Player: Jordan
Name: Kodoku Itami (‘Tami’ for short)
Age: 18
Description: An average sized teenager with dark black/blue, spikey hair with bangs falling into his face. He has dark onyx eyes that seemingly have no colour or emotion to them, the only exception of course is when he uses his Sharingan, in which his eyes suddenly turn red in colour and three black tomoe surround his pupil. He is usually seen wearing a white, low cut shirt and blue pants with a purple rope tied around his waist in a bow which holds a lighter blue fabric around his waist in place. On top of all this, he wears a long black overcoat with the image of a red cloud upon it, the coat goes down to Itami’s knees.
Personality: A cold and closed man, Tami isn’t one for banter and speech, he prefers to let his actions speak for him. Deep down he lusts for more and more power as he hopes to take revenge on those who destroyed his family and clan, underneath all this, if anything, he is simply a boy crying for attention, who wants someone to drag him away from the life that he leads. He has the greatest respect for Kurai Horo who taught him everything that he knows about being an assassin and bodyguard. He will openly help and respect those who he considers to be strong enough to stand alongside him, but there is no chance that he will let them stand in the way of his revenge.
Place of Origin: Ignis, although he’s lived in Ariadelvento for the past few years of his life.
Occupation: Formerly an assassin and bodyguard for the Royal Family of Ariadelvento, technically still active in that role, but he has no plans on returning to Ariadelvento anytime soon.
Equipment: An assortment of gear not all that different from those carried by Kurai, he carries kunai knives, shuriken, smoke bombs and other tools necessary to be an assassin.
Weapons: A Chokuto called the Sword of Kusanagi, Tami can channel his lightning energy into the blade to increase its sharpness and cutting range through high frequency vibrations, it also allows him to paralyze and stun the targets that he hits with the flat of the blade.
Combat: Much like Kurai, Tami uses a number of different skills in his fighting style. He uses Taijutsu, the use of one’s body for combat, in which he uses an assortment of kicks and punches as well as other more unorthodox moves to kill or incapacitate his opponent. More specifically, he uses Kenjutsu, which it the use of a sword or bladed weapon. He uses Ninjutsu which is the ability to channel the energy travelling around one’s body and forming it into different shapes and attacks through the use of hand seals, this is effectively magic. Finally, there is Genjutsu, which is the use of magic to warp the opponents sense of time and reality through magic, this is increased greatly by the use of his Sharingan, which grant him access to even higher level Genjutsu.
Magic: Tami is incredibly proficient in magic, specifically, fire and lightning based attacks. The Kodoku clan is renowned for its use of fire magic and as such, it is no surprise that Tami is commonly seen making fireballs and such through his hand seals, it is rumoured that he even taught Kurai how to use fire techniques, hence the Lunar Knights own proficiency is explained. The lightning based techniques were taught to Tami by Kurai, he trained the boy into channelling lightning based energy into the palm of his hand, the energy released becomes visible as a white-blue sphere with bolts of energy leaping directly off of it and the air fills with the sound of squeaking, almost like the sound of thousands of birds chirping in unison. As such, Kurai calls the technique ‘Chidori’ which translates to ‘1000 Birds’. The technique drains huge amounts of energy from its user, and as such, Tami tries to use it less than 10 times a day, but considering it’s a last resort, this is rare. It also requires the user to move at insane speeds, which can cause a tunnel effect, thankfully, Tami counters this with the use of his Sharingan. Kurai doesn’t use the technique himself because he has a more powerful version called ‘Lightning Cutter’ or ‘Raikiri’ but Tami has pursued the technique and has even altered it, producing a number of different variants such as the Chidori Current, in which he discharges electricity from his body, Chidori Senbon, where he launches thousands of tiny needles made of electricity and Chidori Spear in which he launches a beam of electricity that has a range of about 5 metres.
Tami’s final bout of magic is his eyes, the Sharingan. The Kadoku clan are famous for their eyes, which when they reach the right stage of physical or mental perfection (usually brought on by a traumatic event) they change into the red coloured eyes with the black tomoe. They only start with one tomoe per eye, but as they grow more advanced, they develop a maximum of three per eye, which is when they are almost at their peak. The Sharingan allows the user to see at an almost superhuman speed, meaning they can predict an opponent’s moves with the utmost ease, dodging and striking where necessary, it also allows the user to perform high level Genjutsu, not normally used by other assassins. When Kurai left to help Vash, he believed that Tami was close to unlocking his ‘Mangekyo Sharingan’ which is a higher level equivalent. Whilst Kurai has already done this, he will never have access to the same techniques Tami will unlock from it because he is not of the Kadoku blood line, when Tami unlocks the Mangekyo, he will gain access to a variety of powerful techniques.
