Gensayce had led the small party back towards the castle, they'd had to wade through numerous troops to get here but thankfully it seems the royal guard were holding their own against the hordes and had managed to keep the castle safe from their encroaging grasp. They had moved inside and found a small spare room where Gensayce removed his helmet and placed it on a small table, he stretched his fingers before taking off his gauntlets and shaking out his wrists which were thankful to be free of the heavy steel. He turned to the others "We should be safe here, Tempest, you and I may need to help the guard every now and again but they seem to have control of the situation here"

Kara sat down silently on the luxurious bed in the room and watched him as he took his armor off. She closely examined as his hands flexed and his hair fell back into place. "Thank you for staying with me..." Her voice was soft and almost a whispoer. She crossed her arms to hold herself gently. It was funny how one single action could send her world spinning.

Gensayce had pulled off his cuirass, thankful of the breathable tunic which he wore underneath, he disliked the climate here and longed for the arctic colds of Ghiaccio. He glanced across at Kara and sat down next to her, his greaves making a light clinking noise as he did so, He placed an arm around her shoulder and nodded silently.

Kara slowly leaned her head down against his shoulder, her face hidden under a mess of raven hair. "Why do people have to die? It's not fair." She wanted some sort of justification for something so horrible in the world. "Why were all the beautiful things in the world created just to one day shrivel up and die?"

"The cycle," Tempest said simply, who was looking through his pack for a stick of jerky or something to eat. He continued, "nothing can ever last, but I wish it didn't have to happen unnaturally."

Gensayce rested his head against hers and used his free hand to move a few locks of hair from her face "Because without the death of some, others cannot prosper, A friend once told me something incredibly wise" he muttered closing his eyes "Once again the nice ones get it in the neck" he turned his head to face her, gently laying his face against the top of her head "Ir is unfortunatley the way the world works" he whispered.

Tempest shrugged, the conversation not interesting him. He had seen many deaths (never of which he comitted), and had almost come to peace with it. "Yes!" Tempest pulled out a small piece of jerky wrapped in some hide. He also found a thick slab of cheese. "Ooh, life is sweet!" Tempest pulled out a small knife and started carving the mold away from the cheese. He was about to take a huge bite out of it before he remembered his manners. "Would you like some?" He asked the both of them.

Kara looked into Gensayce's eyes with a sigh. "Then I, at least, will never take another's life with my own hands again." She lightly pressed closer to him, her arms finding a comfortable space around his waist. Her lips tilted into a smile at Tempest's wonderful attitude. "I'm not really hungry, but thank you very much."

"I ate before me and the rest of the Kishu came here, although I thank you for the offer" Gensayce told Tempest with a smile, his upbeat attitude seemingly contagious. He looked down at Kara who was simply smiling at him, he placed his forehead against hers finding himself smiling at how close they had become in the last few hours.

"Eh," Tempest shrugged again and started eating. The sounds of distant fighting could be heard. "So, should we find Taggart or just wait?"

Kara found herself chuckling lightly from the same idea. "I hope that...this isn't being too forward...good Sir." She brought one hand up to the back of his neck and pushed down, her head leaning up and pressing their lips barely together. That very first second she felt sparks.

He did nothing at first simply out of shock, but he soon found his hand moving from her shoulders to her waist but he pulled himself back ever so slightly and took a deep breath and biting his bottom lip "I-I shouldn't.." he whispered before speaking aloud to Tempest, his eyes not moving from Karas "I'm sure Taggert will make himself known, but yes, it is best if we are prepared..."

She stared innocently back at him, her cheeks reddened with embaressment. "Why not? I want you to. Unless you didn't like it then that's ok..." Kara finally looked away from him and began to pull away. She should have known better then to take advantage of his kindness.

He held his grip firm keeping her close to him whilst shaking his head "Believe me, it has nothing to do with me not wanting or enjoying that" he muttered again biting his bottom lip which was becoming a tell for his nervousness "It is just I don't know if this should happen" he moved his hands up to the base of her neck "You know what royal courts are like, you'd have nobles over most of Allorum in uproar.."

Kara stopped and looked back at him, his explanation making her giggle. "That is what you've been worried about? I'll have you know royal court meetings are extremely boring without any scandals to talk about. Besides, those prissy know it alls never stopped anyone in my family from doing what they felt was right. Including being with who they truly...loved." She let the last word out with a small sigh. She'd meant every word.
