Fillion gave a grumbling huff as he slowed his walking pace to check out the vast expansive scenery that laid out before him. It had been 2 days of uneventful travel, and there had not even been a single person for him to engage with since. It was a shame really, the last fork in the road had such exciting signs pointing to the left. The words, "Danger" and "Ravenous Beasts Inside! Do Not Enter!" flashed briefly in his mind, and for a second he wondered what it would have been like if his coin toss at the fork had not come up tails. As if responding to his thoughts his hand reached instinctively into his left pocket in his robe and stroked the rough edges of the copper coin that laid within. It reassured him, and he put the thoughts to rest as he trekked onwards.
Not more than a minute later and he was indeed rewarded with a loud cry for help in the distance. He bolted towards the sound with nothing but a huge grin on his face and the feeling of arcane power tingling against his fingertips. With a jubilant cry he burst through a line of trees to see a portly man helpless and prone as a pair of four legged furry predators snarled at him. Their eyes and ears perked up at the new presence that had appeared, and for a moment they looked at him puzzled before once again drawing their lips back to reveal a set of long deadly fangs.
"Now now little guys, you can just go on back where you came from and this doesn't have to get ugly." Fillion smirked, all too glad the creatures would likely not pay his words any mind. With a snap of his wrists a bolt of lightning arched out in front of them, dancing across the ground and splitting erratically before vanishing.
Unfazed by his taunt the left creature sprang forward, charging forward for but a moment before pouncing. Fillion waved his hand out towards the creature and in an instant the beast flew backwards as if struck by an invisible force. The other beast took this as an opening and no sooner had its friend been blown back did it bound to the right and leap for the portly man as he cried out desperately for aid.
