Am I the only one who wants Taylor's new album? I'd like to hear some honest opinions. From the review ( here) it's chock-full of the kind of emotional songs we expect from her, and upon watching the official video for Mine, the first song on the album, I was in tears because of how cute it is. I understand not everyone likes her music, that's okay. But I wanna know how you feel.

*Beats Taylor Swift with a metal bat* TOO MUCH WHINY GIRLY CRAP!!!
*ahem* Alright so honestly I think she complains too much about getting her heart broken. Yes it sucks, and yes I feel bad for her. But you don't have to dedicate an ENTIRE cd to ended relationships. A pretty girl like her is gonna go through billions of crappy relationships and we listeners do not have the time for that much emotional garbage. Sing about something other then guys please! Other then that she's a very talented singer though >.>

*shrug*
I respect your opinion. However, I would appreciate it if you would check your facts. Taylor Swift has at least one song on each album dedicated to someone other than "guys". Her first album had "Mary's Song" and "Only Me When I'm With You" which was dedicated to her friends. It also had "The Outside" and "Tied Together With A Smile", which were about fitting in, and the second was dedicated to a friend who had several self-confidence issues.
Fearless had "The Best Day", which was about her mother, and "Change", which is about beating the odds.
Speak Now is going to have "Mean", "Never Grow up", "Better Than Revenge", and "Innocent" - Mean and Better Than Revenge are about the bullies she faced in high school; Never Grow Up is speaking to a child about innocence; and "Innocent" is directed at Kanye West, basically saying she forgives him for being a jerk...a lthough I guess Kanye West technically counts as "Guys".
Again. I'm not ragging on you for not liking her; I understand her music is not for everyone. But like I said.... I would appreciate it if you got yoru facts straight before making a broad statement like "Sing about something other than guys."

I understand what you're saying, but in my defense I've never heard of any of those songs. I've never bothered to buy any of her cds and the only songs anyone ever airs or makes official videos of are the ones about 'guys'. I think it would be in her career's best interest for her to push for more advertising of those more diversified songs. Thank you for letting me know there's more out there though.

No problem! I'm always happy to talk about her music~
And yes, I understand what you're saying, too. But at the same time, she also has to think of what sells to her target audience, too.... which is, mostly, songs about guys, broken hearts, new love, and teenage angst.

Ironically I'll be going to look up and listen to those songs later, heh. I like to hear all different kinds of music I can, and she really has a great voice and sound to her stuff. I see her as having a lot of potential to stay in the music industry for a long time if she plays her cards right. She reminds me a lot of a solo version of Aly and AJ lol

Heh, I don't really know a lot of pop artists; I got into Taylor from the country side.
And it's great that you're going to go look up some of her other music! Although, it's probably going to be a fact that most ofher music stays "songs about guys". THat's her schtick, and she does it well. And... it touches hearts, too.

I don't think I'd ever buy a single one of her albums personally. She's worth more downloading than buying for me *headdesk* She's one of those singers who I'd find maybe one song out of every album that I'd like, which is reallllly bad for me. I've gone and downloaded a fair share and sadly a lot her music just teenage whining about...everything. xD; guys, people she knew, things that she puts in a very emotional light that if I were a teenage girl yet I'd have rolled my eyes and said "oh PLEASE, you're petty." Like her song "Fifteen" I wanted to kick kittens every time I heard it. "Love Story" was quite cute if not incredibly cheesy to me, though I really like "Fearless", "I'm Only Me When I'm With You", and the fairly recent "Mine" - why and why not are all irrelevant and I won't get into it. I totally understand her audience and yes, that is what she should work to sell to (like, come on, most of those people enjoy Twilight which is more or less the same audience) because...well, that'd be stupid of her to NOT, ya know? Personally though I think she could still cater to young girls and not sound so whiny/petty/whathaveyou while doing so. She's still young and getting used to the 'big music world' and its retarded rules so that'll come with time. I have more faith for her than most of the young artists nowadays. Though I'm a person who likes Carrie Underwood and the variety of music she plays ; I think SHE'S an incredible role model to the young chickies out there today. That's a whole other convo right there though.
