"......Master, you are scared of mice and mermaids."
She blinked, still not quite getting what was so bad about Mark. Though a lot of that probably had to do with the fact that she knew something about Mark that was astronomically worse than oh no, he has an adult daughter he's 'wayyyy too old' for her...and even then she still didn't really care, apparently. Or she did, just...it was like a fun game...where death was probably highly probable if they were found out.
Shanira was a bit of a thrill-seeker, what could she say?

Mark's heart warmed as Shanira spoke at how happy he made her. But when the word 'bunnies' came out of Alexander's mouth, Mark couldn't help but look around nervously for the furry devils, look at these people... They have no idea what those bunnies did four hundred years ago. They're a threat to humanity!
Shaking his fears away, Mark looked back at Alexander and tried his best to defend himself from the vicious attacks that were made against him, "No offense, King Frexton, but you were what every father feared," Mark gritted his teeth as Alexander tried to paint a terrible picture of him. Completely ignoring the wonderful things about him - like how Mark could make a mean taco, and... and...
How he was pretty good at killing people...! yeah...
He sighed, turning back to Shanira before laughing nervously, "M'lady, I was going to tell you about all of that. I just needed, you know, some time!"
Shanira didn't seemed insulted or disgusted by any of this, which only seemed to make her the greatest celestial guardian an Archangel/God could find!

Alexander crossed his arms.
"If that was so, then what are you? At least I didn't show up at your home kicking over guards and being a public menace!"

Shanira's head tilted to the left as Mark spoke, seeming to be highly flustered about the great reveal that he had a daughter. To be honest she could understand why Alexander would bring it up and how the intent was to make Shanira get angry over it, something to do with how there was some other woman in his life. But maybe it was just Shanira being a little too overly confident in that if there did appear to be another love interest in his life, she'd completely waste them.
Shanira was confident she could take on anything when she really wanted to. Though honestly if it worked out that way Mark wouldn't get out of it unscathed, either.
"Master. I come from Heaven, and Allorum is so different. You are the only one I can talk to unless I learn to speak with mortal people," Shanira said sadly with a frown, folding her hands together in front of her, "it's hard to do that..."

Alexander frowned as Shanira made her plea.
"...Ah geez, you're doing this," he groaned as he buried his face in his hands. It was a guilt trip, and it was working too well. He felt bad for Shanira to have to be linked to him already and actually at points physically suffering whenever Alexander got too upset about anything, but then she had to remind him that she was 'so alone' here unless she stayed with Alexander.
Because he could talk to her, they shared a language that most mortals couldn't speak. Though Mark could, too. Alexander didn't know anyone else in the world who had that ability.
He let out a sigh, dropping his arms and staring tiredly at both of them.
"This is really going to make you happy, isn't it?" he said to Shanira, and even eyed Mark to give the hint that the question was hinted at even him a little.

Mark closed his eyes for a moment to focus, with his eyes shut he could feel every beat from his heart... how it quickened when Shanira stood by him and how it slowed when she stepped away. For so many years he had lived for two reasons - taking care of his child and finding the people responsible for the assassination of his wife.
Now, Harumi was getting older and starting her own life and Trucido was dead. There was nothing left for him in Allorum except to stay up in Heaven and monitor the safety of the world. But now... there was something else. What was it? Mark couldn't really say, but he did know one thing...
He opened his eyes, looking right at Alexander, Mark opened his mouth to say some words that he hadn't been able to say for a long time.
"I'm happy," he stated, to many it might seem somewhat irrelevant (everyone is happy once in awhile), but to Mark it meant something completely different, "It's been a long time since I've been able to say those words. I'm happy when I'm around Shanira."

Shanira smiled at Alexander.
"No matter what, you are my first priority. When you are distraught and scared, I will be here. When something intends to hurt you, I fight to my very last breath for you, Master," her head rolled to the right now as she spoke, "your happiness is mine. Your approval of my behaviours makes me happiest."

Alexander's eyebrow raised as Shanira rattled off her usual loyalty speech to him. Sometimes it was very moving and sometimes, like right now, it was a tad creepy in small ways.
"You know I don't like it when you word it like that," he answered with a frown, "you make it sound like I'm supposed to like him in order for you to be happy."
Alexander sighed again, memories of he and his father arguing over who Alexander at one point was 'supposed' to like and consider relationships with. It didn't matter what he thought, his father always insisted he chose better and the boy never rarely got a say in it. Alexander remembered how frustrating and unfair it was, and how it eventually led to the boy running away for what he thought at one point was for good until the former king became so ill...
He shook his head. Bad memories, and he didn't want to get into it. He gave Shanira a sympathetic smile.
"If you're happy, you do what you want. You can't always be thinking of me, it isn't right and I don't care what Felios says about that," his voice lowered then into a threatening growl as he turned to Mark, finger pointed again and eyes narrowed, "as for you...she's to be back no later than midnight and you keep your hands to yourself! None of your funny woo-hooing around!"

