*Mark sat in Santo-Luce, viewing the waves hit the beach.*
Unknown: Watcha looking at? *Mark looked and smiled.*
Mark: Hey, Harumi… *The young light red haired girl smiled back sitting next to him.* I was just thinking...
Harumi: About what?
Mark: You know what today is... don’t you?
*She frowned and nodded.*
Harumi: Yeah… I do…
It seemed all I was doing once I got free was go around and get banned from ever entering a city again… fall from hunger and get back up, I almost went back to Heaven but I told myself I could never go back… finally one day I finally lost strength and fell somewhere in Santo-Luce. I thought I was a goner but then she found me.
*The scratching sand seemed to go away, replaced by a soft and worth feeling, Mark opened his eyes slightly and looked around.*
Unknown: About time you wake up. *Mark froze, he didn’t recognize this voice it was feminine and Mark differently didn’t know any girls.*
*He looked to his side to see a young women, maybe 18 or 19, she had on a white heavy leather shirt and pants ((an armor of sorts.)) with a seal on it, that seal was the Santo-Luce seal, she was a knight at the palace.*
Mark: Who… who are you?
Masami: My name is Masami a proud knight of Santo-Luce. *She said with a sort of pride in her voice.* and yours?
Mark: My name is Mark Angelus Fri… *He said then was about to get up, his head hurt a lot from what he guessed he was overheated.*
Masami: You can’t leave yet, *she stopped him then reached for a glass of water.* drink this.
*Mark put the water to his lips and spit it out right away.*
Mark: Its salt water!
Masami: It’ll help, just drink it.
*Mark glanced at her then just sipped down a good bit of it.*
Masami: Did you get lost or something?
*Mark set down the cup.*
Mark: No…
Masumi: Where you heading back to your house?
Mark: No…
Masumi: Do you even have a house?
Mark: No…
*She frowned noticing she wasn’t getting anywhere.*
Masumi: Then where do you live?
Mark: Somewhere… *he got up.* Listen, thanks for the help but I’ll be leaving.
Masumi: Where!? *she asked as he walked to the door.*
Mark: Places. *he answered slipping on his black jacket which he guessed she took off to get him cooled off.*
Masumi: You’re one weird man.
Mark: I’ve been told… *he opened the door and walked through she followed.*
Masumi: You really shouldn’t be- *she was cut off when an arrow hit next to her feet she looked forward to see men in black armor rushing forward.* It’s the men from Nerezza!
*She reached for her sword that was strapped to her side when more arrows were shot, it seemed they were going to hit when they just stopped in place, Mark standing in the way a shield between the soldiers and him.*
Mark: Burn by the all mighty sun, Divine Cross. *Mark said coldly making the ground around the soldiers crack and light burst up burning the soldiers,* a suiting death for you…
*She gasped in shock watching the soldiers burn, was he from Santo-Luce? She’d never seen light power that strong before.*
Mark: Are you okay? *Mark asked looking over at her.*
Masumi: I’m fine, thank you. *She said with a slight bow.*
Mark: No problem. *Mark said turning away.*
Masumi: Where are you going now? *she asked fallowing.*
Mark: I don’t know.
Masumi: You don’t know? Did you lose your memory or something?
*Mark stopped and didn’t answer for a moment.*
Mark: Sometimes I wish I did…
*She didn’t speak after that, so Mark took a step forward… crashing right to the ground. He was still recovering from being overheated so walking in the second hottest country wasn’t the greatest idea.*
Masumi: Hey are you alright!? *She asked running forward and helping him up. He didn’t answer, once again knocked out.*
To fasten up this moment after I woke up I agreed to stay there for awhile. Even after my recovering I stayed, I don’t know why. Maybe somewhere in my cold heart I wanted somewhere to stay… anyway, she was gone most the time being a soldier in Santo-Luce with their enemies roaming in their country. So after a month I asked to become a soldier, she was hesitant to let me but she brought me to her king anyway. After showing off my skills I was put into battle field at a low rank ((due to me just entering their military)) and under Masumi’s command. Our battalion was given the order to kick out all Nerezza soldiers in Santo-Luce…
Sol, a town in Santo-Luce currently under the siege of Nerezza… 20 years till present day.
