Well, it's a pleasure to be here. You can call me Chris, or Christian if there's already another Chris here. Some of you may recognize me from another roleplaying board, but perhaps not. Either way, I look forward to interacting with you all here.
Character biography below. Hope I did this alright; let me know if any changes need to be made in order to be more in keeping with how things are done around here.
_____
Player:
Goes by 'Chris'.
Name:
Goes by 'Rutger'.
Description:
Slender frame, slightly pale-skinned with unkempt brown hair. Cold, dark eyes, clean-shaven. Roughly medium height. Wears a hooded red robe that splits on the sides of the legs. Has dark red pants and undershirt beneath his robe, as well as fingerless gloves and traveler's boots. His robe is belted at the waist with leather straps that hold the scabbard of his sword.
Age:
In his early twenties.
Personality:
Defined mostly by his quietness. Serious, cold and tends to hold grudges. However, he has a chivalrous side that he doesn't like to show.
Place of Origin/Home:
Hails from a faraway, foreign land called Elibe. Currently wandering without a home.
Alignment:
Lawful Neutral. Works to serve his own goals, but is bound by his principles. Can be convinced to work with others.
Occupation/Class:
Myrmidon:
Myrmidons are students of the sword who have dedicated their lives to studying the bladed arts. For all intents and purposes, they are swordsmen, but are capable of growing into a more powerful class.
Equipment:
Hero's Crest: The mark of a true swordsman. A valuable artifact that Rutger strives to be worthy of owning.
Metis's Tome: Ancient parchment that has the ability to release one's true potential.
Member's Card: A card that grants the carrier access to exclusive areas such as secret shops.
Silver Card: A card that grants the carrier a discount at most shops.
Secret Book: A tome that increases the skill of the reader.
Torch: An item used for illuminating dark areas. Increases user's field of vision when used at night or in fog.
Vulnerary: Medicine for treating injuries.
Antitoxin: Medicine for treating a variety of poisons.
Wallet: A satchel used for carrying items and money. Rutger stores most of his possessions here.
Weapons:
Killing Edge: an uncommon sword with a slight curve in the blade. Incredibly lightweight, this sword takes experience to master but deals critical damage with incredible ease.
Iron Sword: An inexpensive but remarkably durable weapon. The blade is dull, but it can withstand a lot of punishment. Used mostly as a backup weapon.
Combat:
Myrmidon Sword Style: Rutger fights with a sword and has a high proficiency fighting with any sort of sword or blade. He fights using one single-handed sword. His style revolves entirely around his agility, avoiding enemy attacks while hitting opponents before they have a chance to land any blows. Rutger tries to hit opponents with critical strikes to take them down in very few hits; when not dealing critical damage, his attacks only deal relatively average damage. He favors speed over power and usually deals many weaker strikes instead of one heavy-handed attack.
Rutger is unable to use any weapons other than a sword, though he is always capable of dodging.
Magic:
Darkness Affinity: Rutger was born under a month ruled by the Darkness element. This affects a variety of things such as his temperament and his interactions with other characters.
Rutger cannot use any magic.
Flaws:
Rutger is specialized; though incredible with a sword, he cannot use any other type of weapon and is unable to perform any magic at all. His focus on speed also takes emphasis away from defense, which is slightly lacking. While using a sword, he finds himself at a disadvantage against spears and lances, as they have greater reach, and as a result he will suffer penalties when fighting against enemies using weapons of this type.
In terms of character, Rutger has a tendency to be cold, bitter and overly focused on his goals. He has a very negative disposition.
History:
Rutger once lived in a faraway village on the plains; it was here that he first started learning the art of the sword. Training to move like the wind as the people there believed, he honed his reflexes so that none could best him in combat.
Eventually, however, war came, and an army ambushed the village and burned it to the ground. Rutger, being of mixed heritage and sharing a resemblance to his attackers, was spared from being slain because the soldiers mistook him for one of their own, but everyone else around him was cut down without mercy.
From that day forward, Rutger swore vengeance on the nation responsible for the slaughter. He took his sword and vowed to become strong enough to bring the murderous knights to justice. With that, he set out, honing his skills and searching for the means to acquire revenge.
