((Hello everyone, allow me to explain the schematics of this idea. This idea spawned from the thought if the cast of Allorum owned a radio station. So this AU [Alternate Universe] set of shorts formed into my head, they are short, like Sunday newspaper funnies, and are generally random with the occasional plot or two. I will try to add as much characters from the CR verse as I can. So, enjoy, and if you like this short please say so. If this seems to be a good start, I will make more, and post them as weekly as I am able to.
But enough of the description enjoy. And remember to leave your thoughts of making more.))
(Opening theme: In too deep- Sum 41)
He was more than prepared for today, he got up at 6:30 in the morning, showered, ate his breakfast, brushed his teeth (twice for safety's sake), and was out on the road by no later than 6:45. Today was a big day for him, Kevin Uruhane was just accepted as the new DJ host for the up and coming radio station “Sumata 13”. After a fifteen minute drive Kevin pulled up to the small station building, it wasn't terribly big and fancy, but it certainly wasn't a dump either. The building matched the up and coming nature of the studio's popularity.
He locked his car and stepped into the warm foyer of the station doors. Right by the doors to the station room was a young man with dirty blond hair, a gray tracksuit, and was idly sipping a cup of coffee until he saw Kevin.
“Oh hey, you the new guy?” the young man asked, Kevin nodded and he walked up to him, holding his hand out to shake. “Welcome to Sumata 13, I'm Tidus, the sports announcer.”
“Nice to meet you,” Kevin shook his hand.
“I know we don't have long till you go on air,” Tidus said, “so I'll give you the brief tour, as I said before I announce the sports.” He paused and pointed over to a window that showed the inside of a small sitting room, where a man with graying hair and a beard was sifting through a box of donuts. “And that's my buddy, Volkmar Gamlxltoe.”
Before Kevin could say anything, suddenly Volkmar began yelling out, “WHERE THE HELL ARE THE CHOCOLATE DONUTS, WHY ARE THERE NEVER ANY CHOCOLATE DONUTS HERE!?”
Volkmar picked up the box of donuts and threw them across the room, then he proceeded to kicking tables and chairs across the room yelling and ranting about the lack of chocolate donuts.
“So uh...what does he do here?” Kevin asked as he watched the man proceed to rip the shelves off the walls.
“Public relations,” Tidus answered, taking a sip of his coffee and walking to the studio doors. “Follow me.”
Kevin gave one last look at the violent 'public relations' guy in the next room, shrugged, and followed Tidus into the studio. The first thing they passed through was a small booth with a young man with bright orange hair.
“That's our music DJ, Andy Jammer.” he pointed, the orange haired kid made a halfhearted wave and continued sifting through a pile of CDs. The doors to the next room opened and out stepped this woman with long purple hair, her skirt was cut above the knee, and her blouse was opened up one too many buttons.
“That's Elexa, our assistant,” Tidus said, before quickly adding a warning. “Whatever you do don't stare at her chest.”
“Huh?” Kevin asked.
“They can suck you into a vortex and never ever let you go.” he said, soon Kevin was beginning to see what he meant as he took another look at this young sexy assistant. “Just...look somewhere else, quickly.”
“Hello boys,” Elexa spoke, pausing as the two men shot their heads in different directions, Tidus looking up at the ceiling and Kevin looking at his feet.
“Hi there I'm Kevin,” Kevin spoke, keeping his eyes trained on the ground. “I'm the new daytime DJ.”
“Elexa B'Shera, assistant to the station,” she said, waiting patiently for both boys to look at her and not elsewhere. After waiting for five minutes with no avail she sighed and walked off, once she retreated behind the door both boys sighed in relief and looked straight ahead.
“Am I gonna have to do this every time I run into her?” Kevin asked.
“Unless you wanna do nothing but stare at something you can't ever have, be my guest.” Tidus said, massaging his neck and leading Kevin into the room Elexa was in. Inside Kevin was greeted with a group of people talking amongst themselves.
“This is Kara Samrsa and Gensayce Zidjiai, these two announce the weather,” Tidus pointed to a woman with long brown hair and a man with white blond hair. “That guy with the sour look on his face is Grim Dagger, he has some therapy hour segment he does.” he pointed at a man with shocking blue hair, crushing his coffee cup like a bug. “And those two girls are our interns, Jasmine Loque and Harumi Amaterasu.” he pointed to a girl with short blonde hair and a small frame, and next to a girl with long orange hair and a very gifted bust.
