In a field in the middle of a storm, Elysia spun and slashed at the air, going through motions she'd been taught to defend herself. Her sword flashed almost as fast as the lightning that lit up the sky as she practiced her drills, blocking an imaginary attacker and laying open his throat, then turning to disarm yet another.
She knew it would be more effective to spar with someone, but her 'bodyguards' were too weak an slow to battle her, as well trained as they were. She had even been considering sending invitations to warriors she'd heard of from other countries who were renowned for their fighting abilities to be guests in her castle and face her in battle, to keep her skills sharp.

A sudden clapping burst out to Elysia's left "Bravo! My Queen, bravo!" he said with a clearly sarcastic short bow, Brea completley disagreed with the monarchy system and any form of royal would have to prove themselves to him before he gave them the slightest bit more respect as he would anyone else "Seriously, no sarcasm intended! That was some wonderful swordplay!" he added holding his arms out wide as if motioning to an imaginary audience but also clearly displaying the blood red and steel katana's at his waist.
"But like I said!" he continued resting his hands on his sides almost too casually for someone who was blatantly tresspassing on royal ground (anywhere near the Queen should be considered private property) "It's merely Swordsplay it lacks any real substance that a warrior should have"

Elysia turned to face the newcomer, considering for a moment striking him down with the lightning that was already filling the sky. Then, as he displayed his weapons, she raised her eyebrows- this presented exactly the opportunity she'd hoped for, an opponent to spar. "What would you know of the substance of my fighting skills.." She brandished her weapon at him, a challenge, "If you have never fought me?"

Brea sniffed, clearly un-interested for the time being "I can tell by your stance.." He unsheathed the red katana and pointed it at her feet "Your feet are spaced slightly too far apart, it's great for when you want space to step around and twirl a lot but they're just too far apart to actually be any use when fighting a larger opponent" he then pointed the katana at her weapon "You're holding your sword like a weapon, your sword should be an extension of the body, rather than seeing it as the hilt starting at your hand, you need to look at it as the hilt being connected to your hand and the real weapon starts from your torso" He stretched out his neck with a slight clicking noise "When you get to my experience, you don't need to fight someone to know how they fight"

"Well, perhaps my feet are spaced farther than you are used to, and nor normally ideal for fighting a larger opponent, but," She ran suddenly, blurring and stopping on the other side of him, the same distance away, "I find my speed makes up for that well enough."

Brea didn't bother acting surprised, he had already turned around to face her as she arrived on his other side "That's all well and good, but you'd struggle to produce enough power behind your strikes to deal major damage" He took a step back, again examining her posture "Your speed however is something very familiar to me, I've known a few people who could move at that speed and a few of them proved able fighters" He grunted "But then again, none of them were royalty"

She responded to his obvious sarcasm with a proposition, "If you are such a master swordsman, then spar with me. If I learn from you, then I learn. If not, then I get a good run out of it. An exercise, if you will."

Brea chuckled slightly, why not indulge the girl? Surely she'd notice her mistakes soon enough but whether or not she would admit them and surrender he didn't know "Why not? I like proving royals a thing or two, the expression on their face when they're beaten by a peasant is great" He unsheathed his steel katana and gently kissed the hilt "I'm sure that's something your family knows about..." He had heard of what had happened to her father.

Fury tore through her. How dare he compare her to her father!?! She circled him slowly, her movements methodical and her eyes locked on him, giving him every opportunity to attack first, resisting the fiery urge to rush forward and draw blood, or better yet, to use the power of the lightning in the air to slowly torture him, but she held herself back.

Brea simply held a katana in each hand and stood perfectly still, with his feet a shoulder breadth apart he watched carefully with his eyes as she spun around him, was this her plan? To goad him into attacking first? He could see the anger in her eyes, perhaps he could use this to his advantage? "What's wrong princess?" he asked giving her sarcastic puppy dog eyes and pouting out his bottom lip "Did I hit a nerve? Over daddy?" he sneered "Come on, are you just going to dance? I had a feeling cowardice ran in the family..."

With that last comment her temper broke free, and she lunged, going for a straightforward attack at first, then as she moved closer, jumping five feet to either side quickly to prevent him blocking and finally making the final lunge forward, striking at his right side, ready to jump back in a moment.

Brea brought his left katana over in an arc to collide with the top of her blade, pushing it down before swiftly turning around slashing his other katana outwards, he turned the blade of it inwards towards him, so that any collision with the flesh would simply batter rather than cut, if he hit her at the most it would bruise, maybe fracture a bone if it was the worst case scenario but her fighting style intrigued him, he didn't want to risk injuring her right now.

She leapt out of range of the blade, though it narrowly missed her. She cursed inwardly and backed up a few more steps. I've already made a mistake... Attacking blindly on anger and underestimating his speed.. She hated that he'd already found a way to taunt her into attacking. She forced her temper back into check before stepping forward into range again, feinting at his right side again and then slashing at his left,

Brea suddenly brought the right blade up under his left arm so that it knocked her blade upwards this time, he was staying purely on the defensive. Trying to seize his brought the left blade upwards before bringing it doing towards her shoulder, aiming for her sword arm, if he could injure the stronger arm then he would gain a distinct advantage for the rest of the spar.

The blade sliced across her shoulder before she pulled away, not injuring her enough to force her to drop her blade, but enough that if it bled long enough it would seriously weaken her. She backed away again, allowing her focus to split, capturing a bolt of lightning high in the clouds, keeping it there if it was needed and going on the defensive herself. It would be too dangerous to hold the lightning and attack when she'd already underestimated him so gravely.
