"Van!" He shouted as he walked towards him, then he swung his cane for his head. "Just in case I forgot to hit you for call me Gramps." He then faced A.B.A. "A.B.A., Kain told me something just before I died. He wanted you to forget about the saints. But that doesn't matter, does it?" He sat down, and looked at his feet. "You are a grown woman, you have to make that decision. You can think I am telling you the truth, and You will listen to me, or you can think I am lying, and beat the snot out of Van right now. You can even take the road in between of the two. But what you have to do, is to decide for yourself. I do not want you to cry over a choice. All I ever wanted was for my children to have good lives, and that is all in the choices they make, they approve of it."

Van was taken aback by A.B.A. accusing him. He first decided to deal with Sonorc first. He ducked the cane and smiled. "I don't know Sonorc, you should respect your elders." Obviously not knowing what he meant, he hoped he confused the man. Van then turned back to A.B.A. and his face grew serious again. "I'm not brainwashed A.B.A., I'm old enough to see what, even though we thought we were doing was right, it wasn't. From what I heard, Kain snapped out of it at the last minute." He turned away from her, his eyes closed. "If you should also look for someone to blame... please, blame me, not them."

A.B.A. looked baffled by Sonorc's words. Had Kain really said that? Would he have? She gritted her teeth in frustration as again her ignorance of the final moments of the Saints had left her with only more questions. Yet one above all wandered to the top of the mess. Can I trust Sonorc? She was right to wonder it. With one traitor already it was less and less difficult to believe there would be more. Even more so she'd seen Sonorc had taken a liking to Nia in the days they'd shared. It all made sense.
And yet there was Van backing Sonorc up. She couldn't believe that he would betray her. She didn't want to. He had been her friend, and more for so long. They had shared secrets and dreams with each other, and she'd always felt safe with him. At least she had until now.
"Please, no more. Back off both of you." A.B.A. stooped low and heaved Paracelsus forward. It shook in her hands as she brandished the living weapon at her ex allies. "I can't, I can't believe anything anymore. I have no answers, only questions. I even tried this..." She paused as she reached into her pack and pulled out one of the black roses from the Guasto festival.
"I tried. At first to speak to Kain, then father. You know what happened?" Her eyes darted wildly back and forth. "Nothing! I couldn't speak to either of them! Why? It's suppose to summon any spirit that's died to its user, so why would neither of them speak to me?" She cried out her rhetorical question to them. She backed off a few more steps away from Van and Sonorc, fearful of what would happen next.

"A.B.A.... " Had he gone too far? Van started to take a step foreward, but thought better of it. "Then there's still hope," he finally muttered. "That means he's still alive." He felt saddened by A.B.A.s accusations, but he kept his face blank. She'll never trust you now! She'll never trust you like she trusted you before... you ran away from the tower!! A vicious voice whsipered in his head. Startled by the voice, it took several moments before he discovered that the voice was his anger. On Earth he had learned to control it, but every now and again it spoke to him. Just like it did right before I killed Father, he thought as he struggled with the anger, the only signs was that the tendons in his neck was tightening.

"Van..." Anything she could think of to say felt empty and false. Was Kain alive yet? If so, what did that mean for her father? So many years had passed, and Zelos was king now. What else could have happened?
"I... I have to go." Turning to the cover of the trees she bolted as fast as she could north. She had hoped that her allies would have shed some light on what had happened in the tower. She had hoped that the answers would reveal themselves to her. Instead all she had was questions. She knew no mere mortal would be able to help her now. She needed a higher power to guide her destiny.
She had heard rumours of a mystic that lived in the Shade Mountains of Crepusculum. A woman that could see the future. Surely she would offer A.B.A. the answers she needed, as so it was north to Ignis she ran, hoping a ship would take her to the home of that fabled woman.

Sonorc watched as she ran away. "ABA." He said, then he looked at his amulet. "Looks like my time is almost up." He then looked at Van, and said "Kain had a message for you too, He forgives you for running away. I just hope she can forgive me for being the one that put Kain to hellious... Watch over her." He closed his eyes, and a skeletal door opened up. "I must return to Phasmatis." He walked inside, and the doors closed behind him.
