ALright.
Here, I am going to import some of my new-found computer wisdom.
When taking apart laptops, there are many many many little teeny weeny screws. THese create lots and lots of headaches, but even worse, there are several that the manufacturers love to hide underneath and inside other parts. There are usually several kinds, identified only by mysterious number-letter combinations.
However, all you really need to know about is a particular type. THe 'SHould've Screw'.
THese screws are the ones that when you take something apart, you realize you should've taken off two steps back, when the screw was not only easy to reach but would make the next four steps easier. The ones you can't find, or the meaning for isn't readly apparent.... until, as I mentioned, two steps AFTER you need them gone.
Of course, it could always be worse. THere also exists the 'REALLY Should've Screw'. You know, the one hidden deep beneath the memory or inside a wierd random compartment. THe ones you didn't even know EXISTED until....
CRUNCH. RIP. TEAR.
"Oh. That's why I was having such a hard time opening... that... oh dear."
Oops. Luckily, it was only plastic.
We hope.
Next; the subject of ribbon cables. Ribbon cables are... well.... cables that are wide and flat, like ribbons. Like everything in laptops, these are TEENY TINY.
These teeny-weeny cables have itty-bitty connectors. Heck, you can't even really call them connectors - they're just a pice of stiffer coating meant to fit ito a slot in a particular way.
Many laptops have these things in several places. Most of them connect from the keyboard down.
However, there is one ribbon cable that connects from the motherboard up.
AND IT IS A GIGANTIC FRAGGING PAIN OMG I WILL KILL SOMETHINGGGGGGG>>>>>>
Okay. THere.
The SHould've Screw and the Nature of Ribbon Cable. Rant complete.
