Hiya guys! Me again, here to spam the stories' board with my writing! Well, might as well get right into it!
Katrin shuffled into her art class along with a dozen or so other students "Pupils, please take your seats immediately so that we may begin on our first project," said the art teacher, Ms. B'Shera. A girl- probably a senior- walking in last, closing the door behind her and walked up to the board. "This is my teaching assistant, Miri. feel free to ask her questions if I am busy and cannot do so myself."
The introduction finished, Ms. B'Shera proceeded to pull the cover off a portrait of herself. "As you can probably guess, our first project will be self portraits. You may use any art style or materials you wish, begin. The final products will be due in five classes time." All the students immediately went to their work. Wow, they really don't mess around here, Katrin thought, going to a supply cabinet to get some sketch paper and charcoal.
After an hour and a half of sketching, the bell rang and the students were off to their next classes. Well, most of them were. Katrin was, instead, wandering the halls, frantically searching the school map for her next class and hoping she didn't look as lost as she was. Where's the greenhouse, why isn't it marked?!? She scrutinized the map for the second millionth time, really beginning to panic.
"Katrin, hey!" a friendly voice pulled her out of her minor breakdown. Jasmine Loque approached, looking sympathetic. "Let me guess- you can't find the greenhouse for Botany?" She sighed, relieved, "It's a common problem?"
"Overly so," Jasmine replied, "They don't have it marked on the map. Come on, I'll show you where it is." "I'll go with you!" The spiky orange-haired kid from gym ran up next to them. His name took a second for Katrin to remember.
"Hi Andy." He blinked, seeming to notice her only just then. "Oh, um, hi... Anyways, I'll go with you!" Jasmine smiled at him. "That's so sweet of you Andy!" Katrin made gagging motions at Andy's back for a moment, which neither of them seemed to notice. "Well, I'm about to be late, so..."
"Right!" They said this at the same time and then looked embarrassed. The three of them hurried off down the hall. Two turns and a door outside later, Katrin saw the greenhouse. "It's a separate building, duh!" Katrin smacked herself in the forehead, feeling stupid.
Outside the greenhouse were several rosebushes, and Andy pulled off one of the blooms and handed it to Jasmine. She turned red and accepted it, smiling shyly at him, just as Andy shouted in pain- somehow he'd gotten tangled in some nasty-looking thorns... Which Katrin could've sworn hadn't been there just a minute ago... The Botany teacher- Lilith- stormed out of the greenhouse, looking furious.
"Andy Jammer, you should know better than to pick flowers off my rosebushes! I should have you suspended..." Katrin snuck into the class while the teacher continued to ream out the poor guy. Thankfully she was so busy doing that she didn't notice that Katrin was late for her class- she was scared of this teacher, just a bit.
Two hours later, Katrin stood in the middle of a crowded cafeteria with no idea where to sit. Jasmine appeared behind her suddenly, "You can come sit with my friends and I if you want." Did she read my mind or something? Katrin wondered, but smiled and followed her to a table, grateful for the save from humiliation.
Sitting at the table were a few people she recognized- Tidus, Andy, Miri and the blond kid from gym class Kevin- and a couple of kids she didn't know yet. One seemed to be a tomboy with her hair tied up in a bandanna and the other was wearing a hat with cat ears sticking out of them. Jasmine began making introductions, and Katrin quickly learned that the tomboy was Faeylinn and the guy with the kitty-themed hat was Koichi. Tidus was too busy bouncing an odd-looking ball off his head to acknowledge her, but Miri nodded politely, Faey got up and practically tackled her with a hug, Kevin waved cheerfully with Koichi following suit and Andy... Well, he was busy staring at Jasmine.
"Hey, I hope you didn't get into too much trouble with Lilith," she said to Andy. He flushed and Kevin grinned, slinging an arm over Andy's shoulder. "And what did our little Andy do that pissed off dear Lilith?" Jasmine was blushing deeply now. "Uh, he, um... Picked a flower..." Katrin's voice dropped to a mutter and she realized that she REALLY shouldn't have told them that.
"A flower?!??" Tidus said, finally paying attention. He and Kevin burst out into laughter and set to mocking him, "Awh, how sweet of little Andy, picking flowers, la la la..." After about two and a half seconds of this Andy hit them both upside the head. "Cut it out!" Katrin sat down at the far end of the table, wishing she was invisible.
After lunch was history class, where Katrin sat in the back to avoid being picked on by the teacher- who'd apparently made it her mission in life to humiliate the students. "I will not accept disrespect in this class- there will be no whispering, no falling asleep and NO PASSING NOTES!" she yelled this as she grabbed a folded piece of paper off a student's desk. "If you can follow those rules, and do your work on time, this class will be fun." Katrin looked around to see who else was in this class- Faeylinn and Tidus were also there, neither really paying attention.
"Now, I believe I've forgotten to introduce myself. I am Hala Loque, and I will be teaching you history- as I actually lived through most of it, who better to teach it to you? Pay attention because we'll be studying the influence of religion on society first..." Snore.. Thought Katrin. Surprisingly, though, the teacher made it interesting. Especially when she demonstrated a common Puritan punishment on Tidus for kicking around his 'Blitz' ball.
Her last class of the day was math with Lana Princel. Koichi was already in that class when Katrin walked in, "Are you sure there isn't anything I can do to help you, Ms. Princel?" Oh god, he's a teacher's pet.Literally Thought Katrin, slightly horrified. She took her seat while the rest of the class filed in- Kevin was among them, talking to a pale blond-haired guy. "... So keep sending her those notes and she'll fall for you in no time, Vaan!" The toehead- Vaan- smiled wistfully, the the smiled faded away, "I hope so. Right now, Faey doesn't even know I exist." "Oh, I'm sure it's not that bad..." Kevin said, then noticed Katrin.
"Hey, it's Katrin, right?" He and Vaan sat down on opposite sides of her. "So, tell us again how Andy went on a flower-picking spree..." Katrin groaned and buried her head in her arms.
After class Katrin was on her way to her locker when she noticed Scarth Vandeel and a few other kids circling Koichi. One of them pulled off his hat, and Katrin could have sworn the cat ears were still on his head, rather than on the hat. But she'd only seen him for a split second before her view was blocked by an intervening teacher. She blinked and shook her head. Weird. Very weird.
