I'd been meaning to do this for awhile but had gotten sidetracked.
Now that this Sumata arc is coming to an end, we need to prepare for next arc. Part of this is a rule being put in place regarding the sizes of some peoples' signatures.
I really enjoy finding the greatest image ever and wanting it as my sig, we all do. Unfortunately some of those images are astronomically huge and this causes a couple of problems:
1.) Some people's machines can't handle that much image content at once.
2.) When scrolling through a thread it can become irritating to scroll through one line of text and then several blocks of images in between that one line of text. It's very unnecessary, as well as this is a text-based game where we should be reading and writing the story, not spamming it with images.
Not to mention when someone has images in their sigs that huge and have been very active, the problem becomes 20x worse when you read the "20 most recent posts" page.
Which is why we're going to start implementing a rule (for now) that limits signature sizes to no larger than 500x200pixels. That's plenty big enough right there and if any of you have received signatures from either myself or Aya, that's the size we've been using and as you can all see it works just fine.
For now we're not restricting the number of images, though we are going to ask that people please use their common sense and if they're going to pile more than one image in their sig that they at least compensate sizes so that all images together aren't spamming the signature area and thus the site as a whole.
Aya actually has the perfect example of using multiple images in a sig.
Not too long horizontally, and not too long vertically either.
Hand-in-hand is avatar sizes. There is no restriction on them, though we are going to ask that people keep them fairly reasonably sized. I'd say 150x150 is perfect but as long as you aren't wrecking the site format it really shouldn't be an issue. And so far, no one's has been.
Cool, right? Good!
To save us all hell during the short time we'll all have to prepare our characters/plots for the next arc, I'm going to say that by midnight on Tuesday, August 17th everyone will have either resized their large signatures, or replaced/removed them. Whichever you prefer. Yes, that means even the admins *looks down at Jasmine's sig as she writes this*.
Especially so, in fact. We are the leaders here afterall.
Questions? Comments? Queries? Otherwise done and done.

TL;DR - Signatures no longer allowed to be larger than 500x200pixels. Don't spam the signature area with multiple images, you have until August 17th (next Tuesday) to change your sigs if they don't fall within limits.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that if someone has an image they really really really wanna use but don't want to/can't create their own sig with it to fit, you can always PM me and I'll see what I can do with it for you
Also, Aya is also willing to make sigs for people[/b] if you ask him and bribe him, and he most likely won't bite as much as me
