((Jasmine and Annabelle. This is more for my reference and as an info post for those who have any real questions about Jasmine and Annabelle's abilities--I'm trying to set this up the best I can so that it's easy to scroll through lol.
Takes place before the Saints even showed up, about the time when Jasmine and Andy had been separated))
"Jasmine! Tell me, what are we here for?" Annabelle broke the silence, directing the question to her granddaughter who sat across from her in the cave. Annabelle had lead them up and through mountainous terrain and into a cave where she'd set up a small fire, a place for them to rest. They were going to be here for a little while, at least until Jasmine had a fairly good grasp of what she was doing.
They'd just come from Ketulunanox, travelling from there to here where Annabelle knew would be home to many wandering spirits...just what they needed.
"Come on, girl. Answer me," Annabelle snapped impatiently.

Jasmine blinked, staring across the strange symbol her grandmother had imprinted into the cave floor between them.
"Uh...training?" she answered, a little unsure of what her grandmother was looking for. The woman was so confusing, always looking for a specific answer but never giving a proper clue as to what that answer was. This whole trip with her was turning out to be quite the adventure...and one that seemed to be getting them in a lot of trouble, at that. They were lucky they even got out of Ketulunanox alive.
...and Jasmine now and then was still being lectured for that one.

Annabelle grinned and nodded slowly, cackling as she dug her staff lightly into the ground, releasing it and letting a light levitation spell take over and keep it from falling.
"Very good. Fraus blood is very clear in you despite your stupid father's genes being present," she answered proudly and motioned her hands to present the symbol in front of her to Jasmine, "this, my granddaughter, is the symbol of us. Our connection to the gods. It is what is imprinted in your hands, correct?"
(i) What are we?
"Jasmine, it is important that you realize what it is we do, what we were asked to do. Our family history is very shaky with information, but I can assure you we were doing great things for our time for centuries. All I know is that we started from a woman by the name of Lilliana Fraus, a woman who watched nearly everyone in her life, her village die and through great prayer and dealing her soul to the gods saved over a million people. She was a real hero...
Sadly, the story's been altered after that and now we're unsure of what exactly happened to her and the following generations after that. That's what you and I have to do, recover our history and continue to do what we were destined to do."
Annabelle rose to her feet, running her hands along the long, purple robe she wore.
"We've always worn clothing like this, apparently. Only those of us with a strong mind ever imprint our symbol into our hand and manage to survive. As aforementioned, granddaughter, we are people who become a door to the spiritual world and the real world. We are active believers, followers of our gods and do as their books and will command. We carry out only our gods' orders. You understand?
That being said...our gods are a divine mixture of dark and light. Our mission is simple: help those in need, punish those who deserve it, become wise enough to know the difference. Knowledge is nothing but our best friend, and the drive to always do better and become even greater at what we do will be what will grant us success. Jasmine, you are well-versed with light magic, you know how to help those in need. You are young and with enough room for experience yet that you can become something even more amazing than just 'the healer'. THAT is why you are here with me."

"Grandmother, if I may," Jasmine spoke up, an uncertain look on her face, "...if our family has been so 'great' with magic and it's run along the generations, why didn't Mother know any of this?"
Jasmine sat on her knees, keeping her hands in firm balls in her lap and hoping that she didn't piss off the older woman.

Annabelle bit her lip.
"Hala was a smart girl. She was also introduced to magic at a later time in her life. Even still, she...seemed to possess an even lesser amount of magic than needed for such a task..." she slowly answered, looking away from Jasmine, as though she were hiding something that she didn't want the younger girl to know about. She was quick to redirect the conversation however.
"That's not the point, though. She is dead and you must go on to become what she could not. You know praying to the gods is essential; know that everything that happens is something that our gods decide to do, it is all in their grand design that we must follow. Everything is for a reason, my granddaughter. As such, it is important to always pray, you build spiritual energy--a 'prayer power' that sits in that charm around your wrist. This is important because it'll be what'll save you in the future when needing to call upon your stored energy to release a spell or ask the gods for help. An incentive, you know?"
Annabelle grabbed her staff and smiled as she felt the faint orbs of a couple of wandering spirits enter the cave with them.
"Get to your feet, Jasmine. They've come. It's time for you to finally practice...our first lesson is knowing what is available to you. That'll be the key to your success, to always know what is available to you and use what is. Look around you."

Jasmine noticed the older woman's sudden withdrawal and would have questioned it had she not pointed out that 'they' have come. Who were they?
As instructed, Jasmine slowly rose to her feet and turned her head. Upon doing so her eyes widened in sheer horror at the sight of dead bodies around her, some rotting, some bleeding, some with missing body parts.
In moments it felt like the entire mountain was rumbling with the sound of a high-pitched, horrifying screaming. Jasmine backed up, tripping over one of the fire logs in the cave and crashed backwards to the floor, burn marks on the backs of her legs and a sore head as it collided with the rocks.

Annabelle held onto her staff and stayed completely stationary, watching as her granddaughter lost her mind and fumbled all over the place like a fool. She looked from the spirits who still stood in the doorway and then to her granddaughter who was now burnt and bleeding on the cave floor and let out a long, exasperated sigh.
"For god's sake, child, they're dead! Get back up!" she snapped and with the flick of her wrist did a little 'damage control'--first to fix the fire and then next to quickly patch up her granddaughter's stupid head. The last thing she needed was for Jasmine's brains to bleed out like her father's.

Jasmine bit her lip, looking up at Annabelle shamefully despite still being scared out of her mind. She slowly got back to her feet as she felt a warm healing spell wash over her and she hugged her back to the wall of the cave, her whole body shaking uncontrollably.
