Current Leader of Nation: Alexander Frexton
Current Captains under Ruler: Alex of Santo-Luce, Zeke Omoihake
Military:In general, Santo Luce in recent times (since at least Bradley Frexton IV’s ruling) has been a very pacifistic country. This means they avoid war and battling as much as they possibly can. When attacked they will defend and when war breaks out they are more than happy to aid the injured and provide shelter, protection, and supplies. They rarely ever raise their own weapons otherwise.
Aside from trained soldiers that use physical weapons, Santo-Luce employs mages into their military. These mages are dispensed into different factions depending on what type of magic they perform but not a single one of them practice dark magic (see: laws). For the most part, they blend in with your common soldier, and most of them are also equipped with weapons to attempt throwing off potential enemies.
Clerics are the most deadly and at times most inconspicuous of the military. They're the 'special units' so to speak, lots decorated with armor and a weapon or two and appear very obvious but some of the more powerful ones look to be no different than your average priest, conveniently stationed around Santo-Luce and patiently watching for trouble to be afoot.
Resources:
*With rich soil and just the right amount of precipitation and sunlight, Santo-Luce provides some of the best land for agriculture, being able to provide on a nearly flawless schedule to Santo-Luce and a lot of Allorum.
*Because of its very clean waters, Santo-Luce is also home to a lot of exotic fish that are frequently caught, sold, or sent away to scientists or doctors who study and use what they can to create and sell ointments either cosmetically or for medicinal usages.
*The Teflah fruit is one that grows only in Santo-Luce and is a highly-sought after ingredient in Allorum because it is full of high potency of antioxidants and healing properties. The fruit is expensive alone, the medical concoctions and juices made from them sell across Allorum for an even prettier penny.
*The Astrana fruit is another popular fruit native to Santo-Luce that is known for producing one of the sweetest wines in Allorum and sells finely around the world.
*Santo-Luce is home to the golden chrysoberyl, mined a little ways from the Chiaro Creek and made into beautiful jewelery, prayer beads, and used for healing stones.
Relationships with other Nations:
Crepusculum - allies
Unda - allies
Nerezza - friendly
Others...?
Important/Unique Locations:
*The temple on the far west of the castle grounds is one of the biggest and oldest, and said to be personally blessed by the god Felios--every fourth day when temple services are going on there is usually a very large lineup for people to even try to fit all in.
Important Organizations:
Historical Tidbits:
*For the last five hundred years only men (the Frexton family) have been in power.
*Santo-Luce and Nerezza initially became enemies due to a vampire hunter becoming king and spreading wild tales about the 'dark creatures' in Nerezza. Books in Santo-Luce to this day still say Nerezza is full of evil, everything is in the process of being amended. The war only in the last year or two has settled as the king of Santo-Luce and queen of Nerezza have come to an agreement and for now things stay eerily peaceful.
*Oliver James Frexton is a historical priest figure for performing holy miracles and "ridding the world of complete darkness" with a mighty summoning spell--this lead to him becoming the first king in the Frexton bloodline.
Famous for...:
*The country is a highly spiritual one, with frequent religious gatherings and festivals. The religion revolving around the god, Felios is the most common, though not the only one involving a 'light' god.
*Santo-Luce is a very sunny, warm place to live. Precipitation is average, the water is very clean, and the plants are always in full bloom all year round. If snow hits Allorum it doesn’t touch Santo-Luce.
*Its beach, nominated as one of the 'most romantic places in Allorum', with soft white sand that has a peaceful, light glow to it at night under the moonlight and with sparkling treasures that like to wash up along the shoreline.
Random Factoids:
Gem: Golden Chrysoberyl
Flower: Santo-Lucian Hibiscus
Events/Festivals:
4th day of every week – ‘Temple Day’ – Whether you attend or not, all local businesses are to be closed from sunrise to sundown as most of the citizens visit their local church/temple/spiritual gathering. Mass is held, filled with the reading/singing of psalms to the god, Felios.
**Alexander Frexton conducts his own gathering at the Solar Castle on these days
Major Laws/Common Punishments:
No exceptions. Exactly as the royal has written them.
1.) Businesses are to be closed every 4th day of the week for spiritual reasons - fined three times before dungeon
2.) Machines/weaponry from Ketulunanox and the Chalybs are either prohibited or restricted (see “limitations” below)
3.) Prostitution is illegal (sorry, Volk) – dungeon time
4.) Shoes are to be removed before stepping into any spiritual building - dungeon time and possible banning from temple/church.
5.) Weapons are discouraged during festivals, though are not banned unless posted before the hosting of the event. Failure to discard weapons before a festival will have them confiscated/possible dungeon time
6.) Please, no thieving the coins from the Lux Lucis city fountain. Consequences for theft are weighed individually.
7.) Applicable during times of war: Plays involving war themes will have the playwright fined and the show’s production/performance immediately ceased.
8.) Polygamy is illegal--weighed individual cases.
9.) Anyone who is capable of performing a dark art or dark magic of sorts is immediately viewed upon stepping into the border a suspicious individual, and there is no exception (aside from Queen Elexa and her captains, really). At any point whether you do wrong or not, you may be interrogated or arrested, if not forced to leave the country<--usually an extreme case for those who are adept enough in dark magic that they are, by Santo-Luce's standards, a "witch".
limitations – It’s acknowledged that while Santo-Luce is pacifistic in general, not everyone accepts that lifestyle and as such are allowed a wide variety of weapons. Anything more advanced than sword/knives/bow & arrow/simple weapons however will be confiscated/directed away from Santo-Luce’s borders to keep the general population at ease and also protect the country from harm as a whole.
As the king is pacifistic the typical punishment is either a fine, confiscation of something, or dungeon time unless the crime is major enough it needs to be weighed by the royal in power. Typically, for common crimes involving easy solutions are judged by the clergy. Examples of the common things are:
Theft petty/major – dungeon
Murder – dungeon for life
Treason/similar – to be decided by the king
Each case is viewed individually and where precedent is typically followed, if your crimes can't be decided upon or there is confusion it goes directly into the king's hands.
