Player: John
Name: Milicia Lunestise
Occupation: Queen of Crepusculum Kingdom
Description: A woman in her 40s, time has aged her well, with only a few wrinkles on her otherwise youthful-looking face. She has green eyes, and her hair is a dark brown, yet a few grey strands have given it a silvery tint in places. She usually is adorn in her royal vestments; a long and flowing ceremonial white dress, with patterns of black that fade in and out from shades of grey in-between. She wears little jewelry, save for a single gold ring on her right hand and the Twilight crown. A woman far removed from the battles and wars of her kingdom she has no visible scars or markings on her, save for a strange tattoo she has engraved on her back. If she’s able she never, ever lets it be seen by anyone.
Outside of her royal duties she wears a unisex uniform that allows her to move freely and comfortably. With a blend of reds, yellows and black the outfit has an air of regal dignity to it, from the sleek knee high riding boots to her duelist coat.
Age: 43
Personality: Milicia is a queen of her people. She is a reserved woman who puts her kingdom above all else in her world. While the Rune of Bonding had for a while put her in an eternal conflict with her own feelings(see History), its repair has given her great insight into herself. As such she is capable of showing great generosity to those she values, and equal fury to those that would try and harm those people.
Alignment: Good
Equipment: A few hidden blades (in case of assassination attempts) otherwise nothing.
Weapons: A single Estoc, that she’s been trained in use as part of her combat training.
Combat: While skilled in formal fencing since she was a young girl her training never gave her more than average prowess with the blade. The weapon allows her to strike quickly and with precision, but is easily parried and hard to inflict severe wounds to seasoned veterans of battle.
Magic: She relies on the magic bestowed upon her by the Twilight Gods. With both her years of practise and the amplification of her spells due to the Rune of Bonding she is a powerful spell caster. As one who uses the Twilight Gods' magic she is capable of using both defensive and offensive magic. Though either can be brought out through verbal and somatic components, her training in the ways of holy magic taught her to awaken the spells through dance steps.
Flaws: Without being buffed by her light magic Milicia cannot hold a candle to a seasoned warrior in close combat. In addition a lack of any armor and a defense that relies heavily on movement means she is unable to take nearly any damage before requiring healing, and is weak to fighters that emphasis a speed based style of fighting.
As mentioned above she is a woman who places her kingdom above all else in her world. As such someone strong and ruthless enough to endanger her kingdom can very easily blackmail her.
History: Growing up as a girl in the royal castle in Crepusculum, Milicia dealt with the daily lessons that a lady of the court should be expected to. Fencing, writing, music, politics and debate to name a few, yet unlike the other children of lords and ladies she loved her studies. The prospect of being queen of a kingdom as lovely as Crepusculum filled her with excitement, and she endeavored to be the best she could.
The only lesson that ever gave her trouble as a child was the lesson of the orb. She can still recall her tutor holding a ball in front of her. The ball was half white and half black, and the way the tutor held it Milicia could only see the white half. Despite her constant protests that the ball was white the tutor insisted that it was black. Eventually the tutor showed her the other side and said, “As a leader of Crepusculum you must always see every side of a dispute. The world is made of white and black, and only by finding somewhere in the grey between can you see the world for what it really is. That is our kingdom’s way." The lesson stuck with her, but it wasn’t till she turned 16 that Milicia truly experienced what her tutor meant.
Though she was always happy to spend time with the members of the court, one person always made her truly smile to see. Her father’s head mage, Esmir Tolm was a strange and eccentric man, and he claimed to be able to see the future. While he was indeed skilled in the arts of light and dark magic, his claims as a prophet were scoffed at. The only one that ever believed him was Milicia herself. It was one night as Milicia was waiting for him for a late lesson that he came in frantic and shaking from something. He claimed he’d see Milicia assassinated in the future by a powerful warrior, and that he needed to give her a great boost in power in order to stop the future. She agreed hesitantly, and so Esmir performed the Bonding Ritual on her.
The ritual itself was the act of tattooing an elaborate rune onto a person in order for them to better draw forth the Twilight Gods’ power. Milicia had never been skilled in magic, and the rune was said to be a special tool for the royal family that amplified their power when times of war called for it. What Esmir neglected to tell her was the cost; that the Bonding Ritual was dubbed such because it bonded the user’s body to the gods themselves. While some rulers were able to muster the strength to contain the incredible boost in their power, Milicia’s soul cried out in fear as she took the gods power into her. The trauma caused by the ritual fragmented her personality and thus the power she gained. She soon realized that her body rarely rested, with her personas merely switching from night to day. During dusk and twilight though she entered a mandatory trance where her personas could freely talk with each other before one switches out.
Eventually her parents passed away and despite her unique affliction she inherited the throne. To appease her people who feared the other side of her she would lock herself in the dungeon each night so the only ruler that remained was the pure and kind Milicia her kingdom had grown to love. Granted some people still feared the power her more ruthless side controlled, and as such assassins would occasionally frequent her castle. Yet the Ritual did its job and gave her the power to survive every time.
Sumata Arc
Things changed upon the meeting of her and Trucido. The man came in and tried to charm her into a group called the Sumata, whose goals were to destroy and rebuild the world in his image. Despite her declining in hopes the other kingdoms would follow her, she realized she stood alone in the world against Trucido. Lost in despair against Trucido’s goals, she did the only thing she could; she consulted her other half. It was her other self that took the ruthless side of things. “If he would bring ruin to the world, then we must bring ruin to him first. If we lack allies, then we must find them by any means possible. We must seek those who share our goals.” From her search came Yeligar, a once powerful general who she had thought died long ago. It was this chance meeting that revealed the existence of the heroes to her, and gave her hope that their world could be saved.
Fed up with the continuous attacks by the Sumata on her kingdom, the dark side of Milicia declared war on Ignis while many of the Sumata had left for Earth. The battle left them victorious, and with Ignis as a surprise ally after realizing that their king had secretly despised Trucido and requested his forces help Milicia against Trucido.
Finally her aggressive attacks against Trucido brought him with a great army to her capital city. While only a distraction to lure the Heroes away from Profeta, the battle was great. Victory was eventually claimed, but only at the cost of great damage to her city and army.
Vel'drazi Arc
After Trucido fell to the Heroes, Queen Milicia wished to find a way to unite the kingdoms that had aided her and the Heroes against the Sumata so something like the Sumata would never again happen. As such she sent invitations to Ignis, Roccia, Nerezza, Santo-Luce and Guasto to join her as allies under the banner of The Watchers of the New World.
