What happens when Allorum's greatest troublemaker visits the Big Apple? Nothing good.
Aeyara Rossignol stepped out through the portal onto a filthy crowded street. She was dressed in a bright purple sweater and blue pants, with her favorite scarf around her neck.
She looked around in surprise for a moment at the hundreds or yellow cars passing by while making the most annoying blaring sounds, though most of the people on the street didn't even seem to hear it. Then she looked up, amazed to see the humongous buildings with lights and words flashing on them.
"This... This is Earth?" she said in wonder as she continued looking around.
"Bring. It. On." she grinned and took off down the sidewalk towards one of the buildings with lots of colorful lights and pictures on the front. As she approached it, she stopped to stare at the door. It went in a circle... SO COOL!
Aey proceeded to spend the next five minutes or so spinning in the spinning door until she was too dizzy to go around again. She stumbled out and crashed into a giant...stuffed....something?
It had a long neck and brown spots all over it's yellow body. Overall, it just looked odd.
"What the heck is this?" she asked as she poked it. She stood up, holding the plush thing (was it some sort of animal?) and looked around the building. There were shelves everywhere covered with colorful boxes and packages, and more plushies all over. But what caught her attention most was the funny, mechanical contraption that looked somewhat like a wheel. It moved around and around but didn't really go anywhere, and there were people sitting on it. Mostly small, screaming children. Then again... Aey thought as she took another look around, this entire place is full of small, screaming children.
Aey wandered around the wheel for awhile before moving on, gazing in wonder at the things she saw. And glaring at little kids who threw things at her. Eventually she ended up in front of a moving staircase. After staring for a moment, she decided it was almost as cool as the spinning door and tried to get on. she promptly fell off. Thankfully the plushie took the worst of the fall, but it still hurt.
"Owowowowowww!" she whined as she got up again and frowned at the moving stairs.
"Mean! So MEAN!"
After a few minutes of watching other people get onto the staircase, Aey decided to give it another try. She carefully stepped onto the stairs, gripping the handrail tightly. When she stepped onto the second level of the building, the first thing that caught her eye was a giant animal in one corner of the store. It didn't seem to be moving, so she assumed it wasn't alive. She walked towards it carefully, noticing how scary it looked. It had scaly looking skin and sharp teeth. And a tail! As Aey got closer, wanting to poke the creature, it began suddenly to move. It's head turned, it's eyes blinked, it's tail twitched... And then it opened it's mouth.
"RRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!"
Aey screamed and hugged the plushie tightly as she ran for her life.
"It'sgonnaeatmeit'sgonnaeatmeIT'SGONNAEATME!!!" she wailed as she ran past more colorful displays and towards a pink house. I can hide in there while it eats all the little kids! she thought as she dashed up the stairs in the house (at least these ones didn't move) and hid in the corner, hiding behind the plushie.
She sat there for about half an hour, but nothing happened. No screaming of little kids being eaten, nothing. She peered out the window and everything seemed normal.
"Maybe it went the other way..." she wondered as she turned around and looked at the house... and screamed again. it was full of little people who all looked exactly the same, except for their clothes. They all had such creepy smiles!
"OhmygoddnessTHEY'REALLCLONES!!" she realized.
"It must be some evil plot to destroy Earth! I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!!!" she said as she swung her plushie (she decided she liked the colors and wanted to keep it) at one of the displays the little creepy ladies were being kept in, knocking it over as a little girl nearby began to wail. Aey knocked all the other displays down before running down the stairs, heroically kicking down anything with the clones on them. More girls began to cry and scream as she ran out of the area, screaming "DESTROY THE CLONES! I'LL SAVE THE WORLD!"
At this point there were a couple pretty angry looking people following her, so Aey decided it was time to let them take care of saving the world for a bit. She took off, hugging her plushie and giggling as she raced towards the moving stairs. There were people coming up the stairs, so she just jumped up and ran down the rail instead, thinking I am so cool. I should get an award for being this cool. She reached the ground floor and headed for the door, noticing yet more angry people running after her.
"I save their lives and they turn into an angry mob. Remind me never to have kids." she muttered as she grabbed another plushie and ran into the spinning door. She stepped out and as the door continued to spin she stuck the extra plushie in between the door and the wall, jamming the door. Then she ran, laughing and hugging her plushie.
She ran for awhile, until she was sure she wasn't being followed, then leaned against a wall, trying to catch her breath. She held her new plushie in front of her and stared at it for a long while, then smiled.
"I still don't know what you are, but you're a good friend. I think I'll name you Em!"
