Natalya gave a refreshed sigh as the water from her canteen slid down her throat and splashed in her belly. The day's hike had been long, and to see the familiar sight of people and buildings was enough to bring a smile to her face. Shaking her canteen back and forth she felt only emptiness, and with a long ways to go before the capital city it seemed she needed to resupply herself if she was to go any further.
"You're a cruel one you know that? Couldn't even let me have a single sip this whole way." A man behind her grimaced, or at least made what she thought looked like a grimace. Between his swollen lips and broken jaw it was hard to tell.
"If you had been good and not tried to escape last night, perhaps I would have been more willing to share. Now come on, I'm sure this town has a place for a thug like you." Natalya said as she jerked on the rope that bound the man's hands together, leading him closer to the town.
Making her way inside the citizens paid her little mind, and seemed more interested in the man she lead about. Maybe they knew him, maybe he even lived here, or maybe it was because he whined non stop with every step they took.
Seeing a patrolman at last she practically ran to him, eager as could be to relieve herself of her prisoner. With a firm salute she announced herself in a military fashion. "Natalya Banders, Justicar of Eventide. I'm here to transfer custody of this criminal to your jail."
The patrolman seemed stunned. "Guard captain's out. You'll have to wait till he gets back." He blurted out like he'd rehearsed the line to deal with any situation that came up.
"And that will be...?"
"Oh, uhhhhh...soon?" He shrugged with a sheepish grin on his face.
Natalya rolled her eyes, and without another word turned away and headed into a nearby tavern. Suppose if I have to deal with this guy anymore I might as well keep him from annoying me. A little water should quiet him down for a bit. She plunked herself down, and without even looking at the barkeep ordered a glass of water and a beer.

"And there is my friend is how you win at poker." A man with a red and black suit said, as he started to collect all of the coins, then one of the larger drunker guys pulled out a dagger and stabbed the table, getting the sleeve of the man collecting the money.
"Hey, ther-*hiccup*-e is no way a man can be-be that lucky." The large man, Amarro told Ludro, as he gave him a grimacing look
"Ah, but there is." Ludro said, as he pulled the dagger off of the table, "But now my winnings are going to have to be reduce so I can fix my suit." He stood up, and started to walk away, but then Amarro shoved the guy into the bar, making Ludro bump into Natayla. "Oh I am sorry about that ma'am" Ludro said to her.

The unsettling state of the bar and the unsavoury look of more than a few of it's patrons already had Natalya on edge. Ludro bumping into her set her nerves aflame as she whirled around on her seat and leapt to her feet, her hand clutching the base of her hammer as her eyes met with Ludro's. Unfortunately her quick movement had the adverse consequence of throwing her prisoner around like a rag doll just as he had put the glass of cool water to his lips.
"Son of a-Oompf!" Was all he got out as the glass hurtled through the air, coming to a halt against the head of a hefty monster of a man who sat alone in the corner of the bar. He seemed startled by the sudden strike and with a thud stood up and shouted, "Who's the idiot that this glass belonged to?" His eyes darted around before settling on Ludro and Natalya. He rubbed the back of his head as he moved towards Ludro. He stood a good foot taller than Ludro, and probably had a good hundred pounds on the man to boot.
"Got something you want to say pretty boy?" He snorted. For whatever reason, he didn't seem to pay any further attention to Natalya, much less the criminal who had since kept as low to the ground as he could for fear of what the giant would do.

A small humming sounded from the corner of the bar in the shadows. Nobody had really been glancing in that general direction so it warranted little attention. Akuma Shuen, the Knight of Night stepped out from the darkness behind the man who was currently acting overtly aggressive towards Ludro, whom Akuma had conversed with repeatedly in the best. As such, an act of aggression against his fellow Nerezzian was an act of aggression against himself. Walking past the man casually he turned on his heels and stood next to Ludro, with his arms crossed against his chest.
"Now, now good sir." He said in his deep plaintive tone. "I do not believe that this is the time, nor the place, to acquit yourself in an act of violence." Clearly the man did not recognize Akuma or Ludro, most men would simply shiver at the mention of the Knight's name, or the sight of that fluttering red neck scarf that constantly billowed out behind Akuma as he walked.
Akuma reached to his waist and pulled out a few coins, before placing them onto the table. "Here." He said bluntly "Have a drink on me, and if that alone still does not satisfy you..." His red eyes seemed to glint at the man "Then we can take this outside." His tone had changed now, he was no longer reasoning with the man, he was snarling, offering his ultimatum. He could take the meager amount of money as compensation, or he could go outside and risk his life.

