The Last.
(Now it is worth noting beforehand that this story is split into, as always, three parts. It is set one thousand before the events of CR and follows the life of a master swordsman called 'Brea Cao-Wei' who was part of a warrior clan called the Itan-Sha clan. I hope to use the story to actually explain the backstory of three of my characters, Akuma Shuen (Formerly Leo's) Riliath Infernus (Also Formerly Leo's) and a character I have planned for the new arc.)
"And when he who watches his blood be spilled accepts the one who spills it. His future to surpass them begins." Laigando Sha, First Saido of the Itan-Sha
Brea was walking down the long street kicking a stone as he went. His mother and father had been belting insults and threats at him for the last half an hour and all he wanted was to escape from it all... He stopped kicking the stone eventually and sat down looking at his feet, his shoulder length spiky blonde hair was a mess from where he had to dodge his fathers fists in an awful hurry, his determined blue eyes locked onto anything in particular in the hopes that he would be able to find something, anything, that would make him smile, to no avail it seemed. Running a hand through his hair he sighed and started to walk away before wham! Someone walked right into him and both fell down onto the floor "Hey watc-" he was about to start yelling taking after his fathers temper before he saw who he was about to yell at... She was about Brea's age, 15 maybe 16 with orange hair that seemed to just flow down her back, she had pale blue eyes and a seemingly sculpted face, Brea took a gulp before she spoke "Oh... Sorry..." She blushed bright red before picking herself up, she was wearing clothes fit for battle, she wore a pair of purple boots on her feet, black tights and shorts on her legs and a shirt covered in an assortment of throwing knives with a katana on the back.
She could probably cut him to ribbons! Why was she blushing..? "Er, no, I should be the sorry one..." Brea said standing up and brushing himself off before offering his hand "Brea" he said "Brea Cao-Wei" the girl took his hand and shook it gratefully "Alta Frai" she replied, even though the greetings had been and gone she was still holding his hand, Brea looked down at their interlocked fingers and his face turned a bright red before he quickly released her hand "So, er, where are you from?" Before Alta could answer a voice seemingly boomed out of nowhere "Alta!" Brea jumped before looking behind him at a giant of a man, he had to be at least seven feet tall! He wore dark black armour and his face was heavily tanned "Oh! Faharaia!" Alta said blushing again "How are you?" She took a deep bow to the man who simply waved her up "I am fine Alta, who is your friend here?" He raised an eyebrow at Brea as if looking him up and down "Is he a fighter?" Alta made a humming noise before turning to Brea "A-Are you a fighter..?" She asked repeating the mans question.
"Erm, Well I mean my dad has taught me a few things..." he said scratching the back of his head looking from Alta to Faharaia "Why..?" he asked as both seemed to 'um and ah' over something before they wandered away to whisper to one another before Alta took another step back towards Brea "Brea" she started "Me and my friend here are part of a warrior clan called the Itan-Sha, have you ever heard of them?" Brea took a deep breath and took a step back "The Itan-Sha?!" He stated "As in The Heretics Of The Land, Itan-Sha?!" He saw Alta's face fall slightly "Yes... That's what some call us..." Faharia stepped forwards "Now listen here boy! The one's you call gods are nothing! They are cowards who do nothing for the land and we are the real protectors!" Brea gulped and took another step back "O-Okay..." he mumbled looking towards Alta "I mean, I'm not one to judge, my dad isn't exactly the nicest of guys!" He said pointing to a small cut on the side of his head hidden under his hair, this seemed to outrage Faharaia which in turn scared Brea even more, but Alta seemed unfazed by the man "So he's a child-beater eh?!" he roared "Why I never! Where is this scum of Allorum eh?! I'll show him a thing or two! Or Three! Or I might even push the boundries and show him four things!" he grabbed Brea's dark blue shirt "Head back home boy! We're going to have a word with your father! Or maybe tw-" "Okay Fa, we get it..." Alta interjected before motioning at Brea with a smile and a nod to start heading home.
