And, now that her 'challenge' was fulfilled, she used the darkness to whisk her out of range.
"Whoah, calm down, Tidus! I swear to you, I mean you no permanent harm... VOlkmar is only sleeping, I assure you. As I said, it was a challenge - if he could defeat me, he could go free; if he couldn't, I would train him in the use of his abilities. Please, believe me, at least this once!"

Tidus was pissed that she managed to avoid Blitz Ace, but asking her to trust him? What an idiot. He stood in front of Volkmar with his weapon ready.
"Believe you?! Coming from the woman who used Jasmine's voice to try and torture Andy?! Monster!" he roared, yet not attacking. "You truly to belong with the Sumata...because you're just as pig-headed, self focused, and over confident as the rest of them! This is Volkmars choice! Not yours! Who are you to go around and play puppet master huh?!"

I will let you kill me, and this I swear on my very blood, and the blood of my family, and all my ancestors, back through eternity, to the First Queen. I will never again lay a hand on you, yours, or any of the Heroes who do not attack me first; this I swear on the same oath."

"Tidus.... Xisa ordered the destruction of Volkmar's entire people. He is one of the last survivors of an ancient and proud people, destroyed by Xisa's paranoia and lust for destruction. That is why your friend wishes his destruction... and he has the power within him. But if he does not acknowledge his own power, he will die, and the rest of his people with him, because Xisa will not stop until the last of Volkmar's kind is destroyed. This is why I challenged him... because I wish to help him, no matter what you believe. Xisa's evil knows no bounds and his lust for death is as strong as that of Trucido. Yes, I am a manipulator, yes, I have broken promises, yes, I have made mistakes... but it only makes me human. Or, not human, but a living soul. I worked for Trucido because if I did not, everything you see before you would not be here today - this peaceful village would be razed to the ground, the strange forests you passed through gone in a billowing cloud of smoke as Trucido's armies marched and left not one stone atop anothr in my kingdom. So you do have reason to hate me... but please, look beyond the hate, the past, to the future. There is nothing in the future for any who follow Trucido but death by their master's hands."

Tidus was floored, he expected something like that between them but an entire village was another story. Yet he retained his skeptism still, and for good reason.
"Oh yes because we all know what a gracious person you are," Tidus said sarcastically, "So, Xisa killed Volkmar's village huh...now that I know what he fights for, I can fight alongside him all the way! And we'll do it without your 'help'. We have friends...REAL friends who will fight alongside us, fullfilling our dreams and wishes for a future for everyone. As long as we have our friends we can fight head on! No matter what the odds are or who the enemy is. You wanna gain our trust? Try respecting the wishes of others."

Vaan looked at the ground, his fists clenched, deciding not to do anything rash... but finally, he snapped. He just snapped. He turned around, put all his weight behind his fist, and punhed Tidus to the ground.
"You. Have. No. Right," he snapped. "You haven't been inside Nerezza, listening to Milady. You haven't watched her as she agonizes over what to do next. You have no idea how much Milady has done for you heroes! She took Captain Princel back after all that happened! Even if Milady betrayed Trucido herself, she didn't have to do that. She sent me out to negotiate a treaty with Queen Milestise of Crepusculum. Would she have done that if she weren't fully behind you heroes? You all seem the same! You wouldn't accept Captain Princel because she worked for Milady once. You won't accept Milady now that she is trying to prove herself. Because she used to be an enemy. Don't you believe in second chances, dammit? Or maybe it's not because she used to work for Trucido at all. Maybe you just don't trust her because she isn't human, like you are... but you're not human either, are you, no matter what you claim? You're just a dream, you said. So maybe you should try being a little more tolerant, a little more open. Maybe you should try and trust someone - might be an interesting new experience for you!"

Tidus was on his butt, clenching his fist as he stared at him. Getting to his feet and reassuming a sword stance, Vaan's speech, although if a little true, both queen and servant were missing the point.
This isn't about sides! You were going to force Volkmar to under go your training when he doesn't want it! It's no use trying to help someone who doesn't want it, and he doesn't want it! He will find out his answers on his own! And I don't care what you want from him, the only person he answers to is himself. Not you, not the heroes, not anyone."
He bent down and looped his arm around Volkmar's shoulder, hoisting the large man up. "We're through talking with you, you cannot help us. Goodbye."

She shook her head, glad in a way that Vaan had tried to defend her, but sighing at his methods.
"He agreed to the training when he agreed to the challenge. THink of it this way... if he couldn't beat me, then how could he beat Xisa? Even if you don't believe any more than he does in the black moon, you have to admit that I have a point."

"...Pancakes" Volkmar moaned as he got up. His eyes felt like anvils, as he looked around, everything was blurry. "Wha? What is going on?" He looked at his clothes, and saw the black spots on his clothes, the same color as the ground, then he looked at a womanly figure, the one that belong to Elexa. "Dammit. I lost." He did not recognized Tidus, because of the blurriness of his sight.
"Looooook, I will go, but leave Tidus alooooone. Yoooooooooou only wanted me, soooooooooo make sure he gooooooes to Crepusculum Kingdom safely. That is all I ask, if you hold him or something, I will kill you, and the rest of yooooooooour kind. Xisa can wait."

Elexa chuckled. "Of course, Volkmar. I did, after all, come here only for you. Vaan will escort him back to Crepusculum Kingdom if he so wishes; I will not force him to go anywhere against his will. We will start your training soon."

Tidus was, not only embarresed by his strange outburst, but feeling mad because he took a freakin punch to the face defending his wishes...to find out his fight was worth for nothing.
Why does he always look like an idiot, this is why everyone looks down on him...cause they all say he's useless kid.
Maybe that's what he always will be too. He let go of Volkmar and walked away.
"I don't need an guide, I'll leave myself."
He needed some time alone.

"Good. Even if you do hold him, he would escape, and kill the city like that bastard did to my city." He said, "He is a good friend." Then he started to mumble some tune of an unknown song. "Do you want him dead, the bastard? Yes, I do sweetly do!" He stumbled after he was let go, and then he fell right onto Vaan.

Tidus stopped mid-step and felt torn once again, he was embarressed and mad that he stuck up for him and it turned out Elexa winned anyway. Yet Volkmar still held him in high regard.
".....Gaaaaahhhhh!! What is it with you people?! You tell me I can go but I can't go because I have to with you right?! I have to I just have to!!" he screamed.
