Brea hopped quickly into a defensive position, holding the left katana beside his face pointing at Elysia and the right one held against his left side so that his full right arm snaked around his waist, they had reached a form of stalemate and someone was going to have to break it, Brea was contemplating how to do so but it would need to be done in a way that would let him quickly swap to the defensive if she opened up and started attacking, he thought back to his training and an idea hit him "This better work Alta..." he whispered to almost no-one in particular, quickly opening up his defense he rolled towards his opponent, he stopped a few feet short and roundhouse kicked the floor, dragging his foot through the field, creating a small circle around him before standing up and smirking.
He stood in the circle confidently almost as if he was protected by it, his full guard was pretty much down and the smile that he was giving just radiated confidence and smugness.

A circle in the dirt? Does he believe this to protect him in some way? The strange action kept her defensive as she evaluated his actions. He was far too confident for the circle to be just that, he may have had some form of protective magic, which set her on edge. After a moment, she gave one quick strike at him to see what would come of it.

She had fallen for it.
Brea had turned the steel katana around in his hand so the hilt protruded from his fist and the blade moved up his arm, parrying away the strike with the red katana he quickly lunged forward with his fist, aiming to hit her in the stomach with the hilt of his blade, with his red katana at the ready he was prepared to block any more strikes she sent his way, plus he had turned the blade inwards so that he could follow up his current move.

Her eyes widened momentarily and then there was a bright flash as she brought down the lightning, sending it into the blade of the katana he was attempting to strike her with, hoping it would disarm him before he could continue his strike. Or at least stun him until she could get out of range properly.

Thankfully due to the material wrapped around the hilt of his weapon he was unaffected by the strike, but all the same it shocked him and he stumbled slightly which could give his opponent a crucial advantage, so instead of continuing the attack he dropped onto his shoulder and rolled along the ground, aiming to collide his bulk with Elysia's lighter frame and tackle her to the ground.

She attempted to get out of his way, but he still caught her leg, knocking her off balance dangerously. She stumbled and fell to one knee and struck with lightning again, barely missing- the lightning struck the ground right next to Brea due to his movement.

"Gah!" Brea breathed in exasperation as he rolled away from another lightning bolt "That's gonna get annoying! he growled before charging towards the unbalanced Elysia with both katanas drawn, blunt edges rushing towards her, he wanted to end this sharpish, lightning magic was dangerous and with him wielding metal weapons he didn't want to risk discharging any of the electricity into his opponent, this was a sparring session not a fight to the death...

Elysia barely brought her blade up in time to block one weapon and twisted to try and avoid the other, though it still struck her arm. She grimaced at the sting of it, and forced herself to her feet, knocking the blade she'd blocked away to the side and stepping back again.

She was adamant, Brea would give her that, she was a better combatant than he had let on and he knew it from the start. But now he had proved his point he needed to enforce it, once she had knocked away his strike he lept back and grunted in pain, looking at one of his hands, the pinky finger had been bent back and dislocated, relocating it would be painful but he couldn't find until it was done.
He casually scratched a line into the dirt but unlike with the circle he imbued this with one of he few pieces of magic he actually knew, he effectively had a wall in front of him. Slamming his katanas into the ground he gripped the small finger and bent it forwards again with a sickening popping sound as the bone slid back into the joint. Brea had dislocated a shoulder once when he was young so the pain was no comparison, but he took a hiss of breath all the same.
Picking up his swords he let the wall down and took his defensive stance, he was ready.

Elysia stood there for a moment, watching as he tended to a dislocated finger, and then when he turned back to continue the fight she held her sword horizontally in front of herself. "You fight very well. May I inquire as to your name?"

"Brea Cao-Wei, last of the Itan-Sha swordsman clan, also known commonly as the Heretics" he gave a bow, a sincere one this time "I need not ask your name Lady Donnerlupo, for I know a fair bit about you already!" he stood up straight "my sincerest apologies for the underhanded tactics I used at the start, I was taught to utilise an enemies rage as well as their lack of skill but you regained your composure well, I must admit"

She inclined her head at him, acknowledging that he had made her lose her temper. "It was effective as a tactic, though I would ask that you do not repeat it outside of battle. You are a very good warrior Brea Cao-Wei, and I thank you for giving me a challenge. Are you staying somewhere nearby?.."

"Please, Brea will do" be said nodding "And I stay in the wild, it is where I was raised and trained and I am happy to travel the word Elysia" he continued, not bothering with formalities "No offence intended, it's a lifestyle you'll unfortunately know little about" he knew what sheltered lives the nobility lived "My views on certain aspects of society are very outspoken and my clan was hated for those views, it means I am unwelcome in most towns which is fine by me as my views support this"

Elysia raised an eyebrow at his informal way of speaking. "I can see why. You are welcome to spend the night in the castle as my guest if you so wish, though. Unlike the former king Celtik-" She was specific in not claiming him as her father- "I do not mind non-nobility for company, and other views are welcome. How else would one learn about the rest of the world if they did not learn of other's opinions?"

"Usually when a persons view is that all of the gods are spiteful and hateful, they are shunned fairly quickly" he scratched his head, this was sort of his warning to Elysia, of she was found housing a heretic for the night, then she would lose face to the public "Obviously I do not want to risk your legitimacy to the throne by having a goods nights sleep either Elysia" He was being far too open, she reminded him of someone, it made him equally open as well as wary.