The first of these is ‘Tsukuyomi’ which allows him to paralyze and break a target’s will. The second is Amaterasu, which is a black and ever burning flame. The third is Susanoo which is a spectral humanoid being that surrounds the user and acts as its guardian deity, but whilst it is the most powerful technique available to a user of the Sharingan, it also progressively shortens their life span.
Flaws: Tami is currently living off the drive for revenge, he will not let anyone stand in the way of that, which can make him appear cold and uncaring to some, he also has a habit of pushing himself way too far in order to better himself, meaning that if he ever unlocked the Mangekyo, he could unnecessarily use techniques such as Susanoo and shorten his life by far.
History: Kodoku Itami was born in Ignis, as the youngest son of one of the clans most renowned members, as such, his birth placed a heavy burden upon the young boys shoulders. He was expected by many of his clan members to be the shining star of their family, to unlock the Sharingan at a young age and master fire techniques before he could walk. Of course, that was far from the truth, whilst Itami had an amazing drive, and picked up new techniques quickly, he was still a boy at heart, and really wanted to pursue his relationship with his father, to have the bond that so many of the boys in his village had. The closest he would ever get to this bond would be when his father took a break from being the Guard Captain in Ignis in order to teach his son how to use the ‘Great Fireball Technique’ one of their most powerful attacks, Itami completely adored the attention he got, and hoped that it would be the start of a strong bond between himself and his father.
He would never get to see that bond flourish.
One day, upon returning home from school, Itami found that not just his family, but his entire clan had all been wiped out. It didn’t take him long to figure out who the perpetrators were. His family had long been embroiled in a blood feud with the Infernus clan, a family of famous warriors who believed that the Kodoku’s magic was a blasphemy to the way of the warrior, they had clashed numerous times in the past, but few people had ever been killed in the brawls, and now it seems that the Infernus clan had chosen their time to strike. The young Itami ran through the streets of his home town, seeing dead family members everywhere, he made for home, hoping that against some insane odds, his parents had survived. His father was captain of the guard, his brother was one of the guards, surely they should have managed to fight off the Infernus’ right?
He was wrong. His entire family, was dead.
Where could he go? He was now, well and truly alone in this world, with no-one left to protect him, no-one left to care for him. Then it struck him, he remembered his father telling him about his brother, Tami’s uncle, Kodoku Kagami who had travelled to Ariadelvento in order to learn how to be an assassin and bodyguard, the man had been killed by a travelling group of Infernus clan members, which had started this particular flare up between the two clans not so long ago. But he remembered his father telling him about the son of the man his uncle had been serving under, a man named Kurai Horo, who was supposed to be a great warrior and assassin.
So, Tami instantly made for Ariadelvento. As he left his home, he spotted a vision of himself in the blood on the ground, he was stood there, his eyes as red as the blood he was staring at, one black tomoe imprinted onto his iris, he was only 8 years old and he had already awoken his Sharingan… Could this be the start of a path to power? Either way, he had to make his escape first. Smuggling himself onto a cart full of supplies, he made his way towards the Kingdom of Lightning, where he soon found a young Kurai Horo, and pushed the man into training him. The assassin, remembering his friend Kagami, caved, and offered to teach the boy all he knew. So, for the majority of the next ten years, Tami spent his time training and learning new techniques, including the Chidori as well as advancing his Sharingan to the third tomoe, he had a short break when Kurai went off to deal with the Lunar Incident, explaining that as a Lunar Knight, it was his duty. During this space, Tami spent his time perfecting the Chidori, enhancing and perfecting his skills with it, as well as continuing his current practise of Kenjutsu, aiming to be a better swordsman by the time his sensei returned.
He achieved that goal, by the time Kurai returned from the station, Tami had got to the point where he was besting most of the other assassins and guards with his swordsmanship. But Kurai also noticed that the boy was being incredibly brutal and aggressive in his fighting style, no doubt caused by the burning feeling of revenge in the pit of his stomach that Kurai had hoped he would grow out of. Still, he went back to training the boy, handing the Sword of Kusanagi which had belonged to Kagami, down to him. Tami instantly went to work, practising channelling his lightning based energy through the blade, turning it into a super-sharp weapon which could cut through almost anything like a hot knife through butter.
And then, Kurai went away for the second time, he said that his friend Vash whom he had helped during the Lunar Incident was trying to rebuild the order of Lunar Knights, and it was down to him to help him achieve his goal. Tami was sad to see his sensei and friend leave, but it had to be done it seems, the young assassin was left in the care of the other Royal Guards and Kurai went on his way.
Life under the others however, was boring, Tami was learning nothing new and he was getting no closer to his revenge, so packing his equipment and throwing on his cloak, he left Ariadelvento, aiming to get his revenge on the Infernus clan, and maybe, if he was lucky, bump into his old sensei again.
