Dios vs. Shanira - Round 1
An eerie silence hung in the air of the long since abandoned keep that laid alone and forgotten by times itself. Harbouring naught more then the vermin and swarms that rendered themselves invisible to the naked eye amongst the ever blacked shadows that hung against the dampened monochromatic walls, the usual stillness and silence that hung like the tangled webs that adorned every corner was broken, the figures suddenly seeing each other eye to eye as the wooden sconces suddenly came to life; the glowing and wafting flames giving light where light had long since vanished.
Shifting her stance slightly, a golden glow enveloped Shanira's arm before she blitzed across the hard stone floor at blinding speeds, her arm rearing back for but a moment before the golden hue cut through the air at her opponent. Much to the woman's chagrin, the blow flew arrantly across the air, throwing her off balance and leading her fist to connect with the large stone slabs the constructed the wall, causing flecks of debris and water to tear from the surface in a plume of glistening light.
Giving a quick sigh of relief as he gazed as his opponent from the Shadow Plane wherein he sat aloft, Dios pondered what he could surmise from the impetuous and powerful display. Not content to see it done once, Dios exerted his will over the shadows resting across the room, the staring figure that hid just beyond the torch light grabbing the Celestial's attention as she once again darted towards the figure in an invigorated effort to hammer her opponent into submission hard and fast. Her fist once again aglow with a brimming aura, Shanira firmly planted her foot this time so as to avoid the potential embarrassment of her last strike and swung her fist against the shadowy apparition, releasing explosion of light from her arm that dispersed the shade like a violent gut extinguishing a tiny flame.
Watching his foe, a sly grin crept across his face as a plan quickly formed. It was simple really, but not without it's risks, and from the displays presented by the woman, not a plan that left much room for error. Beginning initial steps, Dios culminated his shadow magic, binding the denies of the shadow plane, and summoned them amongst Shanira. With glistening gazes that pierced the darkness, the humanoid creatures hastily shifted towards Shanira to begin their assault. Drawing her sword, the Celestial woman effortlessly dodged the beings lumbering swings and parried their dagger-like fingers before riposting with lightening reflexes as her blade sliced through the shades with nary a hint of effort. Turning her head swiftly to either side, Shanira called out to all corners of the room, her words aiming to cut and dig at her opponent for his cowardice, a gesture that might've served more purpose had they spoke the same language.
Giving little care to what words the woman might be uttering, Dios simply called forth another set of creatures and set their gazes once again on his opponent. Repeating this process several times, Shanira continued to cut down the beings with ease, her combat prowess serving her well as she became acclimatized to the creatures patterns and strikes, moving without need for thought as she continually defended, dodged and hacked the beings out of the Material Plane, but such comfort in battle really worked against her, as in a calculated maneuver Dios himself sprang from the shadows, his large butterfly knives digging deep into both her forearm and bicep and sharply intruding on the rhythm she had set against the repeated waves of sluggish shades. Grimacing for a not even a second, Shanira pivoted sharply as her blade sung through the air to meet her opponent, but he along with the shadowy assailant had all but dissipated, leaving only the large daggers that hung in her arm to serve as proof of the assault.
Tightening the grip on her blade, Shanira still felt confident that even with only one hand to wield her sword that such cowardly tactics would stand little chance against her speed and her combat prowess. Slowly catching wise to her opponents tactics, Shanira maneuvered herself closer towards one of the still lit sconces, realizing that the shadows themselves seemed be her opponents main source of power. As she gained ground towards the flames illuminating glow, the shaded patches of the room sprang to life, each one darting and weaving towards her in an obvious effort to try and keep her from the sconces bright flames. Easily perceiving the swift and sudden strikes with her heightened celestial perception, Shanira herself blitzed through the shifting forms, effortlessly reaching the sconce, but putting it out by virtue of the harsh force generated by her sudden powerful stop.
