He stood in the rain of petals from the Mother Tree, taking in her scent, one well-bred hand carressing her bark. He was dressed oddly for a man, in a tight, sleeveless shirt edged at the bottom in lace and leggings under what appeared to be a form of skirt, though any who would dare call it that to his face would never make the mistake again. His hair swept over his shoulders, reaching just below them, and was a pale shade of tannish-pink, a shade that accented eyes as blue as the sky above him. A harp hung from his back, carved lovingly with shapes of roses along it's frame. His name was Lamuria, a feminine name, to be sure, but it was his and it fit him well, a graceful warrior with the soul of a bard.
His thoughts were poetic this afternoon. Perhaps he would compose another ballad for his beautiful Queen... or another pretty young face he happened to come across. Perhaps even for the Mother Tree, the flowers that surrounded him.

"So, you are sitting under Mother tree, and not helping out our lovely Queen?" A woman said as she walked towards him, with an angry face. "Why must you slack off and play with that silly harp?"

"Come, come now, Ruby... you have no taste for the finer things in life. Our Queen is an adult; she can handle herself. Besides, her unique affliction requires a woman's touch to soothe... certainly, I would be of little help. THe Mother Tree must be quite lonely without Her Queen to visit... I like to believe my harping is more useful here than my helping is there."
He smiled lazily, plucking at his harpstrings with long, elegant fingers. He glanced at Ruby out of the corner of one eye. "You're very pretty, but you have no appreciation for the beauty of music. I find that a very unattractive quality..."
A pleasant harmony issued from the harp once more.

"Did you forget she is pregnant and she can not stand on her feet?" She said as she looked at him, "I like your music, when it is the time to play it." She liked the tone, and started to hum it, then stopped.

He smiled. "Of course I have not forgotten... but as I said, it is a situation which requires a woman's presence. Unless you would have me harp for the queen instead of take care of her precious plants, and, of course the Mother Tree?"
He modulated into another strum, played a few more notes, composing even as he spoke, his mind elsewhere.
"Perhaps, a song to welcome the child?" A jolly sound issued from the harp, full of rejoicing. "Or... a song of the flowers she dearly loves...?" A delicate music, this time. "Or, a song to mourn the passing of our soldiers, lost in battle..." A sad tune. "Perhaps a song of the great deeds of our Lady and her Lord, and the Sumata themselves...?" And a martial, striking tone issued forth from the harp.

"I like the song of Lilith and Trucido, but..." She said, then she sat down, "This better be a good song since I am missing time taking care of Lady Lilith."

He smiled. "I'm sure Milady will be glad for some rest... and you will too."
He started to play, making up lyrics and notes on the fly, his excellent memory noting and correcting it as he went. He sang rhymes of romance, of war, of life and death, an epic ballad to present to his Lady and Lord. He closed the song with a joyous note, promising more great deeds in the future.

"That ... was beautiful..." She said, as she wiped her eyes, "... I am sure that the mother tree love it."

He smiled. "You see? Allowing the music to wash over your soul leaves you refreshed and ready to face your work. My harping is not so idle after all."
His smile touched even his eyes with a kindness that seemed almost angelic.

Ruby looked at this angelic man, and then leaned over and kissed him. "Thank you for it." she said as she checked him out.

He wasn't expecting it, but he didn't mind it.... at all.
"Ah, love, thank you for that angelic kiss... but I must warn you, I am not ready to settle down quite yet... do not break your heart on the shoals of mine. If you can weather the tide, however..."
He placed a kiss on her cheek and sent a wink into the depths of her heart.
"I will be your slave."

"And I will be..." She said, then she stopped. "No, I h-have work to do. I-I-I have to go." She was blushing as she turned around.

He laughed softly as he settled himself back down on a bench, strumming softly at the strings of his harp.

"I will never quite grasp why women become so easily infatuated with you, Lamuria." mused Malice, emerging from a path nearby. His hand rose and before him grew a living seat of tree roots. Sitting down, he noticed Lamurias harp, and reluctantly enjoyed its beauty.

Lamuria smiled at Malice.
"Why, 'tis my charm, of course!" He smiled as he lovingly eased a rippling scale from his harp. "Does it matter if I am more beautiful than handsome; that my tastes are closer to theirs than a 'proper' man's?" He chuckled. "Ah, it may indeed help my charm, for what woman, or man for that matter, does't enjoy a hint of the exotic every now and then."