Aey and Em wandered the streets for an hour before wandering into another giant building. This one was almost as colorful as the last, and had all sorts of interesting clothing and things. There were shirts, sweaters, pants, bags, and even shot glasses, all with either a giant 'M' on it, or these odd yet pretty little round people with no noses and also with 'M's on their chests. The green one had really cute shoes. Soon enough Aey found a moving staircase and went on to the next floor. The first (and only) thing that caught her eye was the wall covered in giant tubes that were filled with little colorful things. A lot of people were crowded at the tubes, though she couldn't really see what they were doing. There was a bored looking woman in an 'M' shirt with a name tag that said 'Cherise', and people were going up to her and asking questions about where to go to find what, so Aey thought maybe she knew what was in the tubes. Hugging Em tightly, she walked up to the woman.
"Um, excuse me Cherise? Could you tell me what those are?" she asked as she pointed to the tubes.
Cherise looked at her like Aey was the dumbest person in the world.
"They're M&Ms."
Aey continued to look confused and Cherise continued looking annoyed as she said the next thing slowly, as if to an old person.
"Candy. You know, little sweet things you can eat?"
"OH! CANDY! YAY!" Aey squealed as she skipped over to the tubes. She watched other people take bags and fill them with 'M&M's by holding the bag under the tube and pulling a lever. Aey enthusiastically grabbed a bag and opened it. Or, tried to open it. And tried again, and again.
"Dammit! These bags are evil-er than the clones!" she muttered as she tore it. She grabbed another and tried again, unsuccessfully of course.
After the third torn bag she walked over to a woman with a baby in a stroller and asked for her. The lady laughed at her, but opened the bag before walking away, still laughing. Aeyara stuck her tongue out at the mean woman before turning back to the tubes. She held the bag under a tube and pulled the lever, quickly filling the bag with little round candies. She reached in and pulled out a blue one, inspecting it carefully before popping it in her mouth. Her eyes widened.
"This... Is the greatest thing in the world except for alcohol!" she exclaimed, literally jumping with joy as she took a small handful and shoved it in her mouth. This continued for a few more minutes, and she had to refill her bag.
As she finished filling the bag again, she saw Cherise and some other people walking towards her, looking very angry. Every time! Why do people always get mad at me? she thought as she swallowed another handful of M&Ms and headed for the moving stairs. She decided to be fancy and jump up to run down the handrail again, but she lost her footing halfway down and fell into the people going up, and accidentally dropping her bag.
"NO! MY CANDY!" she cried as she got up, then saw that many, many more people were angry at her.
"Um... Oh dear... Sorry?"
Sorry didn't help much. She ran, but somehow managed to run into a shelf of shot glasses, which shattered.
"You've gotta be kidding me!" she said, looking at the mess, and then at the small mob forming. She decided now would be a good time to make her exit.
After another few hours of walking around, hugging Em and crying about her lost M&Ms, she decided she was thirsty. She looked around and found a very fancy looking bar and snuck in (There was actually a LINE! Can you believe that?!). She found an open seat at the bar and immediately began to flirt with any single guys she saw to get them to buy her drinks. It was a very effective tactic. Eventually she was drunk enough for both her and Em, and she began to stumble towards the exit. Simultaneously, all the guys she had convinced to buy her drinks stood up. There were 8 or 9 of them, and as soon as they saw all the other guys getting ready to make a move on her, things started getting ugly. Aey was too drunk to understand most of the dialogue, but she figured they were fighting about who was going to take her home, which she would usually have found amusing but she was starting to miss Allorum. This place was so loud all the time...
The situation between the guys escalated quickly (something Aey was proud of) and soon enough they started throwing punches. Chairs flew, bottles flew, and the occasional cocktail umbrella flew as well. Aey began to head for the door, but a bunch of other people beat her to it, and nearly trampled her. She backed away from the door, looking between it and the fighting drunks. At this point she decided it wouldn't matter if she started flying. She used her magic to manipulate the air, causing her to fly. It was one of her favorite tricks, but was difficult when drunk. Hope I don't get a FUI... she thought and giggled. The bartender, who was ridiculously cute, had gone over to try and break up the fight, leaving the bar unattended. Aey swooped down gracelessly and grabbed something before escaping into the storage room and outside through a back door. She flew up into the air, clutching Em and looking at the city.
"I think that's enough for one day. Saved the world, ate some candy, started a bar fight. Yep, I'm ready to go home now." she said as she pulled out a small magic charm and used it to open a portal back to Allorum.
Aeyara Rossignol flew home quickly, a giant plushie in one hand and a bottle of tequila in the other.
