Assuming that this virus rots away at the victim, I don't think you would have to be worrying about them chasing after you. For without muscles how fast could they really run...? Forgetting all the logic involved, I think the best thing you can do is: A: Find the nearest gun store and stock up. Assuming you know how to actually use a gun. B: Find the nearest Marines, Army, Navy, Airforce, ect base. You can only hold up by yourself for so long. C: If that's not possible find a secure location, send out an SOS to anyone who may still be alive and hold up until you have enough manpower to fight back. Good ways to kill them? Place a CD player out in a middle of a field and blast music, Zombies are attracted to noise. Then when they come closer set off a bomb to wipe most of them out, otherwise use a silencer. If the government can't help then find the Red Cross, those people are devoted. Perhaps you should join the army, if you're going to fight a Zombie Apocalypse why not do it with the most advance technology in the world? If it's an airborne virus...? Well, the best advise I have is to put on a gas mask and hope you haven't inhaled any of it. I highly advise against close fighting, they rarely travel alone so you want as much distance between you and them, you have a mind to plan tactics, they don't. And if they do? Well you REALLY don't want to go head to head. That's my advise for surviving, Mark signing out.

The Military, respectfully, is useless. The bases are the first places most people will try to get to, and they WILL gun you down. There is no safety for the military. Just quarantine, Quarantine, quarantine.
Then of course, if it's airborne, hell with it. Spend time with your loved ones.
And I fully say close range is better. Guns jam easier than melee weapons, and they have a mind of their own at times due to small cleaning problems and the like, plus the fact that guns need to be reloaded. A zombie near you catches you in mid reload, you're not loading that weapon. XD;
Of course, I'm an avid Zombocalypse believer myself so...XD
And Heck yes. Guitarists, Bassists, Singers, and Drummers. Any band members can have some awesome effects on zombies with a loud enough amp! |D

Well, I must say that I'm honored to be considered a good teammate to have around in the event of a zombie apocalypse! At least I seem useful, haha. But in terms of swords, they're handy to have around and they're my preferred weapon, but Aya is right in that they need to be maintained - though all weapons do need to be properly maintained to a degree as well. But swords have the unique problem of stabbing through a zombie's flesh and getting stuck in the zombie's body while the zombie is still moving... Still, being able to cleave body parts is useful. So I like my personal cavalry saber. However, an aluminum bat is more durable and probably more practical in most cases.

I have been meaning to respond to this: I have 12 zombies plans, but 11 have same lasts steps. 4. Go to meeting stop with the supplies. 5. Go to the lake/ river. 6. Survive.
I know there are some people are against of water scenario, but I think it would work, Since if Zombies float over, I can shoot them. If they go under water and such, I can just go to a distance that zombies could not reach. And as for the zombies climbing the anchor, then I can put a metal divider on it. I think that I am fine until winter. The 12th one is I knowingly infect myself so I can kill Rosie O'Donnell.

Well, you guys seem to have alot of plans, and sound good. Personally, I'd bring my bokken to the fight, nab a car, zoom to Downtown and find a Pawn Shop/Armory to get guns. Possibly other survivors.
But so you know- on the 31th (Halloween), I'm going to a Zombie Live Action Roleplay to my college with my fellow Guild members. I'm gonna play me, in a zombie outbreak, in a college.
Any tips?
