Its brief time in the torch's light allowed the group to see the hissing creature for a moment. Humanoid in stature, the thing had a slim frame, and its weapons were shaped blades attached at the wrist. The creature's face was sleek and pulled back with only slits for a nose. It's beady eyes glowed red against the fire's light, and its thin lips pulled far back to reveal row after row of dagger-like teeth as it hissed at the Sumata royalty.
Having snuck an attack in on Xisa the creature hopped in, its body twitching unnaturally as it swung its blades out, one each going to the remaining Sumata members' torso. The attack seemed slow, and almost intentionally obvious. Seigmand twisted around in time to block the blade sweep, and lunged forward with a thrust of his staff at the creature's leg, hoping to hinder its speed.

Xïsa pulled the blade out of his arm and begun to swing his sword at the beast. When he swung at it again, it did not have the same amount strength as it had before. The Beast stop his blade and fling him into the wall. "Damn, the beast knows how to slow the enemies" He said with no emotion

Alexander's eyes widened as the blades came toward him. The foxes leaped in the way to defend him, both being slashed in half - they merely disappeared in a light cloud.
"Durkei flekhet!" Alexander muttered as his minions were 'killed', and instantly a bubble of a shield was brought around him just in time for the blade to slash at it. The creature's attack bounced off and for a quick moment Alexander and his staff glowed just before a bright beam of light blasted itself from Alexander's staff toward the large monster.

The creature stood perfectly still while both Seigmand and Alex struck at it. Yet neither landed on their mark, as the creature phased out of existence. It reappeared from above, with only its incessant hiss to reveal its position, it fell downwards like a drill at Seigmand. With only a moment Seigmand quickly dropped low and slammed the stone below him with his palms. Two pillars once more struck out, crossing over one another. The creature's blades dug deep into the stone, but stopped short of going through both pillars. Seigmand then grabbed both in each hand, the earth coming alive in his grip. The stone swirled around the creature's arms up to its shoulders holding it firmly in place.
"Now! Attack while its vulnerable!" Seigmand hoped that the trapping maneuver was enough to let them strike it. Otherwise he was unsure if there was anything he could do against the creature. A cold sweat formed on his forehead from the stress. Still, its speed is nothing compared to that Mark boy. If we can read its teleporting it should offer no problem.

Xïsa took Seigmand's advice and charged up his blade with a dark purple aura, then he ran up to the beast and started to swing his sword at it.

Alexander shrugged and followed along with Xisa, charging up his staff with some magic of his own and then unleashing another large beam towards the creature.

The attacks of Alex and Xisa launched towards the creature. The creature managed to phase out, but Xisa had felt his blade sink into unsuspecting flesh. Sure enough the creature appeared free from its constraints, yet its breathing seemed haggard and blood could be seen seething through the dark blue cloth garments it wore. It came forward at the Sumata, leaping in the air only a few feet from the royals with its blades poised to strike.
Seigmand observed the creature. It was intelligent, and that meant Seigmand had an advantage. Though the light was minimal it gave him the chance to analyze the creature's strikes. It was desperate, and hoped to catch them off guard like before. Ducking down and striking the ground a wall began to form directly behind them. Sure enough the creature waited till the last moment before phasing out of sight, vanishing from the Sumata's line of sight. Seigmand smirked in confidence, for he felt the vibrations of something crash against the wall that had just solidified. Whatever it was, the creature was intelligent. It could plan, it could deceive, and because of that, Seigmand could understand it.
"Finish it gentlemen. We're done here." Seigmand said stoically as the wall slithered out to cover the creature's arms once more.

"Right." Xïsa said as he charged at it and slammed his blade into it's shoulder and then he brought the sword down, cutting it in two.

Alexander watched as Xisa rushed in and finished off the beast. He cringed watching it being cut in half, he never usually did for the bloody scenes and the like, but he was glad that the monster had been dealt with.
He smiled as he looked over at Seigmand and said with a sigh, "Wow, battling's hard..."

