"Then I'll make those that are important to me happy, and anyone I can then. I don't have to please everybody, but each person I do please makes the world better." Zeke shouted back, firm in his resolve.
It might have helped his bravado a bit more had the very next moment not been one where his feet flew out from under him as the ground rolled and bashed away as his body. Feeling battered but not beaten he tried desperately to crawl over the wave of metal till at last his body tumbled down the side.
Zeke's breathing ran heavy as he laid on his side, desperate amoung all things to not let his concentration waver. Looking to the tower shield that now laid in front of him he could see his creation about a third complete. Slowly but surely the features of a young man carved themselves into the air as the created brush consumed it's own form to do so.
Gotta... keep her distracted. His eyes scanned over to the distant battle with the young girl and Kouji and for a moment he was tempted by more devious stratagems. His brush still holding the front for him he commanded a simple sketch of a sleek beast poised to strike. ...Damn it, why'd it have to be a little girl? He gritted his teeth as the small furry beast came out with claws and fangs barred against Serena.

Serena smiled at Zeke's words, and nodded. "You've pleased me well then, I hope that maybe that will add some light to your world.." She stepped up to his tower shield, met with a small furry creature: The kind that could rip your face off, it seemed.
She smiled, and took a defensive stance, with her spear out. It would be a long battle, but she didn't want to kill Zeke, not yet if she could, anyway.
"I see a bit more of God in you with every second that goes by..." She laughed to herself, and took a few steps back.
She didn't notice his secondary creation though.

The creature lunged forward, every inch of it designed to be intimidating. It's fangs dripped with saliva hungrily as it lashed out in a berserker styled offense with its claws and teeth. Zeke used the time to right himself and look over the battlefield. Kouji and the girl seemed to be in a dead lock. It was good enough to let him put them out of his mind as he focused solely on Serena.
"Just a little longer." He muttered. As his creation neared completion all but the bristles had vanished. His actual brush on the other hand was busy drawing out a large axe several times one's normal size, it's blade hanging in the air.
"You know lady, I've been holding out on you till now. You might not realized it but I possess another power far greater than anything you've seen so far. In just a moment, I shall call forth one of the royals themselves to aid me in this fight. Let's see how you do with two against one!"

Serena smiled at the creature: She couldn't be intimidated, she had seen the most evil of demons, and the most rightous of angels. She simply lashed her hand out, and summoned a demon of her own, this one being a pixie, the opposite of the creature: She knew what she was doing though.
Serena watched Zeke's eyes falter, and smiled, "I assure you: My daughter won't hurt your friend. She simply wants to play a game with him."
Watching the axe in the air with perplexion, she snapped her fingers, summoning a heavier set of armor for the battle with the creature, the pixie started to fly around at a high velocity, and many flashes came off from it: A blinding tactic.
"Well then, boy, I suppose if you have more to show me, I'll have to pull up a chair. Maybe two if we're going to play this game of who has more friends..." She simply took the taunt as a preview of the rest of the fight, staring down at her book. She placed it gently on the ground, covering it with the cloudy floor.
She pulled up a sword, and a shield: Both looked far too big for her size, but she carried them like feathers.
"Come on then. Let's see you.." she put her hands up seemingly sarcastically, "..faze..me."

Zeke's furry fiend cringed as it's paws covered it's eyes, and seeing it rendered useless for the moment he concentrated, letting the creature pop itself back into it's inky silhouetted form. Averting his eyes from the blinding flashes Zeke tumbled away to the safety of the tower shield as he feared what Serena would throw at him next.
As he paused to think his eyes turned up to see the form of Alex standing with his book open to one specific page. Focusing his mind he brought Alex's form into existence. The young man's voice broke the silence between the two of them as he rattled off an incantation. With a shimmer of golden light Alex's trusty ally, known only as Foxy sprang into the fray.
Seeming unfazed by the dazzling light of the pixie she lunged at the miniature creature, hoping to quell it's dancing lights. "If it's a game of allies you want to play, then you don't know who you're dealing with!" Zeke called out from behind the tower shield.
With Foxy on his side Zeke's brush danced in and out of the shield's cover, forming a few flying daggers of his own to blindly strike out at where he hoped Serena was.