Santo-Luce Officer: Everyone get your heads- *Suddenly a dark magic flew into the soldier knocking him back, dead.*
Santo-Luce Private: There are too many of them! *The Private yelled keeping his head low behind a rubble of wood and bricks, to afraid to return fire.*
*Strong dark magic flew at the Private about to blow him and all the rubble away when a shield went over the private blocking the magic. It was Masumi, their leader of the battalion, fallowed by Mark who threw a Holy spell knocking away five soldiers.*
Mark: Everyone get up, if you hesitate to kill you die, they show us no mercy with their magic so send a massive wave that will wipe their scum off the Earth! *Mark yelled pulling the Private to his feet,* No turning back, alright!?
*Mark was WAY to used to leading his battalion of angels, although, there are some huge differences between human and angel, one angels knew no fear, they knew no mercy for their enemies. Humans are …well, humans. Many unfit for battle field.*
Santo-Luce Private: Y-yes sir! *He said, Mark let him go turning back to his enemies.*
Masumi: There you go, taking my command… *she said looking over at Mark.*
Mark: Sorry about that, old habits…
Masumi: You ever going to tell me what you lead? *She asked as a house blew into the sky ash and smoke covering the two armies view, the rest of her battalion gathered behind her.*
Mark: Maybe after we get through this.
Masumi: That’s what you always say… *she said smiling at him, although the ash and smoke blocked their view.*
*The smoke started to clear and their armies where up on their feet just as them.*
Masumi: Alright, this is when we put our swords to use, we might be few but we will win! *she took out her sword and pointed it at the other side who’s numbers seem to outnumber their ten to one.* charge!
*The armies charged forward ready to meet each other sword to sword.*
The next half of the battle seemed to take all day, although maybe about twenty minutes. We won, with a hell of a lot of casualties but we won. That night we talked.
*Mark sat on the roof the a house, the cool night air was refreshing from the heated battle field that took place right here.*
Masumi: What are you doing? *Mark turned to see Masumi coming out of the window he had just ten minutes ago.*
*Mark shrugged.* Just watching the night sky…
Masumi: Mind if I join? *she asked stepping up closer.*
Mark: Sure… *he said not looking at her, she sat by him for awhile there was silence.*
Masumi: Remember what you said?
*Mark glanced at her and nodded, cringing a bit.*
Mark: Yeah… I remember… *Mark nodded.*
Masumi: So are you going to tell me?
*Mark was silent, he closed his eyes.*
Masumi: Fine, it’s alright. Something must have happened, *she stood up walking back to the window.* I’ll talk to you later.
*She was about to exit when Mark stood up.*
Mark: I used to lead a battalion myself. *he said stopping her from going in.* That battalion was part of the most powerful, brutal but marvelous army that has step foot on this world.
*Masumi thought for a moment, Roccia was the largest country and possibly one of the strongest armies but nothing he described.*
Mark: We were given orders and we carried them out, if we were told to destroy a village full of children we would do it… no hesitations, no questions… no mercy…
*He closed his eyes, dark and painful memories of the past was brought up.*
Mark: What did I serve? I served Heaven and every order they gave out.
*She was speechless, confused, and doubtful.*
Masumi: Heaven? So you’re an angel…?
*He looked at her his eyes red.*
Mark: You don’t believe me?
Masumi: I’m not sure… *she was afraid to answer that one.*
Mark: Fine, I’ll show you. *He closed his eyes once more and then put his hand to his head taking a deep breath and moving his arm to his side quickly two, white wings coming from his back.* There, those are my wings.
*Her eyes were wide, she couldn’t take her eyes off the two extremely bright wings. She took a step to him.*
Mark: Do what you want, call me freak, throw me out of this army, I don’t care anymore. *Mark said as she kept walking forward to him.*
Masumi: Mark, I don’t think you’re a freak, I never have and this isn’t about to change it. *she grabbed his hands. Mark opened his eyes and looked at her, for once in a long time he didn’t feel alone and cold he felt… like a human. She leaned in and kissed him, he was a bit surprised at it but then returned it, nothing stopped them, the night was at peace, they were at peace.*
After that we made a promise that once our battalion finished it’s objective we would resign and leave battle forever. And that’s what we did, one year later. Soon after that we got married, found a permanent home and then had a daughter, her name is Harumi Fri. Life seemed to be so great then, I hear the worlds of Solaris anymore, I was free of him and any burden he caused me… that’s what I thought at least, really? All it needed was a push… that’s all. When Harumi was four we decided to go out to the beach, many people were there celebrating the end of the great war.
*16 years till present day.*
Harumi: Mommy can we go into the water? *Harumi asked looking at Masumi.*
Masumi: I don’t know, what do you think, Mark? *She asked looking at Mark who seemed to be looking around in confusion.* Mark?
