"You're welcome," Elexa replied. "Many of the heroes who were brought do not have these qualities. I was beginning to despair that there was anyone on Earth with them at all."
Well, that wasn't exactly true. The boys Kouji and Kouichi both seemed to be much like Faeylinn, as did Andy Jammer, although he was terribly rude and also seemed to judge her. Still, he was an honest, blunt kind of person from her experience, and she found that if she thought about it, she actually rather liked him... he reminded her of Lana, in a way.

She frowned. "I don't know why I keep bothering to tell you, I'm not a hero."

"Not now, maybe... but those who do all they can to tell others they arent' heroes usually are the ones who end up becoming them, purely by accident. Maybe I simply wish for you to get used to the idea... besides, we of Crepusculum seem to be calling all visitors from Earth 'heroes' these days."
She laughed.

She sighed, shaking her head and standing up. "Alright, whatever, I guess I can't really stop you from calling me that. I think I'm going to go explore for now..."

She nodded. "Be careful," she warned, then stepped back into the shadows, all trace of her presence gone.

Faeylinn looked around for a moment, then shook her head and left the room, muttering, "Show-off..." She looked around and turned left, walking down the hallway and making a few random turns after that.

The castle was large and built like a maze, the faint light from the walls accented by torches placed throughout. It was silent except for the sound of Faey's footsteps, echoing in the empty corridors...

Faeylinn continued walking for at least half an hour before stopping for a minute to lean against the wall and pull her sneakers off. Then she continued walking, opening a door once in a while and peeking into it, but most were empty. There seemed to be no one else around, and noticed that it did seem to get darker the longer she walked around, just as Elexa had said. She opened a pair of rather large, ornate doors to reveal an intricate arrangement of shelves stocked with books all the way to the room's ceiling. It was a library! She hurried in, leaving the door open behind her, and picked up the nearest book... Only to put it down again, slightly disappointed. It was written in a language she didn't understand or recognize. She picked up a few more, examining the text, but they were all written in this language, and she had no idea how to even begin translating it. She walked back out into the hall, leaving her shoes in the library and making a small mental note to herself to go back and get them later. After a few more turns and half a dozen more empty rooms, she opened a door and ran n, grinning widely. It was a music room, with a grand piano sitting in the center of it all. She sat down at the piano, idly tapping out a C major scale with her left hand as she looked around at the other instruments in the room. Some of them resembled violins and violas, and even something like a guitar from Earth. Others were completely foreign to her. But the scattered music sheets and books were written the same here as they were on her planet, and she felt relieved the two worlds shared at least some common ground. She turned her attention back to the piano, letting her fingers rest on the keys for a moment before she began to play one of her favorites- The Phantom of the Opera.

The strains of beautiful, haunting, grand music echoed in the emptiness, a hundred times creepier than the same notes could ever be on a stge, no matter how good the acoustics, calling to mind the legends of curses and strange happenings going on during the play's performance on Earth.
From the shadows, someone or something listened, happy and pleased.

The song ended on that last high note, and Faeylinn stopped, listening to it reverbrate through the walls. She'd played the song many times before, but it'd never sounded like that. She gave a small shiver, the song had given her the strangest feeling of being watched. After a minute of silence she replaced her hands and began a slow medieval sounding song- Trois Vierges by Epica.

It was pleased, the music was so beautiful... it hadn't heard such beautiful music in a long time...
Play it again, whoever you are?
The voice was in her mind. It sounded young and childlike, but it was there.

She stiffened surprised, and turned away from the piano, searching the room for whoever had addressed her. It was strange, whoever it was hadn't spoken, but she'd heard the words. Had it gotten darker since she'd begun playing? The shadows seemed to have gotten darker and she couldn't make out any figures in them. "Who's there?"

Just me... just me... I haven't had visitors in a long time. Milady keeps me company occasionally, but she rarely ever plays...
It's voice was soft, non-threatening... in a way, it was wistful and sad.
Big, green eyes looked out of the shadows at Faeylinn.

She looked back for a while, then nodded slowly and turned back to the piano, beginning to play another song, this one not as sad or haunting as the others, but filled with longing. It would've sounded better with a cello or violin accompanying it, but she could only play one instrument at a time, and she doubted there was anyone nearby familiar with the song. She quietly hummed along with the lyrics of Meadows of Heaven by Nightwish.

Its pleasure was almost evident in Faey's mind as it, and the shadows, seemed to lean in closer for a better listen to the pretty tune.
I bet you've got a pretty singing voice... I'd like to hear it someday...
It sighed contently.