As he walked Brea tried to comprehend what was happening, his father (who was a loyalist to Duo) was about to have two warriors of a clan of, as he had been told, murderous, sadist swordsmen knocking on his door and what's worse, if they didn't manage to beat him senseless enough that he becomes paralyzed then the second they leave Brea will get the beating of a lifetime! Sighing he continued on his way until they were all stood infront of his small ramshackle house, the flimsy wooden door was closed tightly so walking up to it Brea lightly rapped his knuckles against it "Dad..?" He called out, Brea heard some slurred mumbling before someone falling over "Goish away!" the drunken voice called out before Brea felt Faharaia pushing him aside "Who ish you?" came a slur "Ish you the poleesh? ALL HAIL DUO!" there was more clattering as the man apparently fell over again, seemingly losing his patience Faharaia slammed a massive boot into the door sending it flying inwards, Faharaia walked in and straight up to a man lying on the floor, he looked alot like Brea but with shorter grey hair, his pupils were dialated and he seemed much more frail, Faharaia grabbed Brea's father by the collar of his shirt and effortlessley lifted him off the ground before slamming him against the wall "So you like to beat your son eh?" he demanded "Yesh... I doo..." Brea's father replied which promptly earnt him a puch in the stomach "I like to beat children beaters!" Faharaia yelled before slamming him against the wall even harder to the protestive shouts of the older man, Faharaia threw the man onto the floor before kicking him in the stomach "I hate your guts and I don't even know your name" he spat "My name... Ish Graia Cao-Wei!" he slurred before spitting out some blood
"My name is Faharaia Infernus!" Faharaia roared at Graia "And I hope you enjoy the earth" he looked at Alta who casually threw him her katana, Brea started to jog forwards shouting out "NO!" but before he could even get close to Faharaia or his father, the blade had already struck down through his fathers chest "No...!" Brea repeated collapsing to his knees next to his father who was effectivley nailed to the floor "Brea..." Graia said slowly reaching a hand out to Brea "I...I..." Brea had tears streaming down his face but suddenly his fathers hand gripped his throat and pulled his face close to his "I hate you for what you have brought upon me..." he hissed "I hope... You... Die." Suddenly his fathers grip slackened and his head lolled to the side, dead. Brea was shocked by both his fathers death and reaction, standing up he walked over to Faharaia and started pushing him to no avail "What have you done?!" He cried, tears dropping off his face as he tried to push the giant "You killed him!" he roared sniffing as he spoke, behind him Alta silently retrieved, cleaned and sheathed her katana with a solemn look on her face "Now I see why they call you heretics..." he sobbed collapsing onto his knees crying, Faharaia grabbed his collar and lifted him up, pressing his face right in front of Brea's "Now listen here boy, your father supported Duo, we do not, we hunt down and kill all of those who dare do that, we are not heretics we are saviours, we are branded heretics by those who cannot see the light." he pushed Brea away from him who landed against Alta who held him up, not forcibly but out of kindness, Brea for some reason couldn't bring himself to blame her, in a way he didn't even hate Faharaia that much for what he did "So what now...?" He growled at the man turning his head to Alta asking her to release him which she did "You just leave me here alone? Go off to fight another distant evil?" Alta took a deep breath, clearly hurt by his words, Brea wanted to turn around and apologise but he knew that he couldn't not right now. "No" Faharaia replied "You're coming with us, Alta is going to train you to be an Itan-Sha swordsman" Brea looked disgusted "And what makes me think that I want to join you..?" Alta suddenly spoke up "We can see it in your eyes. You are definatley one of us... We are not going to force you Brea Cao-Wei, but please, we need everyone we can get..." Brea turned his head slightly to face her "You... You killed my only remaining relative" Alta nodded solemnly "I know... And I apologise but this is what we do, please help us..."
a few hours later...
They had primitavley covered Graia's body with an old rug whilst Brea thought over the offer, he sighed finally before walking over to a trunk, from it he pulled out a few things, namely a blood red katana and sheath which he tied around his waist, an olive green jacket covered in pockets which he pulled over his navy blue shirt and finally a pair of thin black gloves which he placed over his hands, he walked over to Alta and nodded at her "I'm doing this not for Faharaia, not for the Itan-Sha, but for you, there's something about you..." Alta blushed slightly before handing him a navy blue headband with a small metal plate with the symbol for heretic etched into it "Welcome to the Clan, Brea Cao-Wei, Novice Heretic Swordsman." Brea tied the headband around his forehead, letting the material push his blonde spikes away from his eyes "Let's go..." Faharaia grunted before walking out the door, Alta and Brea followed behind him... It was a new beginning for Brea, he was scared, but it was an adventurous future which he was sure he would enjoy... After all, he was a heretic now.
(I have the second chapter already typed up, I'ma put it up tomorrow.)
