(Play: Final Vanitas Battle– Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep))
Andy landed on solid ground, but as he did he was greeted with a shock. All around were the bodies of angels, swords cast aside, broken and bloodstained. Nothing but dead eyes met his own as he looked around the war torn heaven. Trucido did all this? Andy thought, feeling his anger swell with every dead body he laid his eyes on. However the object looming above him interrupted his angry thoughts, as he laid eyes on his Other. Who had transformed to some tall monster and went from mad dive to a graceful descent as he floated down to the ground.
“Alright, what did you mean by swallowing Griever whole?!” Andy yelled.
“It's exactly as it sounds. While you were fighting my carcass, I fused Griever's energy into mine. We are now one being.” he said, turning to a large tower where Andy felt a large amount of energy gathered. “But it seems...despite our complete fusion, I am not a complete god yet.[/b]”
The monster pointed to it's chest, where a large hole resided in the middle. It's skeletal face looked up to the tower. “In order to complete my ascension as a god. I will absorb another being of ultimate power.”
“Oh yeah? What being would that be!?” Andy demanded.
“Trucido Damnedblood himself.” he said, looking at the stairway that led up to the tower. “He's so busy fighting the Heroes that he won't notice his energy being siphoned until it's too late. I will defeat him and become a hero, no, even better...a supreme deity!”
The monster walked for the staircase, planning to make his way up to the tower where he would take out the newly evolved Damnedblood. Andy ran in front of the tower stairway and aimed his sword at him.
“That ain't happening pal!” Andy yelled.
“Why do you stand in my way Andy? I plan to take out Trucido, isn't that what you Heroes want?” he taunted.
“Not like this, not from you.” Andy said.
“Surely you don't intend to stop me...alone?” he laughed.
“I'm never alone,” Andy said, keeping his grip on his blade and his eyes trained on his enemy. “As long as my friends are there, I will never be defeated.”
“Oh please.” he scoffed, “Your friends are your power right? That stuff is cr—”
“It's beings like you and Trucido that will never win because of that! You have no bonds! No friends! No one is strong alone!” he yelled, his eyes widened. He was just blurting out stuff, but suddenly it all started to make sense. Every battle he's fought, every fight he won and lost. The answers were with him this whole time. “To know you have people who will fight with you, even if you die, and believe in your cause...then your strength is boundless! It's because of my friends I survived, it's because of my friends who give me the strength to fight my enemies. I thought I had to be strong alone...and that's why I would lose, because I didn't realize my true strength: they are my strength, and I am their strength too!”
Andy then charged forward, slashing his blade. His Other raised his sword and blocked it, but the force of the blow shoved him back...for a bit. His Other braced his legs and stopped his push, shoving Andy back with his blade the teen flipped through the air and landed smoothly on the ground.
“Fine then...lets see if your bonds really are strong enough to defeat me.” he said, the clawed blade he wielded glowed before he swung it at Andy. Monstrous claws of energy slashed through the air, Andy barely had time to raise his blade let alone brace himself for the blast the energy made when it hit his sword. He flew back and crashed into the tower, it made a dent in the wall but he didn't crash through.
When Andy was regaining his senses he saw a shape move through the dust, and soon he saw his Other's clawed foot shove out in a kick. He dodged the kick and watched the foot crash through the wall, he raised his sword and tried to cut off the leg. But moments before his blade connected he vanished, feeling the sky suddenly darken he looked up and saw his Other above him attempting a jump slice. Andy raised his blade to block it, but was met with the feeling of ten tons slam against his blade. Making an impact so strong it created fair size hole in the ground, Andy yelled out as he tumbled into it and landed in the middle. He could feel soft brown dirt between his fingers, but he could also feel hard white marble prodding at his sides. He shook his head to keep his eyes clear of dust and looked up, his Other stared at him before leaping into the air and falling, with his blade pointed into a stab.
“Farewell Andy,” he said as he fell.