*That snapped Mark back.* Huh? Oh, yeah sure.
Something wrong, I can’t seem to shake a feeling like something bad is going to happen…
*Mark thought as they walked to the water. Then he suddenly felt something sharp enter his back, he gasped and looked over to see a man in a dark hood he quickly turned back to his family.*
Mark: Harumi, Masumi RUN! NOW! *He yelled to them as they noticed the man who ad stabbed him.*
Masumi: Mark! *she said taking a step forward to him when two more came out lunging at her. Mark turned sharply feeling the knife rip to his side but managed to thrust his palm into the man’s nose knocking him down, with that Mark fell to his knees and pulled the knife out starting to walk to the other to men when more came out grabbing his arms and thrusting a hand into his wound to make him fall in pain.*
Mark: AHHHHHHH! *Mark yelled feeling the hand inside him.*
Masumi: MARK! *She yelled taking her eyes off the two, but that was her mistake the two men plunged their knifes into her. Everything was in slow motion for Mark, seeing her drop to the ground barely breathing and his daughter getting grabbed, his pain was replaced with anger and sadness.*
Mark: NOOOOOOOOOOOO! *He yelled, his body started glowing with light making the two men let going of him. Mark turn to them and thrusts his hand into them a power that the god inside of him could do, Solaris. He turned away rushing to her. He got down on his knees right beside her, she could barely breath.* Hold on, just, just, Hold on.
*He could feel himself loose control, his voice slipping from human to Solaris. Tears coming to his eyes as his wife’s life slipped away and he was unable to move, he couldn’t even cast a simple healing spell.*
Masumi: Mark… *she wheezed out.*
Mark: Hold on, please I’ll do something!
Masumi: I’m sorry for dying on you like this… please know the years we spent together was like a wonderful dream… *she said her voice dying more and more her eyes closing.*
Mark: No, please don’t die, please! No, no, no NO! *his eyes started glowing white and he looking up to the sky and screamed out.* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
*The ground around him started to crack, light pouring out of it burning everyone around him, loud screams of pain came from around him as everyone around him burned, then, silence…*
*Rain fell on the cracked grounds, the dark skies leaving no hope to cling to. This was the power of Solaris. Mark opened his eyes looking around.*
Mark: Masumi… Harumi…. Oh god, no, I- I… *he hit the ground.* I… I killed them.
*He looked up at the sky… letting the rain fall on him washing the blood that was not his own off his face.*
* Then Mark stopped, he heard something, someone crying. He stood up and walked till he saw a young girl walking through the ash.*
Unknown: Mommy, Daddy! Where are you? *She yelled looking around, Mark’s couldn’t believe his eyes it was Harumi, she survived the blast? He rushed forward.*
Mark: Harumi! *He yelled stopping near her and hugging her.* Thank god you’re alive.
*She looked at him and wiped her eyes.*
Harumi: Daddy, where’s Mommy?
*Mark didn’t say anything for a moment, what could he tell her? She’s dead, I killed her, no not that.*
Mark: Mommy… she’s gone… *That was the only thing he could think of.*
Harumi: Where?
Mark: I… I… someplace better. *he said trying not to cry, trying to remain brave. She didn’t speak, she just cried.* I promise I’ll take care of you, no matter what I must do… Nothing will ever happen to you.
*Mark’s eyes flashed white with rage and sadness.*
And I promise that I’ll make whoever did this pay!
That’s how it happened. I’ll never forgive myself for this… never…
*Current time.*
*After she died I changed Harumi’s last name from Fri to Amaterasu for protection, I don’t know who is after me and I don’t want her caught in the cross fire. It was clear she inherited some of my powers or she would not have survived the blast. *
Harumi: Dad… are you alright?
*Mark looked at her and nodded.*
Mark: Yeah… I’m fine… I’m fine. *he said but she could tell he was not.* Could I have a moment alone?
Harumi:… alright… *she nodded going back into the house.*
Mark: I’m sorry… will you ever forgive what I have done?
*He said looking into the sky, no answer… Mark stood up and walked to his house, about to open it when he looked behind him once more then walked in.*
End.
That’s it, the Reflecting on the Past saga for Mark is currently over once Volk and I can finish the second that is. Mark went from being a young scared boy to a cold ruthless angel to a softer and happier man, and well, now the current day Mark which is a mix of both. Also the picture I used on this I did not make, I found it on DeviantART, it rocked and it fit this scene so well. Songs that helped me get through writing this are.
