((Before finding Harumi, and after returning from burning the Louqe house...))
"You ever hear of these people before? The Saints?" Andy asked Jasmine, adjusting his cloak and grimacing at his healed arm. Trying to strike up a conversation, ridding the awkward air. Or trying to.

Jasmine shook her head, walking alongside Andy. It'd been so long since they were so close like this...had he really changed much? She couldn't quite put her finger on it but it was like he had...almost changed in some way or another.
Or perhaps that was just her.
"I've never heard of them before," Jasmine answered as she brushed some hair away from her eyes, "I could ask Grandmother if she knew anything, but right now I'm kind of hoping to steer clear of her for awhile. Spending several months with her is more than enough time alone with her for me, personally."
She chuckled lightly at her own comment. She really missed travelling with Andy, she'd been glued to her grandmother's side for months now. It was nice to not smell the weird old woman. Andy smelled a little of a hard-working sweat, but at least there was something about him that was a little more uh...alluring, so to say.

Andy grimaced at the thought of her grandmother, bad memories they were. His arms were getting used to the stiff bandages he used to heal himself with Jasmine gone.
"That man...Kain...he was strong...how could he do that...I couldn't even hit him."

"He was pretty powerful, wasn't he? That was scary for awhile, though at least we didn't lose anyone," she smiled up at Andy, "and we were even able to save your arm!"
Trying to be optimistic, despite the joke being morbid. Something almost didn't seem so right about that, though.
"So where'd you end up picking this up? A little bit of a mysterious look for you," Jasmine giggled as she lightly patted the cloak Andy wore, "not that that's a bad thing." She hadn't had a lot of time to really talk to him since they'd been reunited. What time did they really have, afterall? They met at Profeta's cave, ventured to the Shimmering Lake to burn the house down and pay respects to 'their' mother's grave, and then rushed off to help the heroes fight against the Saints.
Despite the raging battle against the Saints and a lot of investigating that needed to be done, Jasmine really did want to catch up with Andy, find out what he'd been up to the whole time they had been away from each other. It was silly but despite having to look after herself and ignore any past feelings for months, standing beside him made her realize that she really did miss him...and a lot more than she thought she would have, too.

"Oh this?" Andy looked down at his brown hood, "Kara made it for me, it kept me warm while I was in Ghiaccio. I was traveling with her, Gensayce, and Tempest."
It was almost like how they used to be, so why did it still feel so awkward? Or really, what the hell was he doing when they were at the Loque's. Holding her hand? It seemed like the right thing to do at the time...

"Ahhh...of course, you had said you had all run into Trucido in your travels. I bet you gave him a good beating around, despite how strong he is."
As Jasmine spoke, she looked around and her eyes widened enthusiastically at a couple of larger rocks off to the side, just looking over the edge of the mountain. With a big smile she immediately darted off towards them, beginning to climb up the side. It was a bit of a funny scene, she wasn't very much of a climber, slipping and nearly falling multiple times before she finally made her way to the top.
"I haven't done this in a long time. The last time I did, I fell off and broke my arm; Mother scolded me plenty the whole time she fixed it, calling me a clumsy girl and telling me 'If I ever hear of or catch you even going up that mountain at all by yourself again, you're going to wish one of the wolf beasts up there find you before I do!!'" she made sure to bring her voice to a higher pitch to mimic her mother, following it shortly with an amused giggle, "which I suppose is a good thing she didn't find out about the next time I wandered in the mountains by myself. I found some really pretty flowers up here and luckily, no beasts!"
She sat down on the edge of the rock, waving down at Andy.
"And then the next time after that I came up here Papa found me. You weren't there for when Mr. Uruhane took me home to Mother, but perhaps that was a good thing--we didn't go to sleep early that night and I was surprised I could still hear the next morning....come up here! You have to come see this..."

Andy laughed as she climbed to the top, watching her slip a little he tensed...but she made it up okay so no worries. Listening to her talk about her mom would have normally made him sad, but when she imitated her voice he had to laugh. Scary though, it was near the exact voice of Hala herself.
When she waved for him to come up he nodded, walking up to the rocks and climbing after her. Normally he'd do a few leaps and he was there, having mastered the ability of focusing magic around his feet to propel him, but he'd try the slow way this time. After a short climb he found his way up beside her, brushing the dust off his hands.
"Wow...now this is something...Crepusculum always looks the same wherever you go. It's either kinda brighter in the day, or a shade darker that almost imitates night. But this...wow...this is really sunset... or is it sunrise, how long have we been out here anyway?"

