Good morning, everyone. I am wrapped up in slippers, the thickest PJ's I have, and a warm fleece blanket yet I am still freezing at this moment. Partially because I'm in the basement of this house, partially because this house's insulation system sucks. And mostly because it is just too. freaking. cold. here. We were supposed to have nice weather all week, but boy, we got the complete opposite. I think I can safely suggest that the weather idiot who predicted 3°C weather definitely got fired. Yesterday it was -38°C. As I type this, it is now -30°C, but the dreaded windchill boosts that easily to around -55°C. That's -22°F and -67°F respectively for those who follow Fahrenheit. In temperatures like this, one will pick up frost bite in less than ten minutes *waves her hand full of past victims*. In temperatures like this, one could die in an hour's time if they don't know how to dress. Head to toe, double layers, and you have to eat, as that provides heat. You have no choice but to wiggle your toes and fingers if you want them to have a chance of survival. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to southern Canada, where the wind is our enemy, yet it is capable of providing us much electricity (HOORAY FOR WIND FARMS). We are sissies compared to our fellow Canadians up north in the Yukon, Northwest, and Nunavut territories, who live in this weather (even worse) every freaking day of the year. But my god, the sight of an aurora borealis is absolutely astounding.

Well, I live in northeastern Ohio, Akron to be precise, and the weather here is what I consider unpleasant, but expected. It was a lot worse during the earlier winter months, but it is still colder than what I prefer.
Its 31° Fahrenheit which I am going to guess off the top of my head is 0 or -1° Celsius. wind chill is barely relevant, and brings it down to 22°F. converting now.... and -6°C.
Maybe its a bit hotter than usual right now, but by a very small degree. maybe just a few degrees, but I get free heat with my University housing, so its a solid 65-70°F or 36-38°C in my house at all times.
Is the extreme cold normal for this time of the year for you, or is it a storm of sorts?

D: I wish we had -6°C right now. I really, really do.
As for 'normal' temperature, this is usually what happens. We get snow in the middle of October, and the temperature from then on can either gradually drop from about a 15°C to -20°C, or it'll just plummet to whatever temperature Mother Nature decides >8(
December usually isn't too bad, though it reaches the extreme lows like this. January/February are usually the worst.
And the funny thing is that you see it's -55°C now, but it's supposed to be -2°C on Sunday. We drop from "PEOPLE ARE DYING" to "Bikini season!" in two days.
Though to clarify, we consider -2°C bikini season in comparison to the extreme cold. After a week we're begging for a 20°C, you know? The hottest it gets here is usually around 37°, but our heat spells don't last nearly as long as the cold ones.
Sorry, I'm rambling. We just had a storm the other night and we got back all the snow we just got rid of *grumble grumble* but other than that, the extreme cold is, sadly, something that is normal, and is usually expected.
Though after years of living in it, it's still not appreciated in the least.
