Something about this almost didn't seem right, despite how much Bastien insisted that it wasn't going to be hard or have any catch to it at all. At the same time, the deal was only too good of one to really turn down...he didn't want to lose that house now that he had it. He did this for Jasmine and himself, for the family.
He wanted his family life back, afterall. Even if it was without his wife.
"...When does this job have to be done?" he finally asked after a long period of silence. One job. Lots of money, enough to help him give Jasmine a semi-normal life. That's what he wanted more than anything.

Bastien's eyes widened a little as he heard Vincent's response.
"You're actually considering it? I'd have thought you were too stubborn to take some stranger's words and actually believe them. Not that I'm lying or anything," he chuckled, "that's good, though. Really helps me a ton and I can't tell you how badly I really want this promotion. I'd appreciate it a lot if you did and I'll make sure you only get paid the very best for it, I promise."
He clapped his hands in front of him as he added in, "It'll be within the next week. I'll get things arranged, all you have to do is show up a the port and take control of the ship; I'll be with you the whole time in case something goes wrong. I can't have you dealing with people you don't know anyway, especially seeing as how this is my operation going on, right?"

"The next week? Alright, I guess...gives me time to settle in at least. It'll mean my own trip to Crepusculum will be delayed a bit but I really can't complain now can I?"
His eyes narrowed then, "...unless you are lying to me. I'll let you know now that liars usually never escape from me."

"Do you always threaten people on average like that? You know what they usually say about a man who talks big, right?" Bastien kept smiling, completely unphased by Vincent. If it oddly came down to him wanting a fight Bastien was more than willing to give him one, he could hold his own very well.
Though usually he tended to avoid situations like that. Not when there was work to be done, that is.
"I'll be waiting for you at the west port when the time comes; I'll drop in fairly soon to let you know the details of the time."
And just as quickly as he appeared, Bastien turned on his heel and marched off.

Vincent was left speechless, nothing but 'what the hell was that?' on his mind. The guy certainly didn't seem evil at all, but he was quite creepy. Didn't seem to scare easy.
Either that or Vincent was really losing his touch for intimidating people. Hmm.
Without much else to do or say himself, he looked down at the deed to his new house and smiled. Somehow he was certain things were going to work out. He really wanted them to. Who knew, perhaps this Venice guy would actually be able to help Jasmine and himself out.
With a little bit of hope in his step, he too left the scene and began his walk home.