"As you wish, King Frexton." Mark was pleased with how well this went, considering he expected Alexander to summon the Santo-Lucian army to try and kill him.
Turning back to Shanira, Mark outstretched his hand for Shanira to take it. "I'm ready when you are." Mark said while flashing a grin at her.
Mark tried to ignore the thoughts that came into his mind, but dammit, he couldn't help but think Alexander was a better parent than he was! Granted, at the time Alex was trying to go out with Mark's daughter they were on opposite sides of the war... and the fact Shanira wasn't actually Alexander's daughter, too...
Shaking those thoughts quickly from his head - his entire goal of the night was to give Shanira a great time while trying to find out more of the seemly complicated lady.

Shanira shrugged at Alexander. She'd come to know that her master felt highly uncomfortable when she spoke of her life being devoted to him and his well-being but it was something he still didn't fully accept, she guessed. It was the truth, she was created from him for him, essentially, he was like a mortal twin brother of hers that she had the responsibility of looking after. She didn't really understand it. It wasn't an issue when she prounced around in her fox form for all these years--why did it make a difference now?
Her attention was thrown back to Mark as his hand reached out towards her and she looked from him to Alexander with a smile.
"If something happens, Master, I will be here for you, this I promise. I'm the fastest, remember," she assured him with a grin of her own, her eyes showing a gratefulness to Alexander as her hand grabbed ahold of Mark's warmly.
Time to do what he'd always encouraged her to do and she'd been hesitant of doing so--go have some fun for herself.

Mark gave one last awkward smile over at Zeke before turning around and leading the way out of the castle. He chuckled a bit as he crossed the two guards who were rubbing their bruised heads, quickly giving an apology to them as they walked by.
Mark looked over at Shanira and smiled weakly, "I'm sorry about that. I swear I didn't mean for it to go down like that at all."

Shanira didn't look back as they made their way out of the castle, finding herself giggling at the sight of the clerics and guards that clearly tried to stand in Mark's way.
She smiled up at him, giving his hand an uncomfortable squeeze as she weighed how she should respond. Naturally she would roll out a response automatically with her first, celestial language but she kept a conscious reminder in her head that she should be speaking the common language that the Allorum mortals spoke. That and if she practiced hard, she knew Holmes would reward her with strawberry crepes--she learned that the more she learned and spoke, the more praise and sweets she got especially from the old man. And dammit she loved crepes.
"It is...fine," she finally spoke, surprisingly quiet, "no sorry. I have think about this for long time. Master and men are...be mad, every time."
She wasn't sure how much sense it would really make to him. She'd gotten much positive responses from Holmes, Alexander, and Zeke that she felt like she was starting to get used to having a short conversation with people, save for a few words she didn't know how to say or use, but she hadn't tried it on anyone else really.
"We have fun, you and me. You know where?"
Shanira was curious, having him show up to know if he had come with a plan for them tonight or not, and if so what it was. And out of habit, she had come up with a plan of her own just in case. A good woman was always prepared!

It didn't occur to him at first that Shanira was speaking in Allorum's universal language. Mark, who was able to seamlessly switch between them took a moment to catch on to what she was saying.
The way she spoke made him smile, the missing holes in her sentence and the always questioning voice was incredible cute. Mark focused his eyes on the horizon, where tall structures in the city were lit up bright with lantern light - it was the result of a five day long celebration in the city.
"It's been a long time since I've been there, I thought it'd be pretty fun if we went together," He spoke a little slower than normal so she could follow his words better. Not to the point of mockery, but as a polite gesture, "Santo-Luce is crazy this time of the year."

Shanira gave Mark a bit of a blank stare as he responded to her, noticing how he slowed his speech very much how Alexander did when he wanted to share something with her that he wanted her to understand fully.
"Mmmmm, yes! Master likes this one. I am been this one, I watch Master and Zeke go. Lots of fun, I like both of us going. I am think it nice to..." she seemed to space out for a moment as she stared at the sky and blinked for a moment, "...talk! Talk to Mark Fri, seems nice."
Getting to know who he was was something that was important enough to Shanira, if he wasn't as he said "the Solaris she was told about", then what did that mean aside from him saying he was strictly "Mark". Then who was Mark? Her curiousity was either going to walk away from him, or maybe...
"'Cray-zee'," Shanira suddenly spouted afterward, tilting her head and staring up at the blond man quizzically, "what is 'cray-zee'? It is good?"

Mark scratched his head, puzzled how he could explain the almost double meaning word. Instead he simply shrugged at the question, "In this case, yes it is. This will be great."
It became clear that they were approaching the festival, between the lanterns and the massive torches that lined the street, the area was probably a couple of degrees warmer than the surrounding area.
"So how long have you been protecting Alexander?" Mark asked as they entered the dense crowd of people. He wasn't much aware of how Felios's Guardians worked, he always tried to his best to avoid anything Felios related for the most part.
