Volkmar looked at the portal and then took a breath. He dived right in, but the wind got a hold of his hat and blew it backwards. He quickly turned around and grabbed it.

Kouji smirked at Donovan's answer and watched him go. There was good mettle in that man, despite his plain denials, and the resemblance of memories to what he was actually seeing made his smile widen. He called out after Donovan.
"Don't worry! I hope I'll work with you and Zeke again sometime!"
He turned toward Kouichi.
"You ready?"
"Never readier."
They turned toward the portal, took a shaky breath, and stepped.

Kara calmly walked into the slowly getting smaller group with a dignified posture. It felt like that was all she had left amyway. "Ok, what did I miss? I heard something about an emergency?"

Tidus grinned at the thought of exploring a new world, besides he'd figure Yuna wouldn't want him to turn away from these people...not that he could anyway. He walked up to the portal, ready to leap in.

And then from a distance came a scream, which got so ever-louder as the source of it came ever-closer to the few people by the portal yet.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
It would be a mystery as to how she'd even know that a portal was opened here specifically for the heroes, and for many others it would be a mystery as to why she was even there at all.
But as Tidus had stepped towards the portal the tall, thin figure of a frantic and horribly terrified Captain Lana Princel of the Nerezzan army bolted right past him and dove into the portal herself.
The last thing anyone would have heard from the captain as she leaped into the portal was her screaming, "Not Xisa! ANYONE BUT XISA!!!!"