Andy rolled out of the way, the sword crushing the white marble fragments and stabbing into the dirt, but he didn't try to launch another attack like last time. This time he focused on putting himself some distance between him and his Other before launching an attack. Leaping out of the hole and and running back a bit he looked behind him real quick to see if he was followed. As he did though he slammed into something, he stumbled back and looked in front of him where he saw the white skinned body of his Other waiting in front of him.
“Boo.” he said before pulling his arm back, swinging for a back hand attack.
Andy could not afford to get hit like that again, he took his blade and swung at his arm. Unlike last time where Andy was sent into the ground for merely blocking it, when the slice hit his arm it stopped both of their attacks. A ripple of air hissed out and dust picked up from all around them, throwing small debris and ash from the fires away from them in a perfect circle.
“You canceled out my attack with your own,” His Other mused as Andy struggled to push his arm back with his blade. “Looks like you still have some strength left, I better end you before you use it.”
With a powerful push Andy's Other shoved Andy back, luckily he was able to skid a little and retain his balance. His Other vanished and reappeared in front of him thrusting into a stab, Andy side stepped it and used his blade to try and miss-fire his thrust. It worked moderately well, it was knocked upward enough for Andy to throw in a quick swing. The blade raked across the side of his Other's chest, signaling the first blow Andy had dealt to the creature. I did it! I got the bastard, now I—
Andy's thoughts were cut off by a strong blow to his side, the side of his Other's arm slammed into his ribs and sent him flying forward. He rolled a little before he stopped, shaking his head he picked up his sword and stood up. His Other was still quite a few ways away from him, his sword through was frothing with white energy.
“Yahoo, you got one hit on me.” he said, wincing a little at his own cut. “And it was a good one, but it'll take a bit more than that to defeat me!
He held his sword up in the air and called out, “Shiro...Getsuga!”
When he slashed down a giant burst of white energy ripped through the air at him, it took the shape of a laughing face as it closed in on Andy. At first Andy couldn't move as the massive face closed in on him, finally he felt a current of energy shoot through his body and he leaped aside as the face zoomed right by him. Although he dodged it Andy could feel the destructive energy rip everything around him, he could feel small pebbles of marble kick up and pepper his legs lightly. A wave of dust passed over Andy and covered him in a veil of brown and black dirt. Once he felt things settle down he got up, breathing raggedly as he shook the dust off him. Standing up he looked at the clear trail of destruction left from the Shiro Getsuga and suddenly began to feel overwhelmed.
I don't know if I can handle this, it's gotten so strong... how can I match up to him? Andy thought, trying to take the moment to calm down. Suddenly he felt something whoosh right past him and slash at his chest. Not too deep to be a danger, but just enough to hurt. He yelled out and fell back, as he did he saw the towers and buildings next to him were veering over to their sides dangerously. Soon the entire set of towers and buildings beside him fell over and crashed to the ground, his evil Other stood there with his sword pointed outward. He had used his blade to cut through the buildings and hit Andy at the same time.
“It seems your talk about friends being your power was just talk,” Andy's Other laughed, his blade glowing again with the white energy.
Another Shiro Getsuga?! Andy thought, looking around and realizing that he wouldn't get in the clear by the time that wave fired. He watched his Other lift the sword high into the air and prepare for another attack. I can't give in! If he wins then my friends...Jasmine...
As he thought of his friends and thought of how this monster intended on replacing Trucido with himself he felt his anger returning, he wouldn't let this thing get near his friends not while he was still fighting. He gripped his sword with a fierce determination and charged right for him just as the Shiro Getusga was released. As the wave of energy got closer he forced himself to hold onto his fighting rage, otherwise this wouldn't work.. He leaped in the air and slammed his sword on the 'nose' of the giant face. The strength behind Andy's slash was enough to stop the attack where it stood, he grunted as he pushed against the attack. He knew if he failed now it would be all over for him, he had to stop this attack or he would die. He let his fighting spirit swell, it bubbled up within him and burst out in the form of a roar, he pushed against the wave once more...and cut through the attack.
