((UHHH MILICIA/VINCENT AS FAR AS I KNOW LOL PM IF YOU WANT IN YOURSELF K GUYS?))
"And just who are you?"
"Vincent Loque, I'm a legal citizen of the country of Ignis."
The two guards before the throne room looked at each other. One shrugged and the other shook his head.
"Don't know that name," the first guard said.
"Don't know why a man from Ignis has business here with the queen of Crepusculum - on the other side of the world and all," the second piped in.
Vincent sighed but stood his ground firmly. He crossed his arms and tried to think of a way to convince the damn guards to let him in to see Queen Milicia, as with the fall of the Ignian king she was apparently taking control of both Ignis and Crepusculum's militaries.
...And he wanted back in the military, dammit. WITHOUT being the bottom of the barrel again.
"Look, I've served with the military--"
"We don't see your tags! Report to your general howabout?"
"I've come from Ignis, which has no real governer, to talk to the woman currently in charge of the damn military. I've got no one else to discuss being granted an officer position to other than her," Vincent spat at the guard who, funny enough, stood nearly a foot shorter than himself.
The guard raised an eyebrow as he responded, "You could have said THAT a little earlier now, couldn't you?"
His coworker glanced over, tapping the side of his head as he mouthed "Ignis people..." The guard chuckled as he lead Vincent to the door, making him wait even longer to ask for the queen's permission to be granted access to the throne room.

"Come now men, for a guest such as Mister Loque I think we can show him a little more hospitality than that?" Queen Milicia came from around the corner. A young man in fine garments was behind her holding a stack of papers that came nearly up to his eyes. Leaving her aide behind she moved quickly towards Vincent and extended her hand out towards him with her palm turned down.
"It is nice to finally meet the man behind the stories. Yeligar has told me of you and your exploits with him often." Her eyes wandered around his face as she held a charming smile on hers. "Come now, walk with me. Guards, as you were." Her men snapped to attention, and with a wave of her hand her aide scuttled along behind her as they walked down the long halls towards her meeting room.
"I'm afraid you've come at something of a bad time Vincent. Things have gone from difficult to fiercely tense since the Black Rose ball incident. My armies cannot push through past Ketulunanox, and many of my generals are warning me that a counterattack is imminent. Everyday now they have me looking over military reports and so many things I fear my head will spin clean off and away." She chuckled, but it was weak and halfhearted.
"But enough about me. You've come a long way from Ignis. What brings you to my castle?"

Vincent bowed very respectfully (as he damn well should have) before the queen, gently taking her hand and bringing it to his lips.
"Your Highness, I am a man fortunate enough to have stories told about me; I presume they were good ones, of course," Vincent half chuckled as he spoke, walking alongside Milicia proudly, "I also cannot stress enough just how much is probably on your plate at the moment, which is a reason why I made myself come all this way to you. I'm wondering if you'd be willing to possibly accept my wanting to get active as an officer in the military, particularly in Ignis."

Milicia walked for a moment in silence, contemplating the request for some time as they navigated the bustling corridors. "You ask much of me Vincent." Her words broke the quietness of the stroll. "I assume you've heard of Ignis' present situation. With the King gone, I've had a few trusted individuals trying their best to retain order till things with Trucido can be sorted out."
"I've done a lot to that kingdom in a short time. I've caused a lot of trouble in that land, and whether or not it was necessary I've done my best since then to keep out of their affairs." She turned to look at Vincent with a look that showed easily what was coming next. "I can't afford to do something like that for you Vincent. Not only for my sake, but for yours as well. Even if you are Ignisian, were I to place you in command there would be dissent amongst the ranks. They despise me for the war I brought to their shores, and that hate will carry over to you too."

Vincent kept his stare but fell silent for a short period. He hadn't come all this way just to be told 'no' and accept it. He didn't necessarily want to push his luck with the queen of all people, though Vincent had found himself to be most successful when he approached with his abrasive demeanour.
The air Milicia gave off reminded him of his late wife; she could be persuaded, he was confident in that. He had to tread carefully, she was also very independent and a confident woman--you had to be to run a country afterall.
"I understand how serious of a situation it is, though is it really going to end in Ignis just because Trucido is dealt with? Ignis is still left without a ruler and someone needs to restore peace and order in that country. I would have thought someone who was native to Ignis would look better being in command out there."

Milicia could only bite her lip nervously as she walked alongside Vincent. As much as she wanted to ease his worries with the truth that King Volkanon wasn't dead she knew that would only complicate things more.
"Believe me Vincent, things will right themselves when the Sumata are dealt with properly. More so than you think. If you are truly so eager to serve once more, than all I can offer you is a position here. I'm afraid it is one that will be fraught with danger though." She paused thinking of her confrontation with Trucido.
He'll be back for revenge soon enough. Things have been too quiet here for too long after all.
"I've no doubt we could use a warrior to command my men in these harsh times Vincent. Please if you will, take up arms with me and when this is all over I assure you a place in Ignis' military will be much easier for you to gain."

Well, it really wasn't exactly what he was looking for...it meant he was spending a lot of time in Crepusculum again which meant he had to deal with Mel after he finally did get back to Ignis. At the same time, he couldn't complain.
Yet.
"Myself being in danger is the least of my worries. If it allows me to get back to doing what I did well enough and eventually lead me back to my homeland to continue my work, I'm more than happy to do as you need done," he gave a confident grin as he spoke, "someone has to do this job, afterall."

"Well said Vincent. I thought I could count on you." She said as he noticed her steps become a bit more lively. "You're to start right away, assuming you are ready. I will ensure my men get you settled in somewhere nice and gather anything you need to be comfortable. After all, my generals are to be happy if they are to fight well."
"And do not worry. I am a woman of my word. As soon as this ordeal is over I'll do everything in my power to see you serve your homeland again. I would think that a man such as yourself has more than an army to go back to anyway." She joked back with him. "Are we agreed?" Milicia extended her hand palm down to Vincent.

There wasn't much else Vincent could do at this point but to take the queen's hand politely and with an assured smile respond, "We have a deal, your majesty. The sooner I start the better, we're not going to get anything done any quicker otherwise, right?"

"Well said Vincent. We shan't waste a moment then. Follow me to the barracks, and I'll get you introduced to the others. They should be more than happy to see another of the Heroes joining our army." Taking a detour from their easy going journey they set off down a corridor to prepare Vincent for the job ahead.
