Jasmine started sobbing even more, her whole body shaking. "Both of you stop it! Stop it, I don't need to be babysat! Why can't you both just talk nicely, this isn't going to do anyone any good!"
She pulled at Vincent and let out a small cry in pain, whimpering, "Papa, stop! Let go, you're hurting me!"

Upon hearing Jasmine cry out he glared red at him. "I am picking my battles, I'm saving the only real friend I ever had from her over controlling father. Now remove your hand...or I'll remove it FOR you."

"Please, Papa...I don't want to leave him..." Jasmine cried even harder, so much that she thought she was going to be sick, "please...Mother told me...she told me I had to help the warrior I found...I have to help him, Papa. Mother said, Mother trained me to do it..."

"I know what your mother said," Vincent's voice grew softer as he spoke to Jasmine, and his hold on her loosened slightly as he looked towards her with a sigh, "I know what she wanted you to do, but regardless, I still have to look out for you. And if that means I have to separate you from someone who clearly isn't up to the job of a warrior, well..."
He looked back at Andy, face hardening just as it had before. "Boy, you have to realize you and I are much in the same. We're both men, and we're both warriors. As men, the greatest thing that could ever happen to us is love. As warriors, our greatest curse is...also love," he had no respect for Andy whatsoever, but he felt compelled to share some advice with him, anyway, "I don't think you see that. Maybe you will someday, and maybe you'll understand better what position I'm in, handing my daughter over to Death itself like you're wanting me to."
He let his fingers relax, and Jasmine's wrist slid out of his grasp, yet he kept his hand on his sword and his glare was still fixed on Andy.
"You get one chance. Only one, and if I hear you've done anything to my daughter, or that you've let something happen to her, believe me boy your head is going to be hanging on my wall," Vincent snarled, and meant each and every word.

"I won't." Andy said firmly, not afraid of Vincent's threats. "nothing will happen to her."

Jasmine pulled her hand away as it was let go and she rubbed the sore spot where Vincent had been holding it. She wiped away frantically at her tears, her head now throbbing from all of the crying she'd done recently, she'd felt sick all over.
She gave not another look to Vincent as she ran past him and stood close to Andy's side.
"I believe you, Andy," she sputtered out, "w-we'll be fine because you believe in me...I believe in you...let's go. Please." She hung her head and avoided Vincent's gaze.

Vincent had nothing else he had to say to Andy, nor did he want to say anything else to him. Had it been his decision, he'd have thrown the guy on his ass on the street and put Jasmine somewhere where he'd deem her to be safer, but it didn't seem like things were going to work out that way.
"Jasmine," he spoke out to the girl who now seemed to be huddling close to Andy, "...seriously, don't just walk away and leave me like this. Everything I've ever done has been for you and your mother...I can't lose you, too."

"You idiot," Andy growled, "After what you did just now, why would she want to stay with you? You completely diregarded what she wants, or the facts that she can protect herself now."
Andy used the free hand not holding the handle of his sword to secure Jasmine near him. "Come on Jas, let's go."

For the first time in such an unpleasant situation, Jasmine actually felt like she knew what she had to do, even if she wasn't sure she wanted to. She looked at her father and could see, and hear his pleading; she knew he was afraid of being alone. She was also sure she could understand what he was feeling, knowing that all of the effort and all of the time he put to protecting her and her mother was all in vain; he lost his wife, and now he was losing his daughter, too. She felt sorry for him, and in all honesty, she didn't want to see him like this.
Yet for all of the time she took to understand what he felt, he didn't see her. He didn't know her, he didn't understand what she was feeling...he just didn't get it. She didn't quite agree with Andy running him down the way he was, but in the end Andy was right.
"I know you worry, and I know you care. But I'm really upset right now and you just don't understand. Maybe you will someday, but for now..." she looked away from Vincent then before turning around and walking away with Andy.
"Goodbye, Papa."

Vincent was left speechless, watching Jasmine turn and leave. Somehow something inside of him told him to keep fighting, keep trying - get her back. Tell her to come back, beg if he had to, just don't let her leave.
And yet there was that voice that also reminded him that try as he might, it would prove to do nothing but show how pathetic of a grown man he was as he was certain Andy wouldn't allow her to listen.
Jasmine was right, he didn't understand. Didn't understand how the words and actions of...some guy would take priority over her own father, which was another reason why Vincent would be so quick to get angry over this. She hung on to Andy, she clearly trusted him so much, and it made Vincent worry that he was either going to do something or he already had done something terrible to his daughter.
He didn't argue it, though. He shook his head as he watched her leave, and then he turned around himself and headed deeper into the city - he had a lot of thinking to do.
