It was night. Pitch black of night, and a campfire laid nearby as Ayalan thought to himself, staring up at the stars.
His arm wound had nearly healed as well as one of his scratches from the earlier fights, he could be seen staring up at the sky, his back against a tree.
Aya thought all he could hear was a slight snoring, and the creatures that ran all around him, but never near him; he could see them, his eyes allowed himself to see easily.
He only sighed, and spoke to himself, the only audible words being, "Such..."..."stupid.." "Yena.." His knuckles and his magic were off too; but he still remained in his seemingly annoyed mood.

"Pondering the past can have many effects..." Gensayce said walking slowly towards Aya "For many it can bring us strength and hope, a reason to keep on fighting" He aswell stared up at the sky before looking across at Ayalan "By the expression on your face and the air about you however, I would say you are contemplating your past in the hopes of finding a reason, you do not yet believe you have one of adequate standing and you hopelessly search" He sat down with a light clinking as his armour protested against the movement.
"Amazing to think that this one sky holds all of us under it's wing, to think that somewhere over in Ghiaccio my mother will most likely be looking up at that same sky with many thoughts clouding her mind, Where am I? Am I alright? Is my father looking over me? She was one of those people who were constantly optimistic" he smiled slightly "Yes she worried, and she would be scared at times but always she would think of the better things to come from the bad, she took the rough with the smooth better than any hero I've ever met"

What could Ayalan say back to him that wouldn't be too odd?
He did state fact, Aya hated his past, and in fact, his magic pulsated with a seeming anger as he took a soft breath and smiled.
Aya looked up at the sky and folded his arms, "I tend to not ponder the past because there's nothing much to ponder. What happened, happened." He looked across to Gensayce as he snapped a finger, his body levitated above the ground just barely, "My mind is clear though, I need not a reason to fight besides the usual: What benefits me."
It was a lie and he knew it, anyone could see it, but he played it off very cool, as if he knew it would work as a legitimate reason as is.
"Your mother sounds like a great person. I wouldn't doubt if she actually fought in wars," he changed the topic fast, "I didn't have a family myself. Always a nomadic." He swirled around a fireball in his hand, illuminating the air around him as he sighed.
"So you fight for your family?"

Gensayce shook his head "No, I have yet to find a reason to fight save to protect myself" he said, the man was clearly sensitive on the subject of his past so why bring it up? "I have fought once to defend myself, and I believe you were there then but other than that I see no reason to fight" He sighed before looking at the wolf helm at his side "I have yet to find a leader of valour and honour to defend, I believe if I have a duty to protect anyone that would be Princess Kara considering she is the rightful heir to the throne of Ghiaccio"
He nodded thoughtfully "My family need no defending..." he said with a smile and shake of his head "Not many armies dare brave the glaciers to take one small hut as their land although I admit that getting past my mother to take it would be a feat in itself" He chuckled lightly before sighing again "Such a world of chaos we live in, it saddens me to see the lands each with their own natural beauty get ravaged by the schemes and plots of war"

Aya smirked as Gensayce talked, nodding.."In that case, I do have a reason to say I do fight."
He folded his arms and sighed, with a grin, "To make sure that I don't fall into the same trap my ex-wife did." He admitted his problem there as he folded his arms, shrugging and not going further.
"Princess Kara hm?.." He grinned and folded his arms, "You're a very brave fighter, I noted. I sometimes wish I had that drive, but sadly my line of work tends to want me in the shadows and escaping more than fighting." He shrugged, "However we're both on the same side, so your weapon will aid everyone around as long as you keep that fighting spirit." He seemingly admired Gensayce, remembering their choice moments at the earlier battle.
"Well my wishes go to the wellbeing of your family. War is something that ravages us all on the inside. If you say it doesn't, you're truly a liar." He smirked, and played with his fire spell a little more, "I mean, I have felt it, surely you have too? Seeing the dead, both in person and in land?" Aya stood up and sighed.."Nevertheless..what brings you here, Gensayce?"