“Everyone, this is our new daytime DJ, Kevin Uruhane.” Tidus stepped aside, allowing people to greet him.
“I'm gonna kill you,” Grim spoke, causing Kevin's eyes to widen.
“You're gonna WHAT?!”
“I'm just kidding!” Grim suddenly starting laughing, Kevin chuckled along nervously. “Man you should have seen your face, but seriously,” suddenly he was pointing a finger at him. “I'm gonna kill ya, and make it look like an accident.”
Kevin's eyes once again widened as Grim right then walked out of the door and disappeared, the silence hung in the room like the overhead light before Kara spoke.
“He always greets people like that,” she said, the others nodding along.
“Oh really...” Kevin said, however his brain was yelling the word: pyscho!
“So you're our new daytime DJ?” Jasmine asked, “Good thing too, we were having a hard time finding a replacement.”
“What happened to the previous DJ?” Kevin asked.
“Heart attack,” Gensayce spoke in a low calm voice. “Happened after his shift.”
“Ouch...” Kevin said, “He just had it? Suddenly?”
“Well...” Kara frowned, “Not...suddenly.”
Suddenly everyone in the entire room turned to Harumi, she sighed and shook her head, “My apartment washing machine was busted, and the station doesn't have a dryer for me to use...so I made a clothesline out front and hung my clothes there.”
Kevin's eyes widened. The guy died by getting flashed? Well, not a bad way to go...but still.
“Well you guys won't have to worry about me,” Kevin laughed, “I'm in good health.”
“Lovely to hear.”
The voice from behind him Kevin thought it had to belong to an angel, for there behind him was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Long beautiful blonde hair, like one of those goddess seen on movie screens, a goddess wearing a professional business suit.
“You're our new DJ huh,” the woman spoke.
Kevin found himself rooted where he stood and was only able to make small sounds as he stared at her.
“I'm Profeta, I'm the owner of this station.” she held her hand out to shake.
He took her hand and weakly shook it, his eyes still fixed on her face.
“I hope you enjoy your time here,” she said, releasing his hand -much to Kevin's dismay- and soon a ringtone filled the air. Profeta gasped, reached into her pocket and took out her cell phone soon she was walking away chatting away at some business deal no doubt. Kevin stood there with his hand outstretched as he held onto the spot where Profeta's hand used to be. Realizing there was a small crowd right behind him he shook his head, clearing the cobwebs, and glanced at the clock.
“It's nearly time for us to start right?” he said, alerting the others to the clock as well. “Shouldn't we get ready?”
“Oh yes of course,” Kara said, the group got up from their spots and began to head to their booths. Kevin walked into the main room and began getting himself accustomed to his new work space, as he was adjusting his chair to the right height he felt his heart go cold as Elexa B'Shera walked into the room with a cup of coffee. Remembering Tidus's advice he kept his gaze fixed on the stand in front of him.
“...May I ask what I did to insult you?” Elexa suddenly asked.
“H-huh? Oh um...nothing, nothing at all, I just um, I'm just focusing on my script.” he said, pretending to be reading his agenda as a host.
“Then why won't you look at me?” she asked, Kevin felt his gut wrench.
“Oh um...well...” he sighed, he had a hard time with lying. “I just um...I don't really want to...look at you.”
There was a brief silence before she spoke again, “Why not? Am I ugly or something?”
“What no, you're very pretty,” Kevin said, going into damage control. “It's just um, I don't really wanna be sucked into the vortex of your chest...”
“...Sucked into the what of the what?!” Elexa suddenly burst, and Kevin could sense he may have said too much.
“It's not what it seems really!” he protested, when suddenly a smile graced the assistant's face.
“Of course...I'm sorry my mistake,” she said, “Here, I brought you some coffee before you go to work.”
Kevin felt a little hesitant but tried to be friendly, “Oh really? Thank you.”
He reached out to take the cup...when Elexa promptly dumped the contents in between his legs, soon hot scorching pain shot between his legs as Kevin gave out a high yell. Everyone in the other booths looked at the scene with shock and amazement.
“You're welcome,” Elexa said, walking out of the studio as Kevin writhed in his seat.
That day the listeners were not sure what to think of the slightly high pitched voice of their new DJ talk host, and it was also the day that Kevin concluded that this was gonna be a harder job than he thought...
