Ghiaccio, after the Lunar incident...
Riliath barged through the royal halls searching for either Kara Samsra or Gensayce Zidjiai. Either way, he'd bump into Gensayce. He was wearing a lighter armour than he had in the past, with less metal and more fabric, but he still cut an intimidating figure nonetheless. His reasoning for the new armour was seeing the fighting on the station during the Lunar incident. Riliath realised that combat was not just about brute strength, it was about agility too. Obviously with less armour though Riliath found his cross halbred (which didn't cover him too effectively) had become rarer obsolete. Apparently, that was why Gensayce had called him to come visit. Riliath strode past the blacksmiths confidently, savouring the ringing sound of metal being hammered into shape... Wait... The blacksmith.. It couldn't be! Riliath paused and turned back, stepping into the forge, resting agains the door frame he chuckled.
Gensayce was shirtless, due to the intense heat of the forge. He was covered in a thin film of sweat and was moving a hot piece of metal into a trough of water, which hissed upon entry. Looking up, the Ice Wolf spotted his friend "Riliath!" He exclaimed, leaving the metal in the water, he moved forwards ad embraced the man whom he shared such a bond with. Their families had been friends for generations and each relied upon the other in a sense. Moving away, Riliath looked Gensayce in the eye "Alright!" He growled in his rumbling, deep tones "What's this big suprise you had planned?" Gensayce grinned but shook his head "Let me just go get changed, and then we shall talk old friend." With that, he left for a moment before returning in a lighter set of armour than he usually wore. Gensayce had always struggled in hotter climates so by removing some plates and an entire sleeve, he had a new set of much more breathable armour. Motioning for Riliath to follow him, they stepped into an armoury, past rows and rows of spears, swords and axes "Did you forge all of these?" Riliath asked, which earned a nod from his friend "Yes. I am the best blacksmith in Ghiaccio, a fair few officers seek my services these days... But this is the weapon I wanted to show you..." Riliath looked up, and stared, slack jawed.
The Halberd was beautiful. It's shaft was polished black wood, with a golden inlay shaped like a dragon, that wound its way around the wood. It's head was shaped like a giant crescent, the middle of which led off to a point opposite, and then a spear head stuck out of the top. In the middle of the blade head sat a red ruby. "By the gods..." Riliath breathed as Gensayce reached up for the weapon and handed it to Riliath, who tested it's weight under his palm. Tapping the shaft against the floor, the weapon stood a little bit taller than he was, its length would help cover him better but his technique would need practise, he would need to be much more precise. It was almost like Gensayce had read his mind "She's yours... Do you wish to spar? Out in the yard?" Riliath simply nodded, still in awe of the weapon. Gensayce grabbed a spear not too different from the one he normally used, and led the Dark Legend out towards the yard where everybody normally practised fighting and their technique. Both stood at opposite ends of the field and took defensive stances, Gensayce held his spear in two hands, the shaft going under his right arm and pointing to the sky, with the blade pointing to the ground at a 45 degree angle. Riliath held his new halberd behind him, with one hand, with the shaft pointing to the sky before diagonally running across his back, and the blade just inches off the ground.
Gensayce made the first move. Thrusting his spear forwards, aiming to catch Riliath on his breastplate, the large man swung the halberd around so that it was now held in two hands with the blade on the left hand side instead of the right, and swung it in an arc, catching Gensayce's blade and trapping it on the big man's right hand side. Then, pushing his left hand forwards, he sent the shaft flying towards his friends face, but Gensayce was too quick for that. Ducking low, the Ice Wolf spun around and pulled his spear with him, yanking it free from under Riliath's weapon, he spun it in a roundhouse towards the giants legs. Riliath leaped over the weapon with surprising speed and landed solidly on his feet, bringing his halberd down on Gensayce's head. Gensayce rolled to his left, standing up in Riliath's right hand side, as the halberd crashed into the earth, Gensayce spun (from his point of view) counter-clockwise, swinging his spear around like a bat towards Riliath's chest. Whilst the blade was stuck in the ground, Riliath pushed the shaft upwards so that it pointed directly at the sky, blocking Gensayce's strike. Spinning clockwise 180 degrees, he sent an elbow into the Ghiaccian's chest, sending him staggering, before pulling the blade out of the ground.
Taking his old position, Riliath chose to attack first, swinging his weapon around in front of him in an upwards arc, he aimed to catch Gensayce off his guard, but Gensayce swung his spear to the side and parties the blow, spinning around and using his spear like a bat once again. Riliath took the blow to the side of the head and rolled with it, landing on one knee he stood up straight and took his position. Some of the garrison had come out to watch the fight now, and most were cheering on Gensayce. Both men charged at once, swinging their weapons towards one another they collided with a screech of metal and wood as they blade locked with each other, Riliath had him, swinging his halberd to the side, sending Gensayce's spear flying, before bringing the shaft round towards his friends face.
Gensayce ducked under the blow and dug his shoulder into Riliath's gut. Pushing with all of his might, he caught the Dark Legend by surprise and tackled him down onto the ground. Clambering onto the big man's chest, he grabbed him by the collar of his armour, and drew his fist back before sending the un-gauntleted fist towards his face.
The knuckles stopped right in front of Riliath's nose, he didn't blink or flinch. He would have taken stronger blows than that to his face. All the same, the garrison cheered and Gensayce broke into a grin, Riliath gave a short lived, rare smile. Standing up, Gensayce offered Riliath a hand and the big man took it, pulling himself up onto his feet. Nodding at one another, Riliath picked up his new halberd and examined the weapon once over and stared down at Gensayce "A fine weapon." He said with a firm nod, which earned another nod from the spearman "Your words do me an honor, Riliath, one I do not deserve. Come, let us walk, I wish to know of your travels." Both still held their weapons and walked off around the castle, the wind was blowing fiercely and snow blew in from the glaciers. The powder settled comfortably on Gensayce, who showed no discomfort in the cold, and any rogue flakes that dare dance near the larger Riliath, melted before they could even brush against his skin.
"How are the Kishu?" Gensayce asked, his spear couched under his arm. Riliath grunted "We grow more and more everyday, after the Lunar incident, Roxa wanted to send envoy's to the different kingdoms, he senses trouble in the air. Dangers even greater than the Ketulunians come to Allorum..." Gensayce frowned at the words "This is troubling news indeed..." He said with a small frown, but Riliath waves the expression away "I did not come here to speak of such things! How are things going here?" Gensayce gave a small smile "Things are well!" Riliath grunted in reply "Queen Samsra has not made you soft?" Gensayce couldn't help but chuckle "My apologies my good friend, we're it me on my back with your fist in my face? I believe I was watching the wrong fight!" Riliath grumbled and slapped him, lightly upside the head "You got lucky is all!" Both stopped upon a figure approaching them, Gensayce gave a small bow "My Queen." He said, Riliath gave a similar bow "Queen Samsra" He rumbled.