"What brings me here..." He repeated smiling slightly "Nought brings me here, I am here on my own free will, with my father killed by wolves I decided I could not provide for my mother up in the glaciers so that drew me down here in the hopes of fending for my mother. I guess if any reason that is it" He nodded and and looked across at his spear "As for reasons for staying... that is a different story all together"

Aya nodded as he folded his arms, with a smirk and a 'hmph'. "I suppose your reasons are sound. Beats mine at least. I find myself fighting to keep up my food costs more than anything else now.."
He sighed and laughed, shaking his head.."To think that success in life can all go away in an instant. Just like the seasons and the weather. Gone in an instant and you're in a new setting, a new background."
Ayalan then looked to Gensayce, "Well let me ask then. You stay with our group as we've noted. What's here for You?" He smiled.

Gensayce shrugged "I am an honourable man, I refuse to simply sit by or go home whilst this Sumata cause so much chaos" He nodded slowly "And duty ties me here, my father's father lived down in Ghiaccio but not in the Glaciers, and he tought my father the ways of the royal guard which my father passed on to me" He propped himself against his elbows and stared up at the sky "My families duty has always been to protect the Ghiaccian Royalty and that is exactly what I shall do, A man of honour is what I am and my duty is what I shall do"

Ayalan smirked and looked down, nodding.
"Noble. But watch yourself; even the most honourable of men are ousted by the most dishonourable of trusted; I would know the story of honor and dishonor even within one's land."
He looked aside, thinking about the near future and looked back with a sigh; "So let me ask you; would you dishonor your peers in order to, note, in the end, restore greater honor?" Ayalan was in deep thought about many things, this being one of them due to his role: He was a mercenary, not a hero or a villain. He just did what others told him.

"No" Gensayce answered bluntly "If I do something dishonourable to bring about the greater honour at then end then it cannot be so honourable can it? The only way to achieve honour at the end of something is through honourable methods" He nodded slowly to himself in thought "Yes, it is like this war, the most honourable way to end any war is through negotiations and peace, if you use war to end war all you will leave is a large empty void which will only be filled with more war"

Aya smirked at the response; the logic was there but he thought back to his discussion with the messenger, as he spoke again, "I suppose you are right. Depends on the character though."
He stood up and turned to Gensayce, "I took down a village with an army because someone above me told me to, though I thought it was wrong."
Ayalan sighed and spoke, "So which way proves your honor there?..Doing right instead of wrong against others or doing your lord and country right instead of wrong?" He then tossed a rock up in the air, watching it with his eyes as they shone, tracking it the whole way.

"That all as you said depends on the character" His face was calm, as if he already knew the next question and had his answer prepared "Is your lord an honourable one? Because if that is so he would not ask you to take down a village with an army, and in doing so that is not the honourable thing to do"

Ayalan then tipped his hair toward the side, thinking of this response, as he spoke up again, "A village filled with people who are against your people, but are hardly at the same power level, so your lord is merely doing what he feels is best for his people, not the people outside of his own."
Now it became situational semantics, he wanted to see how far Gensayce and Honor would go.

"Is it nessecary to kill them?" Gensayce asks with curiosity, he knew the man was probing him and testing how far he would go "I fyou say they have nowhere near the same amount of power as you then subduing them without killing them should not be a problem" He sniffed slightly befre rubbing the tip of his nose "It was possible for me and my father alone to take down eight bandits without killing them, if you had a skilled army then it should not be impossible to take down a village weaker than your army with minimal casualties to both sides"

Ayalan smirked to himself, and tossed a small fireball in the air to himself, pondering again. "Power demonstrates fear; fear can be used rightously, and to simply jail or take these people away could only incite more violence or uproars. I found myself in a decision; DO I squash a village I could take out alone, or do I leave them alone for my own personal morals?"
He sighed and the fireball dimmed away as he smirked. "You definitely seem more moral than I could ever hope to achieve..but I lost my faith in honor toward any particular person awhile ago. I just trust myself. And heck, I could say a bit of my trust is coming in through the heroes we have around..but.."
He laughed.."Those Saints? They have their own morals that seem right to them; same with the Sumata. Who says we're doing the right thing? Or that they are? Don't you think all we're doing is perhaps preventing something that Should happen?" Now Ayalan was confusing himself as he held his hand open, and the fireball turned into a small scene of villages on fire;
"...And..to reinstill any faith you may have lost in me; I deserted."
