Current Leader of Nation: King Roxa Hiaten
Current Captains under Ruler: N/A
Military: Considering Roccia's large and open deserts, the majority of its military comes in the form of heavily armoured cavalry who act as the head of the spear, paving the way for light infantry and archers. Out of all of their units, the most feared is the Wolf Guard, a group of heavily armoured knights trained by Gensayce Zidjiai and mounted atop snowy white steeds, earning them the nickname of 'The White Riders of Silicis'. They also have small regiments of Geomancers to help manipulate the battlefield to their liking.
Roccia has a number of able generals and strategists who can lead their troops to victory in even the most difficult of situations. They fight best on their own territory, but any open space is considered to be the wrong place to fight with an army from Roccia. Any terrain can be almost instantly flattened by the Geomancers, making problems for most opponents when combined with the strength of their cavalry.
The military is technically under the command of the King himself, however, he usually delegates the role to his Commander-In-Chief, Riliath Infernus.
Resources: Given the nature of Roccia's landscape, numerous mines have sprung up all over the nation, giving way to numerous exotic minerals and metals. Under King Roxa, a horse breeding program has been initiated, in the hopes of making Roccia one of the largest exporters of horses on Allorum.
Relationships with other Nations:
Due to it's arid climate, Roccia has little in the way of a farming community. The land is populated with a variety of beasts to hunt, and there are some plants that are tenacious enough to survive the kingdom’s climate, but for the most part Roccia must rely on trade with Alberisato to attain a food supply. In exchange Roccia has a rich amount of mineral veins that they export in exchange for supplies, making Roccia a nation that thrives on a global economy.
Likewise Roccia shares a tense but useful relationship with Chablys, as its blacksmiths and craftsmen make many of the best weapons, armour and tools that are often sought after by tribe leaders. While Roccia trades much of their mined resources in exchange for Chablys worked goods, there is always an underlying fear that the Chablys people might one day decide to invade to obtain the rich veins for themselves.
Lastly there is some leftover goodwill between Roccia and the nations of Santo-Luce and Crepusculum due to the interactions of their leaders with the former ruler Seigmand Dezmar. While a closely guarded secret, their alliance during the reign of the Sumata 13 might still hold some political sway, even though King Roxa Hiaten is now in power.
Important/Unique Locations: Silicis City - The largest city on Allorum, Silicis City is perfectly located atop a large hill and contains numerous heavy-duty gates which can cause many problems for invaders or attackers. It has a thriving marketplace that receives a fair amount of trade, and its people are as strong and hardy as the walls.
Quemadura Desert - A large and expansive space of sand, rocks and dunes, the Quemadura Desert is used by pilgrims from all over Roccia, as well as being the perfect training ground for the Roccian Cavalry. As once stated by the Commander-In-Chief, Riliath Infernus;
"If you can ride over sand with no problem, you can ride over anything"
Society
Roccia’s social culture developed around a tribe based way of life. People of Roccia are born into a tribe, raised in a tribe, and belong to that tribe all their life. Any that leave a tribe or are banished from it are usually doomed to leave Roccia for another kingdom lest they die alone in the desert, as many tribes refuse to adopt newcomers. Most tribes are lead by an elder, or a warrior leader depending on their belief systems. All warriors grow learning to hunt and fight with weapons. Spell casting is a rare skill held by any Roccians, as materials to learn spells are held only within the walls of Silicis.
Important Organizations: Wolf Guard - The Roccian Royal Guard; They play an integral role in Roccia, acting not only as the Royal Guard, but also acting as a special military unit under the direct control of Gensayce Zidjiai, a form of police force that in the worst case scenario can be sent out to deal with riots and in a sense, they act as poster boys for the Roccian Military, being the ultimate symbol of cavalry might.
Kishu - A former mercenary group led by King Roxa; After the rebellion that placed him upon the throne, the majority of the Kishu were given the choice to go home to their families if they had them, and a fair few did just that, returning home with a large pay rise as a gift from the new King for their hard work and loyalty. Those that remained were turned into a military regiment that consisted of mostly light cavalry and infantry. Whilst their gear is not as up to scratch as say, the Wolf Guard, they have lots of experience under their belt and are an important aspect of the military.
The Stone Pillars - King Roxa's 'court' if you will; It consists of military and civil advisers whom Roxa can turn to at a moments notice if he feels that he is in two halves about something. The Stone Pillars have only recently been established and have yet to have their first 'official' meeting.
Miner's Guild - As those responsible for harvesting Roccia's most precious resource, the Miner's Guild is responsible for creating a delicate balance between the tribes so as to prevent in-fighting over the many mines and veins located in Roccia. Maintained by an agent from each of the numerous tribes the workforce is made up of the Geomancers and the exiled that had shamed themselves and chose the lifestyle over death. As a general rule, the Geomancers are taught the art from a young age, with a master taking them in and training them in the art till they are ready to work on behalf of their tribe. In a way, the life of a Geo-miner is much closer to that of a monk, as they are taught to respect the land and its gifts, creating a spiritual bond between users of Geomancy and the land around them. Geomancy is a skill rarely taught outside of mining, and its application in battle is extremely frowned upon by all but the most war mongering of tribes in Roccia.
Historical Tidbits: The current King, Roxa, took the throne in a rebellion after he pointed out the weaknesses of the ruler placed in the stead of Seigmand, and made note of his own connections to ancient bloodlines.
Before Roxa Hiaten's rise to power, the Asmati Tribe held control over Silicis City with Seigmand Dezmar as it's acting king. As such their tribe, as well as the Basht and the Orion Gem hold resentment for losing their seats in the Council and being taken down by an outsider.
Famous for...: It's lack of naturally growing plants, it's long and hot deserts, the Mons-Montis Mountains which are considered the most dangerous on Allorum and it's arena.
Random Factoids: Roccia's current Royal Sigil is two, white, reared horses back to back with two, grey, crossed swords above them, the tips of the blades pointing up and away from the horses. A golden crown hovers above the swords and all of this rests on a brown background.
Horses are well appreciated in Roccia under the new King's rule, and he has started a 'Royal Herd'. Once every year, he plans to put out five of his stallions for breeding at an incredible low cost.
Roccia strongly believes in the power of the people, given it's large landmass, and these people are incredibly loyal to the new royal family, given their liberalness. It is rumored that if the King called up his peasant milita, he would be fielding over 1 million troops, however, King Roxa doesn't believe in pulling the people into his wars.
King Roxa initially thought of banning the arena considering it a waste of human life, however, after some initial persuasion from Riliath Infernus (who was an arena champion back in Ignis, famous for defeating fifty opponents at once) Roxa decided to keep the arena open, and used convicted criminals as combatants. Volunteer combatants would fight these prisoners, or wild animals instead.
There is currently no emergency plan for what would happen if Ave, the evil spirit within Roxa, were to take control, whilst the King was in court.
