Within the chasm, about 15 yards beneath the precipice was a ledge. Laying on it was Yeligar passed out from the fall and the blood loss. Yeligar looked up at the sky, and saw the ship going into the pipeline, he smiled as he saw them leaving, Mission accomplished… He thought as he tried to get up, but with his wound and blood loss, Yeligar laid back down. His eye got heavy and he shut it, turning over and letting the crushed relic dust flying away.
Diagonally across from the cliff was humanoid like demon, rubbing his face in pain. It looked up and noticed Yeligar laying on the edge. Its mouth started to water, and jumped across the gap, and grabbed the wall beneath Yeligar. It climbed up, and as its fingers touched the ledge, something in front of its face started to glow. The light then exploded, making the demon losing it grip and fall further down the chasm.
The light died down, and a moth turned out to be the source of the light. It fluttered off of the wall and looked into the abyss.
“You are not going to take this from me.” The moth said in a husky male voice. It then flew up and landed on the ledge where Yeligar was. It examined the body, when it stumbled upon the back of his chest, and noticed the red blood stain on his back.
“Wait… red blood? This isn’t a demon.” The moth said, it then flew around towards Yeligar’s chest and spotted Hydmuertos’ sword.
“So, this must have been one of the invaders and killed the demon king. He might be more useful to me alive.” The moth said, as it flew to the hilt of the sword and pulled it out. It dropped the sword on the ledge and fluttered over the wound. As the dust landed on the wound, it healed the wound. The moth landed on the sword, and waited until Yeligar regain conscious.
After an hour, Yeligar raised his hand to his face and rubbed it. Yeligar then realized that he was still alive. Yeligar sat up and while the wound healed, he was still in pain. “Augh… How did I survive that?” Yeligar said as he looked up, and then he looked to see the sword with the moth on it. Yeligar tried to shoo the moth, but the moth flapped it’s wing.
“You know, that isn’t a nice way of thanking your healer.” The moth said, making Yeligar startled. “Wait you can talk? … I really shouldn’t be surprise now what can talk and what can’t” Yeligar said as he sat up a bit slower. He finally stood up, and looked at the moth, “So you are the one that healed me… Are you not a demon?”
“Well yes, but not all demons are bad” said the Moth. Yeligar looked at it with a ‘oh really’ look, then the moth sighed loudly, “Ok, I WAS going to eat you, but after defeating Hydmeurtos, I figure I would have more use for you than as a meal.”
Yeligar grimaced, “Well you aren’t the first being that wanted to eat me,” thinking on the number of times that the Other said he wanted to see how he tasted, “but what makes you think I would be willing to help you?”
“Ok, I thought you want to weaken Duo’s forces AND get back to Earth, but it sounds like you like it down here, so I will go find another meal.” The moth then started to fly away, but then Yeligar stuck out his hand,
“Wait… You aren’t tricking me.” Yeligar said, still not completely trusting the moth. He pulled out the crystal eye and put it away in a pocket in his cloak, and putting his eye patch back on.
“Trust me, I am your only friend down here.” The moth said, “My name is Lagriv, friend.”
“Now, I just want to know, what do you get out of helping me?” Yeligar asked as he picked up Hydmeurtos’ sword and putting it on his belt.
“Well, I get a nice piece of land which I can call myself king of.” Lagriv said as it landed on his shoulder, “However, I need to know you are committed to doing this. This isn’t something where you can just jump into, I need to know why you fight.”
Yeligar looked at the moth and raised his eyebrow, “Why does it matter to you, why I raise my lance?” He asked as he looked at the wall,
“Because, You need to success, and if you don’t they will find out that I asked a human to help me, and they will send me to a place that is worse than dying.”
“Then why even do it?” Yeligar asked,
“Big risks equal big payouts.” Lagriv said, “So do we have a deal?”
“What is it that I am even doing? And how does it mean I am getting out?”
“It’s simple; There once was being named Kain who raised the tower from Hellious to Allorum, Well it is still up and connected to Hellious, and that his how Duo is getting all of his troops out of here. If you go fight the demons while they are here, it will surely weaken his invasion, and then you can just leave the tower from there. Then when you do that, I can just claim most of the region as my own. Simple right?”
Yelgiar looked at Lagriv, and then at the wall. He found a rock to grab on and started climbing the ledge, getting closer to the ground. Lagriv crawled into one of the pockets in his cloak.
“You know, you never answered me. What is it that you fight for?” Lagriv asked as it got comfortable.
“If I didn’t think I could have not done it, then I wouldn’t be up here.” Yeligar said as he grabbed on the edge. However as soon as he did, the rock broke away, making Yeligar reach his other hand, hoping that he could catch something, and not fall back down the abyss.