Andy saw his Other's eyes widen as he landed on the ground and, pushing his body forward, slashed at his Other's chest. The attack surprised it, for the monster staggered back and sloppily managed to block the next sword strike. Which led Andy to slam is shoulder into the wound of his Other's chest, causing the monster to yell out and lose his guard. He staggered back a bit, leaping back as Andy tried to launch in another slash. Andy saw his Other lift his blade to try and shoot it out like earlier, Andy wasted no time in charging forward. He felt a hiss in the air and moved is body to the right, he could feel the blade shoot past him and miss. He saw his Other angle his blade over and quickly dodged the next strike again.
“NO!” Andy's Other roared in frustration, abandoning his next attack and simply charged for Andy as well. The two of them leaped in the air and slashed at each other, as they landed on the other side time seemed to slow down for the two of them. It was as if the world was gonna make everyone wonder who survived and who was hit. Suddenly a burst of white blood came from the monster as he staggered forward, painfully.
“No....NO!” he yelled out as Andy stood up, unharmed. “Why...why are you stronger than me?! Why can't my evolved form defeat you! I was so close! Why!? Why isn't it working!?”
“You just don't get it do you?” Andy spoke, turning around and pointing his blade at the back of the monster. “I said it before, you can't defeat me...I have found a power far greater than any god can obtain. So go on, evolve as many times as you want, cut me as many times as you can, but I will never fall! I will always stand and fight for Allorum and I will win every time!”
“...So...I can never win huh...” Andy's Other said, using all it's strength to stand up. “Fine then...if I go....I'LL TAKE YOUR FRIENDS WITH ME!”
Andy's eyes widened, he tried to run forward with another strike but a burst of energy sent him flying backwards. He watched as his evil Other shot into the sky, flying high above the tower where Trucido was fighting the other Heroes. He lifted his blade in the air and a flare of white and red energy burned on his blade. Andy, even from the ground, could feel the intense energy from up above him. If his Other fired that attack and it hit, Trucido would be killed but so would his friends! He looked around at the remaining buildings and formulated a plan, it wasn't a good one, but it was a plan. He bent his legs down low and pushed himself into the air, when he got close to one building he pressed his legs against it and bounced off of it. With one last push from another building Andy was rocketed into the air, flying towards his evil Other as he was preparing to destroy the tower Trucido and the Heroes were fighting in.
“Hahaha, you dare try to stop me?! I'll kill you too!” Andy's Other laughed as he swung his sword down and a giant ball of white matter shot out towards Andy.
Andy narrowed his eyes as the giant energy ball shot for him. But he did not waver as his sword began to shimmer, his resolve powering the blade as an old magic began to grow inside the blade. A magic he hasn't used ever since he first came to Allorum.
No backing down.
He pulled his blade back as the energy ball was getting closer.
My bonds are the strength of my blade.
He slammed his blade on the energy ball and felt the power he stored within his blade released and sent a ripple of energy on the big ball when it hit his blade.
He won't ever win!
Andy pushed forward with his blade and one last ripple pulsed through the blade before it broke under his might, the giant energy ball reduced to shards and disintegrating in the sky. Andy's Other looked even more panicked than ever, he tried to raised his blade to slash him but Andy blocked it.
It's time to end this!
“RENZOKUKEN!”
Andy called out the name of a power he hasn't summoned in a long time, his body took on an odd glow as energy shot from the sky and began to fill him with a power Andy had never felt before. Soon his body was moving, faster than it normally could, slashing at his evil Other with ferocity. His Inner Evil attempted to block his attacks, but the slashes were far too quick for even it's evolved form to comprehend. Once the final slash came in his evil Other attempted to get away, however that wasn't all Andy was capable of doing. As more energy poured into him Andy called out a series of attacks.
“Rough Divide!” he 'flew' over to his Other and gave one powerful slash upwards. His Other yelled out and blindingly slashed at Andy, but missing due to being disoriented from the attacks.