Serena was taken aback as the creature sunk into the ground like a shadow to a person. It was gone, seemingly. She smiled at Zeke's form, hiding behind the shield.
She was done with the book: A full memorization as she shook her head: Zeke now dealt with a summoner and a monster: A woman full of knowledge. She was about to summon a more monsterous fiend, when suddenly a blinding light gave her a backlash of pain.
It had been dark in this cloud, and that was enough to faze her truly for a minute.
The pixie was sadly devoured, gone, poof. It was a spectacular show of lights, and Serena felt pained by the loss of her friend. She could only hope that her next summon wo-
...Pain?
...Lots of pain. She looked down, and two daggers were sheathed into her stomach area, as she held her hand to her sternum, just sinking for a brief moment. She laughed lightly, and breathed heavily. "..Zeke..right?"..She shook her head.."To think, that I'll have to kill a God to get out of here.."
Serena stood up, and shimmied over to her shield, picking it up. She was tattered and fazed, but she flicked her hand, covering the wounds with a heavy bandage instantaneously. "..Be prepared."
Thus, she waved her hand up, and the field became a giant generator, a true end for this kinda event.
"...Five minutes, God. Or we all die." She smiled, and encased Alice in a protective spell, stopping Kouji's assault with her.
Alice looked up, frightened that she couldn't play with Kouji anymore, and frowned.."Mommy...mom?...What's happening?.."
Serena looked to her daughter, "...I'm making you some new friends sweetie..and getting rid of all the bad people.."
Alice smiled, worried for her mother's safety.

"What are you doing?!" Kouji demanded.... then saw how badly she was injured.
"Don't do this, Serena. We can save your life. I know you don't want this...!"
He didn't want anyone here to die. The little girl was violent, but innocent somehow. She needed her mother. He'd been playing her game; she didn't need to see her mother die.
"What about her?" He pointed to Alice. "Just let it go. There's nothing that says whatever you're about to do won't take you down with us!"

Serena smiled softly, as Alice sat in the ball, watching the fight scene like a mindless child would watch a cartoon.
"Save my life..you could. But that still makes you a hero against Trucido's plan...I'm not a damned traitor. I'm an honorable servant. Be it stupid, or brave."
She simply waved his concern away, "If you're so worried about my daughter's well being..."
"...Then...
...Kill me."
She put her arms out, awaiting anything, although the gleaming spear in her hand was questionable.

"I understand." Zeke said as he came from around the shield. True the woman's ideals were to his as night was to day, but that didn't make her determination any different then his. To fight to the death for a goal. To give it everything he had to save those he held dear. He had seen it in all to many people as he'd fought alongside the Heroes.
"You were a worthy opponent. If I have to kill you, I'd at least like to know your name." Zeke awaited her response as Foxy stood at his side, watching with curiosity between him, Serena and the figment of Alex.

The dark woman smiled as she nodded to Zeke, extending her hand, gripping the spear as it crackled with electricity. The timer was running shorter and shorter as the cloud started to gleam with energy.
"...Serena. Serena Heracroix. And that's my daughter; Alice Heracroix." She gave a soft bow, and planted the spear in the ground.
Her bleeding was even worse now, the bandages were stained with large splotches, and her breathing became nearly sedated: She hadn't too long for this world, as she smiled to Alice.
"Don't worry dear. You know what to do..you were prepared for this."
Alice looked up, and frowned down..."At...at least I'm not the one dying today...This is my second chance..r..right Mommy?"
Serena smiled sweetly at the young girl, and looked back to Zeke. "Well. Come on then. I won't GIVE you this fight, but the two and a half minutes left aren't helping either, hm?"
She motioned Zeke on, holding her spear out.

