still missing..." He stopped before he brought up the thought of Zeke's arms, not wanting the boy down with even more problems.

When Donovan pulled out his phone mid-sentence, Zeke realized where he was going. His declaration confirmed it, the mission had nothing to do with Shibuya, or even Earth. And it was still on. Zeke smiled weakly towards Donovan when he stopped right in the middle of his explanation, knowing exactly what he was saying and why he stopped.
Zeke's eyes hardened a bit with resolve upon understanding the situation. "It's okay Don, I get it. Kouji," He turned back towards the young warrior. "what do we have to do in order to stop these people? I assume they must be powerful enough to believe they can make their goals happen. So do we beat them with numbers? Or wait..." His mind turned to all the old manga he'd read as a kid, causing him to pause for a second. "Maybe we have to collect some mystic runes that will give us the power we need? Is that it?" The more Zeke babbled on the more enthusiastic he sounded about the whole thing.

Kouji's eyebrow raised. They sounded like Goggle-boy.
"Mystic runes? You've been reading too many comic books. They have no special weaknesses, no 'key' to undoing their power. The truth is, all the Sumata are are powerful people who were convinced to take the wrong side by a skilled manipulator... I've seen it before."
With that, he turned away sharply, standing with his back to the two and his eyes across the wilderness.
"The only way to defeat them is simply to defeat them... nothing more. They'll fall, one by one. Eventually, we'll win. We have to... because I know they won't be satisfied with Crepusculum. They'll come after Earth, too - like I said. I've seen it before."
He didn't care if they figured out that he was really from Earth. He needed to make sure these people knew the seriousness of the situation. He'd figure out what they were talking about another time, as well... they were so mysterious, they sounded just like that Dean person...
Wait. They'd also said something about Shibuya.
He shook his head to clear the thoughts. It would wait.

Zeke sombered a little upon Kouji's dismissal of his ideas. To be honest, he'd hoped it would've been something more roundabout then simple combat. The missions he'd faced in the game had always involved battling strange creatures, but Zeke didn't know if he could take the life of another human being.
But that didn't matter now. If it was true that they would eventually try and conquer Earth then he knew that he'd have to put personal feelings off in order to save everyone important to him.
"Okay, sorry about that. I can get worked up a little bit when it comes to adventuring stuff and that. So where do we go from here? It can't be just the three of us against them can it? I mean, there are others aren't there?" His voice a blend of anxiety and anticipation.

"Who's to say it's even the three of us?" Said Donovan with his attention still focused on Kouji. "We still not even sure you're who you say you are, or if you're allied with these heroes. For all we know, you could be working with these Sumata characters in an attempt to pick off people as soon as they cross over."
Donovan found it a little too convenient that someone just happened to be walking through such a barren place, and just so happened to stumble across them just as they crossed over into this "Crepusculum" place. The probability was slim, and Donovan wasn't a believer in slim probabilities.

Kouji looked from Zeke to Donovan and back. "There's not just the three of us," he stated. "Others have been summoned here from Earth to fight, and some from Crepusculum have even joined the fight. As for myself... would I have told you about the Sumata's plans, helped you out, if I worked for them? Or would I have just killed you where you stood? Despite the fact that I use a staff, I can be deadly when I need to."

"Well you sure as hell didn't help us when we were being attacked by those beasts! You just stood there, and for all we know, you were the one who placed them there. You may have Zeke warming up to you, but that counts for little in my books. I suggest you watch yourself while your with us, cause I've got my eyes on you."
Donovan, taking his gaze away from Kouji for a second to scan the surround area turns to Zeke.
"We gotta find a place to hunker down for the night, preferably a town or city or whatever they call 'em around here. We best start looking now before it gets dark...er, darker out."

He didn't bother pointing out that they had seemed to be handling themselves fairly well during that fight. It was better to just shut up around people like that - their heads were harder than solid granite. Instead, he started looking around for a cave.
"I wouldn't go into any of the towns in this area... The locals arent' very friendly, and neither are the ghosts."

Zeke kept trying to find a place to interject, but the two were going at it hard enough that he knew butting in would only make it worse. It was only when Donovan and Kouji mentioned finding shelter that Zeke chimed in. "Look Donovan, we don't know anything about this place, we don't know where to find shelter or anything really." He turned to Kouji, his trust in the young man unwavered by Donovan's words. "Will you please come with us Kouji? I don't know if you are Sumata or a Hero, but for whatever reason you seem to be wanting to help us, and we could use a friend in this world."
He'd seen enough to guess that at the very least Kouji didn't want them dead. He had only just met him, so he had no idea if they were being lured into a trap, but Zeke would take the chance. Someone has to make the first move for a connection to be made, so I'll be that person. He walked well within Kouji's range, his grin holding steady. Pulling his brush out slowly he extended it towards Kouji like an outstreched hand. "Shake on it?"

Kouji looked at the brush for a moment... then looked at Zeke carefully, and nodded. He extended a palm and placed it on the brush. "I'll come with you. A friend is a very good thing to have in this world."

Zeke was more than a bit relieved that Kouji had chose to accept his invitation. Right now he wasn't sure who needed who more, but he was more than aware that Donovan and him were lost with no guide in a brand new world before Kouji showed up. Zeke looked up at the youth, trying to see what laid beneath his calculating stare, but came up without a clue.
"Well, you guys made a good point. We're going to need shelter for the night right? Let's try and find us something. On the way though, you gotta tell me all the cool things you've seen in this place, oh and what there is to do in a place like this? Is there magic? And what about..." Zeke continued to gab on with his standard enthusiasm.

Kouji smiled.
"Alright, I'll tell you about Crepusculum. It seems to be structured a lot like Medieval Europe, or our own Feudal Era." His secret was already outta the bag. "Each country is based around a different element. Right now, we're in Guasto, land of the dead. I've been to Crepusculum, the Twilight Kingdom, Unda, kingdom of water, and Santo-Luce, kingdom of light, so far. Magic does exist, and each ruler - all but one of them making up the Sumata - is entrusted with magic fitting the element of the realm they live in."
He felt relaxed around Zeke. The cheery man seemed more like someone of his age than someone several years older, so he cheerfully (as far as Kouji could be cheerful) answered his questions. One of the things he'd learned on his previous advenure was that you have to open up to people, and you can't keep thigns locked inside. So he talked.

As the three headed down the empty plains, Zeke tried to take in as much of Kouji's knowledge as he could. He was exasperated at having to learn a whole new world and its rules all over again. Goodness knows the Game had been tiring enough to wrap his head around. He looked over at Donovan and could tell that he didn't trust Kouji at all. It didn't surprise him at all, but he hoped that the new friend they'd gained in Kouji would help Donovan to regain his trust in people once more.
His mind shifted to the mission before them both. Geez, save the world from an evil organization? I wonder if we'll have to kill anyone? What if we have to fight in a war? The ideas troubled Zeke, and he tried to put them out of his head instead enjoying the oddly bleak but beautiful horizon of Guasto. He just hoped they'd be able to find shelter before nightfall.
