Player: Miri
Name: Bastet (Bast for short)
Description: No two people have ever come away with the same description of Bast; from the flattering to the cursing, she gives everyone a different impression. However, a few things are common to each recount of her appearance - on the tall side, for a woman, singular elegance and grace, black hair, and yellow eyes. Able to blend n wherever she goes, her outfit ranges from elegant gowns suitable for high-class parties and balls to sexy spy catsuits to full spec-ops gear and combat boots.
Age: 25
Personality: Bast is, at turns, mischievous and mysterious, as capricious as the cats sacred to her namesake. Led ever by her whims, she's simply playing around with Falcon until she gets bored, though she approaches each mission with a kind of furious intensity - if you're going to play the game, after all, you might as well play to win.
Place of Origin/Home: Cardiff, Wales
Alignment: Falcon Recon
Occupation: Recon Insertion and 'Extraction' Specialist; day job - archaeology
Equipment: Anything and everything; her utility belt has been said to rival Batman's. Common tools include lockpicks, chisels, night vision goggles, a Swiss Army knife with every current possible attachment (and a few extras), translation dictionaries in various languages, a PDA/phone with more processing power than most computers, and a makeup kit. She always carries bobby pins somewhere on her person
Weapons: Although she prefers to fight hand-to-hand, Bast always has some variety of lethality somewhere on her person; in addition to a varied assortment of knives, she usually carries at least one weapon that looks harmless - bladed fans are a favorite - and a well-concealed pistol, just in case.
Combat: Bast has mastered several forms of physical martial arts, and her fighting style has been described as almost dance-like by those who have witnessed it. She prefers non-lethal confrontations, but will not hesitate to kill an enemy should it benefit her more than leaving them alive.
Magic: Ever since she was a child, Bast has been able to do some things better than everyone else - if she doesn't want to be seen, it's very rare that she is. If she doesn't want to be heard, it's very rare that she is. People believe her lies, disguises, excuses. All her life, she's believed it's a natural talent.
Of course, it is - but it's a magic talent. As one of the very few Earth humans born with the ability to access mana in its basic form, Bast's magical abilities involve illusion, disguise, and charm. On Allorum, these 'little talents' expand to a full-blown magical repertoire with access to the sheer concentration of mana.
Non-Magic Abilities: Due to an incredibly rare genetic condition found in families of Welsh descent, Bast's yellow eyes can see in the dark and her hearing is almost superhuman.
Flaws: The saying goes that curiosity killed the cat - and Bast's whims and curious ways often land her in hot water. She's also vain, has somewhat of a fickle temper, and is easily insulted - and if challenged, she will accept.
History: Maeve Powell was born into wealth and status. Her mother a successful businesswoman and her father employed with a respected research firm, she learned the ins and outs of society at a young age, a quick wit and keen powers of observation keeping her in good graces and out of trouble. Also at an early age, she discovered a knack for accepting and retaining knowledge, and getting into and out of places she did not belong.
A natural curiosity and intelligence led her from one pastime to another, though she quickly grew bored with each hobby and moved on to the next, albeit still retaining the skills she learned from each. Dancing, art, music, her parents could afford the best tutors, teachers, schools in each, and indulged their daughter's whims.
These same characteristics led to an early graduation from high school and two Masters' degrees, one in parapsychology, the other in archaeology, obtained from Cardiff University. She minored in Cymraeg, the official Welsh language, and speaks fluently.
She was about to go for a third degree, in computer sciences, when she was approached by a mysterious factor. He'd heard of Maeve's other exploits - the ones that she executed at night, when no one was watching, the ones performed for the pure thrill and the challenge, rather than the (albeit substantial) monetary reward. How he'd learned the identity of the mysterious burglar of jewels and information known only as The Panther, she would never learn, but the venture he proposed had her variable interest piqued.
Insertion into unknown territory, in order to steal a rare and valuable resource of unknown potency, with no tools but her own wits and a team of strangers?
The perfect gamble, the perfect stakes, the perfect theft - she signed up immediately.
Her place in the team is as Falcon Recon's specialist in all things sneaky - insertion into unfamiliar situations, and extraction of valuable objects and information. As her codename, she took Bastet, goddess of cats and who is said to hold the moon and sun in her eyes.