Seigmand stood up, brushing off the dust from his robes with a wave of his hands. "Come on, we're practically at the archives now." Seigmand kept his voice calm, though he secretly held his worry deep inside him. There was only a single hallway left before the archives, but he knew it would be hazardous. And that was an understatement. They walked just up to the arch before Seigmand paused to examine the architecture. The hallway was about 100 feet long, with only a dim light at the end.
Good, he's already here. Alright lets make this look good.
"Wait, why is there a light there?! Unless... we've been had guys! Someone's already here! This is a bit risky, but we have no time to look traps over." Seigmand slammed down on the earth right in front of them, causing a circular area to drop right out from under the three of them. The hole left them about 10 feet down. Seigmand placed his hand on the stone wall closest to the archives. "When I push this, run as fast as you can."
With his other hand he reeled back and struck the wall with all his might, causing the vibrations to ripple up his hand. In exchange the rock and dirt was thrust outwards, creating a cavernous tunnel. About 100 feet away the earth spilled upwards, leading directly to the archives room.

"Here we go. Piece of cake," Ingway said as he dematerialized the historical documents that were requested. Off in the distance he could a calamitous symphony of noises and a grin crawled across his face. "That must be them now, right on time. Guess it's time to take my leave of this place," he said getting up of the dust covered ground and brushing himself off. To better conceal himself, Ingway returned his torch to his pocket dimension and made his way out of the archives; he had already seen the ruins once, and that was all he needed to traverse them a second time.
Ingway had once again come out on the winning side of a deal and was all to pleased about it. God, that Seigmand was a swell client. I may just have to make my services available to him more often. After all, i couldn't have got a better deal on those gauntlets. Now all i gotta do is rondevous back at the predetermined location and wait.
Ingway took great amusement in the Rock King's plan. I was so underhanded and devious that he couldn't help but feel a combination of resentment and admiration for his brilliant scheme. He was surprised he would go out of his way to betray those he was aligned with, but then again, it was all for the good of his country, which, in all reality, was a bigger surprise than his double dealings.

The crew dashed forwards towards the opening as the tunnel behind them caved from its instability. Only a few feet from the opening the light in the archives died out, leaving them with only the one torch worth of light as they burst through the round opening. Looking behind the corridor was a mess of rubble and blades embedded in the walls, most likely traps that had been activated from the floor giving out.
"Curses! Search the area quickly men, we might still find whoever was still here." With that Seigmand took off in one direction, playing his role perfectly. He knew that their search was in vain, that Ingway had slipped into the secret passage on the far left wall and was effortlessly making his way topside now. It had all gone too perfect. Alone amongst the rows of books he paused and grinned coldly to himself.
Sorry Trucido, but I can't have you getting everything you need. Every day your victory is delayed is a day my kingdom doesn't fear war, and my people prosper. And I intend to delay your victory as long as my life will allow me.

"Alright, we'll find him, Seigmand bro!" and Alexander quickly took to another direction, searching for...well, anyone who wasn't him, Seigmand, or Xisa. This was definitely something he knew he could do because he wouldn't admit it, but he long forgot what it was specifically that the three men were even in the ruins for.
Alexander rounded a corner, coming to a dead end and groaned. "This isn't supposed to be here..." he whined as he turned and headed back to the others.

Xïsa walked around and checked all of the places a thief could be. "Well, The thief is gone... We must go report this news to Lord Trucido at once." he said as he walked back to Seigmand Dezmar.

"Yes you are correct Xisa." Seigmand returned, his search obviously ending empty handed. "It appears that we were beat by a man far better prepared than we were. I only hope Trucido does not condemn us too harshly for our failure."
Before leaving the catacombs Seigmand scowered the many shelfs, and did manage to find a few interesting, if all in all useless scrolls for Trucido. Never leave a campaign without some spoils. He thought to himself. If nothing else the information in the scrolls would lead Trucido to a few relics holding locations, though the records themselves were some 1000 years old. Seigmand highly doubted there'd be a single item left in the indicated place, but it would serve its purpose of them not totally failing in their journey out to Donnertburg.
The trip back was largely uneventful, though the time spent with Alexander had left Seigmand with a more favorable impression of the boy. He may just be useful to me yet. It looks like the trip was more rewarding for me than I could have expected.
