((That means Lana/Kouichi/Elexa if you couldn't guess ^^))
Kouichi curled up like a cat on the floor of the Moscow hotel room, the hotel bed's blankets covering him almost up to his ears. He lay there, just thinking about what had happened...
He had helped Lana get a hotel room for them, but she had refused to sleep in the bed... so, Kouichi, being the gentleman, stubbornly refused to sleep in the bed if she wouldn't. They'd both ended up on the floor.
He thought he heard something move in the shadows...

Violet eyes glowed in the pitch darkness of the hotel room, woven around the eyes' owners. She had used the Old Paths to get here, following the boy's unique energy... she wondered who and what he truly was. She watched them both, the boy and her captain, and smiled.

"Seriously, I grew up sleeping on a stone floor and getting kicked in the ribs in the middle of the night; sleeping on a soft, carpeted floor without rats is a luxury to me," Lana grumbled, sitting up yet with her back against the wall, "you will wreck your back if you do not rest it properly."
The guy was so weird, insisting he 'had' to sleep on the floor like he was. In a way it annoyed Lana and at the same time it interested her as she'd never known anyone like him. Anyone else would have just taken the bed as Lana demanded.
Lana then felt an oddly familiar presence...something was nearby. What it was she was unsure, but she knew it and it was not in sight. She said nothing, but habitually grabbed her sheath as she sat on the floor yet and gripped the handle of her sword and tried to listen carefully to see if she could hear it.

"Lana.... Lana.... you should know my presence by now," chided the voice. The glowing eyes shone through the shadows, and Elexa's figure could barely be made out.
"Relax... I just wish to talk."

Kouichi felt it just before he saw her, and he sprang up, attempting to grab his nagi. He missed, but he still looked ready for any trouble.

"Nothing is as it looks," Lana merely responded, her grip still tight on the handle, "...if that is what you are wondering...milady..."
She couldn't help it. So many years of being so loyal to this one woman, Lana could not simply stop addressing her formally...at least when she was not in the sight of the other heroes. Kouichi, it seemed, was the only one who understood.
"I understand you wish to speak however, with my sudden and unexpected absence."

She shook her head. "You are correct on both counts, my captain... I wish to speak about your recent absence... and nothing here is as it seems."
She looked at Kouichi. "I do not wish to harm either you or Lana... you may relax, young lion." Turning back to Lana, she knelt, then lifted Lana's chin with one hand. "Please.... my captain... do not worry yourself over this. You will always be my faithful guard..."

It bothered Lana. On one hand, she had always been able to trust Lady Elexa's word and that was what made Lana loosen the grip on her sword. At the same time, Lana's recent actions of abandoning her position and ultimately turning against her queen gave her only more than enough reason to keep her guard up. The queen of Nerezza was incredibly notorious for her skill in deceiving, afterall.
"Forgive me, Milady. I cannot help how my training and instincts force me to act," Lana answered quietly, staring up into the pair of soft, violet eyes, "...I can no longer be your guard."

Elexa sood gracefully, automatically rearranging her skirt. She turned away from Lana and crossed her arms.
"Captain Princel... would you like to know why I am here?"

Lana, too, rose to her feet.
"You are not here to harm anyone, but you are here to discuss my absence and my resignation from my position as Captain of Nerezza, is that not it? How I shall be charged with treason the moment I step back onto the land of Crepusculum?"
She would accept whatever punishment she had to. She didn't care, she had more important things to worry about.

Elexa sighed. "I am here to discuss the fact that a few Sumata are... disillusioned with Trucido's 'vision'. Nerezza joined Trucido for protection from the tidal wave sweeping over Crepusculum... I knew that someday, he'd eventually betray us. That day is fast approaching and it looks like there are better options than getting trampled by his armies, or stabbed in the back by he himself. Lana... I am here asking for your help."
She turned her head to look at her captain's face.

Kouichi simply glared, ears flat against his head. "How do we know you're not just lying to get us to trust you?" he asked harshly, not relaxing his guard.

If there was one thing Lana felt like saying to Kouichi right now, it was 'shut up'. Not because she felt he was wrong, oh no. If anything, he was right to question Elexa yet. In a way, Lana herself still did.
Lana stared at Lady Elexa yet, carefully considering her options and thinking of what the queen had just told her. She sighed finally.
"What is it that you fight for?" she asked Elexa, "if you do not fight for Damnedblood?"
It wasn't a yes or a no. She wanted to find out about Elexa, more through the same means that Kouichi learned more about Lana when she first met him.

"I fight for Nerezza, and my people. I fight for the tings that live in the dark places that Trucido would destroy without a second glance, that no other kingdom understands. I fight for Crepusculum, and for myself. I fight for a new alliance."
She looked into Lana's eyes, ehr own almost hypnotic, soul-searching.
"What do you fight for, Captain Princel?"

"I see..." Lana slowly answered. Somehow, the tone in Lady Elexa's voice came across as genuine, and with that Lana decided to trust her.
So now it was either Elexa was telling the truth or Lana truly was going to die a stupid woman.
"I fight for..." for a brief moment Lana's gaze turned to Kouichi before she shook her head and looked forward at Elexa, "...to find a place I really belong to. All this time I've been fighting in Nerezza, fighting to survive, to get to the top so I could no longer be hurt...and I'm still doing it because I realize that I'm not where I belong yet. I don't know where I belong, but I know I'm not there yet."
That sounded lame. Whatever.
