The Story Thus Far...

Hello everyone,

Have to admit I really like the addition of the History page, and its inclusion got me thinking that perhaps we might add a little something more just to help any newcomers. In taking a cue from anime, I thought a handy little "The Story Thus Far" page could keep people easily informed as to the major goings on in our role playing game. Of course the specific details would be something to debate with the admins, but at the very least we could use it to explain what major events have transpired since the start of our game.

Clearly not every single thread need be summarized in this, rather only the ones that contributed drastically to the overall plot. (i.e. thread where heros and Sumata go to earth = yes, thread where Chika fights Zeke, Donovan and Kouji = probably not) Just a suggestion of course. Let me know what you guys all think. Comments, suggestions, counterpoints, whatever you got.

I think it's a wonderful idea, and I'll certainly look into working on it sometime when I haven't just newly woken up. *yawn* Probalby later today or tomorrow, if Volk/Jess/Andy don't beat me to it.

As for major plot-changing threads, I can think of a few that I would call as such, add more if you think I've left any out. i can't start writing the page unless I have all the 'important' details because it would be really hard to go back and write more into the fabric of an already-written summary.

Things I think are important to the plot:

Each hero's introduction - actualy, only Active heroes, as there are a few characters on this forum that never really got anywhere, such as Dean Young, or Polyduekes Damon, or Draj (whose account was recently deleted) or Alice the ice-witch. I'd say the posts where Andy came to CR, Kouichi stumbled into Angelus, Angelus's introduction to CR, Kouji's meeting with Yeligar, Don and Zeke meeting Kouji.

The post where Andy meets Jas - Really. This spawned one of the best-loved couples of CR and y'all know it. Most importantly, it spawned one of the most do-something-with-the-plot duos on the entire forum.

Andy and Jas finding Kara - Also really, really important. Not only did it change the history of the world as we know it, but it added a third to that plot-altering group.

Some of Andy, Jas, and Kara's exploits - I'm not really up on these characters, so Andy's gonna have to help me here, but Andy and Jas have done a lot to keep the plot moving, so things like Jas's kidnapping and the quest to save her, etc. seem to make a list of important things, since I'm adopting the theory that every Hero that's actively involved is important.

Mark's Reflecting the Past posts - Seriously, not only do these give an insight into the character of Mark, but they also give an insight intot he most important Sumata, Trucido himself. Besides, the second one is the longest post on our forum.

Any Sumata meeting - These are what drive the plot on the villain side. They make the heroes' lives interesting. They decide what weapons of war the Sumata are using this time. They give us insight into the heads of every Sumata except Elexa, because she never lets nyone know what she's thinking.

Kouichi meeting Lana - First time a villain has ever turned to the good side (ssorta) and it drives later events in the Quest for the Relics, so I say we should include it. Also gives insight into Lana's history.

Angelus turning evil - Don't know when theis happened, but it's an important fact.

Lana's meeting with Rous and Ludro's killing of him - Really goes into the whole plot-ish Lana backstory thing, and the backstory of Nerezza in general.

The Old King's death in Santo-Luce - Goes into more Sumata story, and the SUmata are important.

The Ball - too many important reunions, etc. happendd here, plus it was our first Forum Event.

Kouichi finding his powers - goes under the Lana & Kouichi stuff, but, meh.

The portals opening - Sumata and heroes GO GET EM. YEAH. This is the opening oof our driving plot so far.

The Heroes Have Come - do I really need to explain this one/

The Unhappiest Place on Earth - Ditto to above

Mystery In the Magic World - Sorry if you guys think this is a little oasting of me, but... it's basically Miri's intro thread and it's going to turn out that she's pretty important in the grand scheme of things.

Tell me if you guys can think of anything else.

Alright thanks Alex. Definitely some good ideas here but I think we might need to redefine this a bit. Or rather I believe that I was a bit too vague in my original suggestion. What I had meant is that I believe that we need something to explain the plot of the story itself. Things have advanced some and it's rather hard to jump into the plot at this junction without knowing the key events since we started.

Now granted some of the character's individual interactions are by themselves important. Heck, most every post we've done is important in some manner or another, yet the key question is what furthered the plot of the main story. For example, while Mark's past event is important to him and Trucido it didn't advance the main story. As a general rule, I personally think that any and all past events not be included unless someone wants to add them to their profile under the history section. Makes more sense that way.

Perhaps a better example would be... meeting Kara. Yes she added something to the Andy/Jas team that had started, but did meeting her move the story along? If for example she was kidnapped and used in an evil ploy of Trucido's while the Heroes tried to rescue her, that would be very note worthy. But just introducing her, I'm not too sure about that.

That being said, I think what might work is just a straightfoward, one page max summation of the events that furthered the main plot, THEN should anyone want they can post a quick jot-note styled entry highlighting the important events they've taken place in. I'll use one of my characters as an example:

ZEKE OMOIHAKE:
-Arrived through portal to the world of Crepusculum with Donovan, landing in Guasto
-With the aid of Kouji and Yeligar ventured to Crepusculum Kingdom
-Joined with Queen Lunestise and her army to invade Ignis

Bam. That's it. Obviously he's something of a new character and hasn't done a whole lot but you can see the point. Really quick easy ways to edit and detail the goings on from major and minor perspectives as we play further and further into the plot.

What do you guys think? I've been a bit bored lately so if you guys want I can do the write up of the main plot and leave character specific details to those that wish to add them afterwards.

but then I remembered wait, I think you're referring to when Xisa placed that hex on her and she was laying in bed very ill while Andy, Kara, and Vincent went out to get the cure for her XD;; But as you said, you are not really up on those characters so hahaha.


ANYWAY, that's not what I was here to say. I'm just here to...help clarify things? Such as...SEIGMAND, DO YOU MEAN SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

A bunch of heroes came from Earth (obviously)
Trucido begins forming plans to create an anti-matter army?
The Ball happens were Trucido attacks the heroes (or...I guess it was only Andy) after midnight
Searching for stuff in Donnertburg and failing?
Trucido announces the Sumata go to Earth to search for relics in his master plan - which they do.
The hero group follow to stop the Sumata on Earth.


....something like that?