“Fated Circle!” Andy flew next to the monster and spun his body around, creating a ring of red energy balls around him. Within seconds the energy balls exploded and sent his evil Other's body plummeting downward. Andy quickly put his body into a dive and zoomed past his falling Other, once he landed on the ground he raised his blade in the air.
“Blasting Zone!” As soon as he yelled out the name a beam of energy extended from his blade high into the sky, he swung his blade downward and his Other was caught into the energy blast falling downward. The energy slammed it down and created burn marks on it's white skin, the monster was already barely hanging on...but after this next move it wouldn't be anymore.
“Lionheart!” he ran his hand on his blade and it glowed bright white, he rushed forward, vanished and reappeared behind him. A white slash mark appeared in the air followed by a massive explosion. “Farewell...”
(End: Final Vanitas Battle)
Andy landed on the ground and looked at his evil Other, watching his body float there, as if he was slowly falling in molasses. Then his legs and arms began disintegrating, he looked at them and began to yell out.
“No! Why?! I had it all![/b]” he yelled as the sword he was using dropped to the ground and slowly began to change shape and grow. “I am the true hero of Profeta! I am the real Andy Jammer! Why?! WHYYYYYYYYAAAAAAUUUUUUUURRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!”
Soon he was gone, his dying yells faded in with the wind as a solemn breeze passed through the remaining towers of the area. The sword that Andy's evil Other used was no longer a sword now, no, now it transformed into a tall human shaped creature. A lion with red mane and black fur, tall as strong backed as a human, but much taller and broader. This was Griever's true form.
“Griever?” Andy spoke.
“...Yes.” the tall lion said, walking over to Andy, his thundering footsteps echoed as he got closer. “It is I. Andy...you have made me proud, your actions during this fight were everything I hoped you would preform. Thank you...I mean it.”
Andy stayed silent for a bit, Griever furrowed his eyebrows in worry, “Andy...?”
“...Why do you and Eden hate each other?” Andy asked, looking at the large lion. “The stories...say you two are enemies, and hate each other. But why?”
Griever remained silent for awhile, he gave a deep sigh and lowered to Andy's eye level. “...A long time ago. My brother and I wanted to have more than we were allowed, and we tried to seize heaven. At the last minute my brother had a change of heart...and tried to strike me down. What ended up happening was the angels banished us both, but Eden managed to wound me before this happened. When I was sent to Allorum... I had to find a host to heal in, and through luck, I managed to find you.”
“You tried to rebel against Heaven?” Andy asked, Griever nodded.
“I was...angry. I was betrayed by my own brother, and forced into the body of a human. While I was recovering inside your soul I was formulating plans...plans to get my own body and confront my brother. Or...that was the plan.”
“What changed?” Andy asked.
“...You did.” he said. “I watched you, grow in Allorum and fight alongside others. You...you reminded me of myself in my early godling days. I was strong in my belief of my friends and I treasured their trust in me. I found the qualities I used to have grow inside you...and you reminded me of how stronger I was then, when I had the strength of my friends than my own strength.”
He patted Andy's shoulder as he continued, “I again thank you...for reminding me the true strength of comrades. I hope the lesson you have learned will carry on in your future.”
Andy nodded, “I will. I'll never cast aside my friends anymore...I'll carry their strength with me, forever.”
Griever nodded and stood at his full height, “There is much to be done...my brother and I need to assist the remaining fighters in vanquishing Trucido's legacy. What will you do?”
“Me?” Andy sighed, sitting down. “Sit here...get enough energy. Pray the others come out...my fight's done.”
He looked over at the tower and sighed, “It's their fight now.”
Griever paused a bit before nodding, “Very well...I will see you again Andy.”
Without another word Griever vanished from thin air, leaving Andy in the middle of the wreckage as he stared at the tower. Thinking about everyone fighting in there, and wondering if they continued to hold on to what they fight for. Andy has and you know what he realized it?
It was worth it.
Andy landed on solid ground, but as he did he was greeted with a shock. All around were the bodies of angels, swords cast aside, broken and bloodstained.