Jasmine giggled.
"It's sunset, and a real beautiful sunset at that. Look at that," she said as she pointed down the side of the mountain towards a patch of brown bulbs sprouting. In between the fairly ugly plants was a small black weasel-like creature crawling around, its beady red eyes barely seen as it sniffed at the ground.
"He's looking for his flowers--or I suppose it could be a girl, too--but he can't see them yet, the poor thing. It'll be really pretty when the sun goes down, those bulbs will all open up in darkness and bloom beautiful glowing flowers. That creature's an odd one, called a misel and for some reason they've got the most weird fascination with those particular flowers. They get incredibly territorial over them, too, it's scary. Their claws are incredibly sharp and they're small but they'll do a really terrible number on you if you touch what's theirs," Jasmine gave Andy a silly grin, "reminds me very much of you. You know, without the sharp teeth, claws, and the hissing."

Andy watched the creature with amusement, his face frowned as he tried to figure out what Jasmine meant by what she said. After attempting to figure it out he tried the more obvious way.
"What do you mean by that?"

Jasmine's smile widened as Andy answered and she stifled a giggle; she'd forgotten how adorable she found it when he didn't understand something.
"Just...being protective in general, especially when it comes to your friends. The misel is the same, despite looking intimidating it can be very approachable. One of my earliest memories was petting one. I don't remember how it felt...I went to grab one of the pretty flowers though and it bit me! I don't remember anything else about it, I was so small apparently it was when Papa had been living with us--Mother said she thought we were both going to lose an eye but she had a good laugh when Papa threw the misel up in the air and kicked it into the forest as it came back down," she chuckled, wishing she could remember it, "but getting a little back on topic, the misel is approachable. Get too close to its 'friends' we'll call them and it gets ready to fight you; touch its 'friends' or uproot them and it could very well try to kill you, regardless of how big and seemingly mighty you are."
Jasmine pulled her knees in under her chin then as she said, "Don't tell me you're going to argue it, are you? In some small way does that not remind you of yourself? Take it as a compliment, you're brave and confident, people feel safe around you, and once you've got your mind set on something nothing seems to be able to stop you. It's admirable and one of those things that makes you..."
She trailed off, then, her thoughts finishing her sentence for her.
'...attractive.'
Something she probably should have said, it seemed right. At the same time was it really? Maybe it wasn't, perhaps it was something she just had to get over, she wasn't entirely sure.

Andy listened Jasmine go with her story about the misel, he glanced down at the creature who was seemly sharpening his claws against some stone. Andy glanced at his own 'claw' as he did, he took his sword and laid it on his lap.
"Sharpening your claws huh little guy, trying to become stronger so you can..." he trailed off as Jasmine did too actually, he looked at her though as she left the last part of her sentence hanging in the air.
This conversation brought back a similar memory from a long time ago though, "You know...back at Earth, there's this creature, called a Lion. Lions are creatures full of pride, strength, and courage. Well, there was...a friend of mine. She once told me that I was a lion, full of pride and strength. I never forgot it really, not once in this whole time we were here."

Jasmine stared at Andy, both having trailed off and leaving them in that awkward silence for only a moment before Andy brought up the lion. She listened carefully to the description of the earth beast and smiled warmly.
"If it is true that this lion is prideful and strong, I believe you are a lion, too. Your friend is a very smart girl, lucky to have a friend like you. In the end we all want someone who will look out for us...I feel it's important that everyone take a lesson from creatures like the misel and lion--and you--work on our courage and look after each other."

Andy didn't have any words to respond with that, he stayed in silence as the light became steadily darker. The glow of the burning Loque house was more noticeable now. Andy decided to voice his thoughts.
"What do we do now?"

As the scene got darker, the flowers Jasmine had mentioned before slowly started opening up. Their pale blue-ish glow complemented the warm orange one burning below the mountain and in one way it was peaceful...yet it was spooky at the same time.
Jasmine was silent for a long moment as she thought of the answer to 'what do we do now'...in truth, she had no clue how to respond. She had no clue what they needed to do now. They were here after a long absence of each other, together, alone, and yet everything felt so horribly awkward. This wasn't what it used to be, despite how much she really craved it to be just them again like the 'old days' in truth it really wasn't. Somehow she panicked inside thinking it probably never would be the same, that something happened to the two of them that almost not damaged, but changed their friendship. Was it a good thing or a bad thing? It felt alright, it felt different being alone with Andy again but something was...definitely different.
Perhaps it was time for her to get something off her mind.
"...Hey," she started slowly, "there's something I probably should tell you...I was going to before, but...I'm sure you'd find it horribly silly."

Andy turned his head to her, his eyes full of curiosity and ready to listen to her. "What is it...is something wrong?"
Maybe he was moving to fast, to repair their friendship, they have been apart for awhile...maybe she still wasn't ready to forgive him?