Zeke nodded, his face showing a reluctant determination to finish what he'd started. Focusing on Alex the young king bayed Foxy forward. The sleek holy beast took off like a shot, splitting into two separate, but very real forms as they each went for Serena's arms.
Meanwhile Zeke was busy as his brush moved in concurrent figure eight patterns up towards the axe's handle. His eyes were cast upwards towards the ominous image as he prepared for the attack. "Serena, I don't know what made you join Trucido. I don't understand how you can cast your entire kingdom into nothingness, and yet still care for your daughter." He looked back down to Serena. No smile. No kindness in his expression.
"Were there more time, this might have gone differently." His brush swept down and began to move with haste as it painted a jetpack secured behind him. "I'm sorry." The jetpack popped into reality, and began to rumble as the burners ignited.

And Serena's reaction time was this: She was able to dodge to one side, being taken down by the ferocious fox as she grunted aloud. She knew it was almost the end, as she started laughing to herself lightly, holding back the beast with her spear.
"H...He reminded me of my husband..and my daughter needed someone to look up to....a man of..conviction..willpower..."
She tried to sit up, but alas, even for being a very knowledgable mage, it didn't make her a well practiced one: She had to rely on her own strength, which wasn't much physically for the woman in question.
This fox should have ripped her apart..but it seemed just enough for her to talk a bit more for this artist's sake:.."..And...my daughter..I would sacrifice the world for her...you'll understand..one day..when you make a creation that means more..than..than This.." She referred to this fight, his actions, everything he had done up to this point.
"..And...I..I forgive you."
She smiled intently, pushing back up against the beast for one last push, trying her best to fight to the bitter end.

Zeke shot up in a Rocketeer fashion, his body tucked as aerodynamically as possible as the jetpack sent him skyward. Reaching the spot where the figure-eight links began he reached out and brought his last two creations into existence; a long chain that connected to the base of a massive axe.
The weight of it all made his entire body lurch for a second as he veered off course. Were his arms anything but the idealistic creations of his mind his shoulders would have separated in a second. Using every ounce of will just to hang on Zeke let the roaring engine of the jetpack fuel his momentum as he begun to do circles in the air. The axe followed, whipping around in wider and wider arcs till at last it flew perfectly horizontal.
With one last go around Zeke dove headfirst towards Serena as Foxy pinned her down. For a moment his eyes wavered to Alice looking on as he dove in for the finishing blow. It was enough for him to feel tears well in his eyes. As Zeke flew by, leaving the axe to cleave into the ground and anything in its wake, he closed his eyes and let everything save for the giant axe and his jetpack vanish from existence.
He landed with a skid beside Kouji, and his eyes looked back and forth from his fellow ally to the little girl. He didn't have any words for her. No encouragement, nothing cheerful to do or say. If he had claimed victory in this battle, he wouldn't have said it felt like one.
Zeke looked beyond their battlefield with tired eyes. "This was easier when it was a game. Come on Kouji, we have a villain to kill and a world to save."

The battlefield was covered in dust and ash, and Serena's body was no where to be seen: Her existence was sadly ended by the axe's might, and the barrier around Alice died out, tears lined her cheeks, and a frown on her face.
"M..Mommy..?" She took a few steps forward.
"..S..She can see Daddy now..." She kneeled down, and swept away at the cloud, picking up the giant, tattered book.
"...S...She wasn't..going to kill you..." Alice started, seemingly sad, "..She wanted to die. She ..She told me she was going to trick you into killing her..." She started to cry again, falling to her knees, holding the book close.
"..She told me to judge the world based on the actions taken place today..." She sniffled, and shook her head...she started to sob even, taking in breaths rarely; she slowly scampered away to Kouji's side: She had more faith in him than in Zeke for their current actions, but who could blame her?

Kouji's eyes started to fill as well, and he knelt down and held the little girl close to his side.
He wasn't really all that good with kids, but he couldn't bear to see her like that.
"It'll be okay, Alice," he told her, not sure whether that was true or even the right thing to say, but he had to do what he could.
Takuya really had rubbed off on him.
