I feel like bringing this back, just 'cause. I loved Onyx's list BTW, although I heard (did not play) Odin sphere was bad.
PS3 - NA - don't have one, but I want nothing more than Demon's Souls
X box 360 - this is difficult because there really aren't any "must haves" in my opinion. at least not any that I have played. I played last remnant, and although its problems are horrible, (loading times, no flee, and battles you have to do, but there is very little reason that they are there.) the game is worth playing. Alan Wake was amazing, for the 8 hours of gameplay you are likely to get. (I exaggerate, but yeah. its too short and they could have done more with it I think.) I'm not a fan of FPSs so thats half the games out the window. I guess that leaves me with chosing Alan Wake or Tales of Vesperia, which I don't own and played "helper" with my buddy, barely playing much at all as he preferred the animals or whatever. IDK I'll go with Alan Wake.
DS - too many to choose man. this is seriously such a great system right now. TWEWY is terrific, Dragon Quest IX now, just because Co-op, Chrono Trigger Remake, Strange Journey, Devil Survivor (not quite as good IMO, but still amazing). the list goes on. I'm going to go with Dragon quest just because of the freshness of the game.
PSP - I have honestly never played one before, so it is hard to say, but I NEED to play persona so badly. (yes I'm an SMT fanboy triggered by P3)
Ps2 - I have to go with Persona 4 because I may have that as my favorite game of all time. I can't say for sure. (I realize I haven't played that many games, but oh my god it was too good.)
PS. ( I struggled to choose between P3 and P4, but P4s combat was much smoother.) maybe if I played the P3P instead I would have liked P3 more, but I didn't. I also heard they didn't do the cutscene visuals, which P3 had the best of any game I have ever played and is one of the top reasons why it would be better. I have thought on this a lot, but I never truly came to a conclusion.
I have to give Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on the SNES an honorary mention even though it is NOT the best game on the SNES because it is the game that got me into RPGs and it is just so damn cute.