Taking not a second to grimace or panic, Shanira redoubled her effort and reached one of the still lit flames, taking due care to avoid extinguishing it, and receiving the boon she perceived it would grant, as Dios once again dove from the shadows, culminating the shadows around his arm as a blade as he swung down and met the flat edge of Shanira sword. Struggling only slightly with only one arm against what would've otherwise been a simple strike to brush off, Shanira and Dios hugged their blades against one another; Dios trying hard to press his blade down closer and closer towards Shanira's shoulder. In a spirited grunt, the celestial pushed her blade against her aggressors, shoving it away with a sudden and strange bit of ease. With a sly grin Dios simply stuttered, "Got'cha"," as a black and inky duplicate of the emerald haired man shifted out of his chest and drove it's own large butterfly knives into the woman's legs.
Giving a sharp cry, Shanira gripped Dios' still extended arm and pulsed with a sudden violent burst of light, blinding the man before culminating her magic once again around her sword arm and channeling it through the hilt of her blade as she drove it deep into the man's stomach in a sudden violent thrust. Sent flying through the air with no hope of anything but the wall breaking his sudden velocity, Dios was saved only by his ability to phase into the shadows that clung to the vertical surface, a cold, damp and invariably solid surface that would've pulverized the man given the incredible speed he was travelling.
Hacking and coughing as he tried to catch his breath and deal with the pounding sensation in his gut, Dios spat out the blood that filled his mouth before he eyed the woman venomously from the ephemeral haze of the Shadow Plane. Stifling his anger as best he could, Dios could accept the rather egregious error he'd made, as he had almost everything he needed to end his foe in place. The initial waves of foes gave Dios the opportunity he needed to disable her one sword arm, while her decreased power in having only one fighting arm gave Dios the strike to her legs that he needed to hamper her speed, but those were just small parts in his over all scheme. Having superhuman perceptive abilities and a natural glow gave Shanira no need for the light provided by the sconces, and in not needing them saw little importance in them being put out, something that Dios had been leading her to do step by step, till only a single light remained; the light the Shanira now stood under.
With a room of nothing but shadows, and the woman's speed and strength subdued by her wounds, Dios began what he believed would be his final assault against the golden-hued warrior. Calling forth the powers of Ouroboros, Dios cast forth one of the metallic heads through the shadows to strike at his adversary. Thought easily dodged, the woman was suddenly met with another, and another, and more still, till a single jaw clamped down tightly on her abdomen. Channelling her divine might into her sword, she swung down hard against the chain-like structure attached to the creature, but even the powerful and explosive blast of light seemed ineffectual against whatever manner of creature this was. WIth a sharp and sudden tug, the chain whipped and slammed Shanira against the hard, flat wall, extinguishing the final source of light in the room, leaving only the soft glow of the Celestial being herself to illuminate the all encroaching darkness.
Focused on trying to fight against the metallic beast latched to her, Shanira could do little to stop the sudden onslaught, as one after another, the infinite heads of the shadow serpent darted from all corners of the room and bit their jowls down hard along the woman's limbs and torso. As all the chains were suddenly pulled tight, the glowing visage of Shanira hung aloft amidst the encircling shadows, her hazy vision catching sight of the broad grin of her adversary as he rose from the shadows and berated her ears with a slow, patronizing clap.
"And so our little game has come to a close. Where's all that piss and vinegar that you had at the start of the match?" Dios mocked as he casually walked up his ensnared pray, doing his best to play down his wounds. Pulling his daggers from her arm and tucking them back into their respective pockets, Dios slowly plodded backwards, his hand outstretched as the all encompassing shadows began to close in around the pairing. As Dios' mocking expression faded out of the encroaching blackness, Shanira struggled and fought with what strength she had left, but to no avail, as the darkness compressed violently against the woman, quickly wringing what little fight and consciousness she had left in her.
With a sudden relighting of the surrounding sconces by some unseen force, Dios stood with hand outstretched as the orb of condensed darkness before him gave way, letting Shanira's body fall limp against the damp grey floor, once again ushering in a familiar silence to the dark stone corridors of the ruined keep.
