I am a HUGE fan of cover songs. Some of my favorite songs are covers, in fact! As such, I decided to start a thread in which you can all share your favorite covers no matter what genre the original or cover version are! :3
I'm going to start us off with a cover of 'Hey Ya' by OutKast, which despite being a very feelgood song in it's own right, became so much happier when it was covered by Mat Weddle, also known on the internet as 'Obadiah Parker' who only used an acoustic guitar and his own voice, removing the drums, bass and changing the lyrics slightly to avoid one horrible bridge in the original :')

Hey there! On a thread about covers, well... It would be wrong not to mention this guy. His range is amazing and while he generally usually only does songs from the mainstream, those covers include several of my favorite artists, male and female. There's more on his old channel, and the one he shared with his producer/cameraman/duet partner/backing instrumentalist, who also has some pretty good covers on his own. They've also got a pair of original songs, too, if you're interested. I've only ever met two of his songs that I didn't like just as well as the originals, and some of them I even like better. His mashups are to die for, too. And in a thread about him, I just have to mention his duet with her, a cover of Nelly's "Just a Dream" that doesn't actually make me want to die of boredom from the monotone. No offense, Nelly, but when singing that song, it just makes you sound like you really badly need a coffee or something. These guys put real emotion into it and their cover is one of my favorite songs.

I can't believe I forgot to put this in the original post.
A radio station show called 'The Opie and Anthony Show' found this guy called 'Homeless Mustard' who lives on the street, they brought him into the studio, gave him a guitar when he told them earlier he could play. He then proceeded to play a rendition of Radiohead's 'Creep' and whilst I'm not a huge fan of the original, and it is pretty obvious that the guy's feeling pretty ill and has a bad throat, it adds a completely new dimension to the song.

I mean I won't lie. I don't know many real single based artists who cover big time songs and smaller songs. I've not been introduced to many covers of that nature- I'm more of a ...lyricless is better, kinda guy.
I'm a bit different on how I like my covers- there are a few I like which I can put up for sure, but then I look back on it- I like Video game music. I like orchestral music. Now if you combine the two with an epic flourish to it- you've got something amazing.
Touhou was a game built by one man, ZUN, who does the game series as a ....way to pass time, but its got a cult following of well over millions, but the games and series were never released as official, and the man behind them all doesn't want a ton of people to play it because he feels the reason why it is so amazing and so many fans do so much work with it is Because it is Cult.
So to hear many character's songs done in different styles by over 5-10 different symphony based orchestras- if those aren't covers on a niche market, I don't know what is. XD;;;
Ps- it's kinda cool cause even if you don't like the sound of a particular song, you can fast forward in this like, 2 minutes and hear a totally different sound.

Ayalan, if you like instrumental/classical-style music, there's a band I really love that you might be interested in. They're called Aston, that's their YT channel. They do classical covers of hit pop music, it makes for a really unique and gorgeous sound, I use them for when I'm writing or doing puzzles

Miri, You hit the nail on the head. I've only listened to the Lady Gaga Symphony so far but it was amazing- I don't like many pop songs but I can definitely appreciate orchestral versions.

I adore Aston. They're just the best. Ever :3 I also like Boyce Avenue for acoustic renditions of pop and rock songs. They also have their own original album out, which I bought on iTunes and is INCREDIBLE.
