"Just sit down there, Blondie. On that stool... It's not everyday that I see so much red. I want to capture it." I command him, sitting at my easel, lowered for sitting on the ground. I was trying capture the view of him in my head so I didn't have to look every two minutes. "The blonde of your hair will be an annoying to mix... But I can manage."

I smiled and sat down. "Sure thing," I said.
Everything in me was screaming that having my portrait painted was probably a bad idea - after all, someday down the road, if the painting survived, there would be me, who looked exactly like it, and I would have some awkward explaining to do.
But, it would make Rin happy. And... part of me definitely wanted to see what it looked like, when it was finished.
So I sat on the stool. "How do you want me to sit?" I asked her, curious. For the reasons I just mentioned, I've never actually had a portrait painted of me before.

"I don't care. Feel comfortable. I don't like painting something organized... Just be how you naturally would. In fact, you don't even have to sit. But it could take a while. Just get comfortable." I command, using my toes to open my brush box. "Oh, and make sure I can see your red."

I closed my eyes, took a deep breath. I scooted the stool back towards a wall so I could lean back - she told me she wanted me to be comfortable, natural. I took another deep breath, let my awareness spread out, touch Rynsaeth's and even farther to Mothers, feeling their energy enter me. Calmed, relaxed, I opened my eyes again, still looking up at the sky.
It'd be nice to have some time, just to sit and think, while she painted me.

I take the time to watch him shuffle aroun and get comfortable. And I grin looking at him. "You look perfectly natural now. Just stay like that. No shuffling." I lower my gaze to the palette with paints I had him prepare ahead of time. Sticking my foot into the box of brushes, I push them around until I find a thin one and pick it up between my toes. "Alright. Here we go." I say with a sigh, letting the colors swirl off the palette in my head until one chose itself to be painted first. It was the orange tint of his glasses. The colors settle as I dip the brush in and bring it to the canvas. "Stay still."

"Alright," I replied absentmindedly, just watching the clouds and letting my mind drift away.
Back to better days, and worse days. I had far too much past to remember, and it sort of carried me along, drifting in an endless sea of memory. I don't get the chance to reminisce very often - I wished, somehow, that I had someone to share those memories with.

"What's on your mind, Blondie?" I ask, not looking away from the painting. "Your vibe is kinda weird right now. Not that I can sense vibes..." I lower the brush and look curiously. "Unless I can. That'd be kinda nifty..." Looking at him, though, it was obvious. He was pretty deep in thought. "Care to share?"

I was pulled back to reality by her question, and I chuckled a little. "Just... remembering things," I said quietly. "Remembering the old days. When things were different." I laughed again. "That makes me sound old, doesn't it?"
I was old. It wasn't very often that I felt it, though. But with everything going on involving the Knights and the past coming to get us... yeah. I felt old.

"Heh. Yeah. It really does. An oldie but a blondie." I snicker at my own joke, perfecting the round spectacles, and go for a darker brown color for the framework. "Tell me about it. I don't know much about the current times... But maybe the past could help me get the present?"

"I suppose I can do that." I smiled. Not too far back... but maybe...
"The truth is," I told her, "I'm much older than I look. Ketulunans, and their descendants, age much more slowly than full-blooded Allorans, and live about twice as long. I remember living in Lunatopia like it was yesterday..."
It might as well have been yesterday.
"It wasn't a large city; nowhere near the size of this one. But it was home. People lived pretty simply, I think, and the Lunar Knights were everywhere. The myths were closer to home. We were the city's secret; it kept us safe, and we kept it safe, while we were home. The Order was strong there, though it was never a formal thing. Old Tarrus' successor was almost finished training, when the attack came..." I sighed, sadly. I'd been friends with old Tarrus. He'd gone blind from a wound in battle in his youth, so I'd been able to remain close to him. I can't resist it - I try as hard as I can, but in the end, I love life and making friends too much to stay away from people like I should.

"Heheh." I chuckle at his explanation. I take extra care to mark the zig-zags of his glasses perfectly, and set down the brush on the ground. I lean back a bit and fall onto my back. "Sounds interesting..." I let out a yawn. I wasn't tired or bored, it was just a sudden yawn.
I throw myself back up an reach for a new brush, dipping it into a yellow color. "Does that mean you're trying to rebuild your order, Blondie? It seems like a good reason for you to be here..."

I almost nodded before stopping myself. "Yes," I said, quietly. "It's long past time when we should have rejoined the world... and this has given us the perfect opportunity to do so." I smiled. "Soon, very soon, we'll be stronger than we ever were. From the ashes, the phoenix..."
I paused, then my smile widened. "The phoenix rises a second time, doesn't it?" Lines from a prophecy I'd thought was fulfilled four thousand years ago.

"Haha. Well. I don't see what a phoenix has to do with anything at all. Or does it? Do we have phoenixes? That'd be really nifty..." Then I blink. "Wait, you meant... Oh, a comparison. That makes more sense..."
The world... "Hey... Vash." I don't know why I used his name. That was 'Guo's thing. "Are you maybe going to Rossia anytime soon...?" I don't look at him as I ask this. I try hard to focus on darkening bits of the blonde color of the hair.

I thought for a minute. "Roccia's actually the next stop on our trip," I replied. "Their king recently went missing, though, so I don't know what we'll be able to accomplish there. After that, we're on our way to Guasto..." I looked back at her out of the corner of my eye. "Why? Something in particular you want to see in Roccia?"

"Yeah. You could say that. Are people things...?" I stare at the developing painting in thought. Are people things? Many treat them as objects. But does that actually make it so? And who decides those things..?
"Well. Yes, there is. I want to see the coliseum. There's something there I want to see..." A few more strokes filled the silence. "Would you take me?"