"Ah, if it isn't Mr. Akuma." Ludro said as he adjusted his clothes, "It's been an eventful day for you, I'm guessing? I mean you normally would just kick the guy's ass." He just looked at the two guys that were on edge with him. "I remember when I use to be able to go into bars and I would never get into fights."

The hulking man looked at Akuma cautiously, his brows furrowed with a contemplative look as the knight placed the coins on the table. The offer seemed tempting, yet his hand stopped mid-reach as Ludro spoke.
"Think you're tough stuff huh buddy? If you wanna go then say the word." The fiery look in his eyes returned as he stared down Ludro. He clenched his fists and didn't budge, save for a brief glance at Akuma as he muttered, "Stay out of this."
All the while Natalya stood only a step away from Ludro, watching the events play out as her eyes darted from Ludro to Akuma to the giant. Unsure of what to do and even less so of what to say she took a single step back and undid the clasp that held her hammer in place. The last thing she wanted was to get involved, and as her hammer hung heavy in her grip she hoped the situation would not worsen to the point where she'd have to use it.

"Ahh but you see, my good sir. You involved me when you threatened the good Mr Gamblington here." Akuma muttered, narrowing his eyes slightly and frowning at the hulking beast in front of him. Already he was sizing up how a fight might turn out, the man would try to use his size to his advantage and attempt to pound him into the ground, no doubt underestimating his size. From the looks of things the man carried no weapons but could easily be concealing one, Hellious, he could even be a mage for all that Akuma knew.
That there was Akuma's advantage, magic, he was already silently working on incantations which would give him an upper hand if it came to a hand to hand brawl. Aggression Hex's that activated upon a flare of aggression from the man and lessen his strength and increase Akuma's himself. His neckscarf served to prevent the man from seeing his mouth muttering the hex's lightly.
Any magic users nearby would obviously feel the dark magic channeling towards Akuma, and that included the man if he was a mage, which was the gamble he was taking. Even if he was, it was too late for him to do anything now... If he acted aggressively, the hex's would simply activate either way.
"I just suggest you take my payment and walk away." Akuma said, dropping the pleasantries of 'my good sir'.

"And I suggest you shut your mouth and leave me and the pretty boy to our personal business. I ain't no coward, and you can't buy me off!" The giant snarled angrily, his patience wearing with the scarfed knight. Either he was ignorant of the magics Akuma was working, or he didn't care about them.
The same could not be said for Natalya. She had felt the weaving of arcane energy, the way it nipped at her skin as it gathered so closely to its caster. A bar fight was one thing, but the young man's magic had forced her from her indifference. Turning to the bartender she extended the hand holding the rope to him.
"Hold this." A face harsh as stone stared at him till he nodded meekly and took the rope. As soon as she was freed of her prisoner Natalya took two long strides as she rushed shoulder first towards Akuma.

His wards instantly. As soon as they detected the heightened physical aggression towards their caster, they appeared behind him, dark purple runes and sigils that protected the Knight. Akuma initially thought the aggression had come from the man, the force with which Natalie hit him was more than he expected, were it not for his runes, the tackle could have taken him easily to the floor. Instead, he slid agains the floor, his boots making a scratching noise as they did so. Raising his hands, he placed them against Natalie's shoulders and applied pressure, stopping her from pushing him any further backwards. Akuma instantly broke off the contact and took a step away from Natalie. His interest no longer layed with the man, he was a little fish in a big pond, yet this woman had a fire to her, she was definitely more of a threat.
Akuma's hands rested by his sides as he raised an eyebrow and cocked his head to the side "A friend of yours?" He asked, directing the question towards the man, but already he was shaking his head "No... This one has a smell about her." He raised his nose and sniffed the air "An air of justice, valance, chivalry..." He furrowed his brow and narrowed his crimson red eyes as they locked onto Natalie's. "Ahhh..." He breathed "A Justicar..."
