Player Name: JESS
Name: Annabelle Fraus
Description: Standing at 5'5'', Annabelle is definitely a woman who has seen many things in her lifetime. Her eyes are a light blue, her hair is a long and silvery white tied back with a couple of golden rings, like two ponytails on either side of her head. She is adorned with the traditional charms/beads that one who worships the Twilight gods would and wears a long, light purple robe overtop of an even lighter purple bodypiece, equipped with a nice hood, finely decorated with borders around the sleeves and other outerparts of the clothing.
Birthplace: Crepusculum
Age: 62
Family: Reginald Lockheart (ex-husband), Hala Loque (daughter, deceased)
Jasmine Loque (granddaughter), Vincent Loque (son-in-law)
Occupation: Twilight Mage, active priestess
Personality: Having seen only too much of the good, the bad, and the worst, Annabelle is not extremely tolerant nor patient. When she wants something done, she wants it done now. At times, she can still be a sweet old lady and has great respect for the warriors and those who fight against *named Evil here*, but as sweet as she is she can be just as venomous.
She is very family-oriented and quite strict with her expectations for each and every member, and at times can be also very perverted especially when it comes to who dates/marries who.
She is sharp-tongued and expects the best out of everyone including herself, and is something to be feared when she doesn't get the best.
Alignment: good.
Equipment: She carries a magical staff that she created. It has no specific power itself, but rather enhances the magic she already has. (Ie: if she attacks, she could very well do double the damage she would if she didn't have the staff)
Weapons: *see above*
Combat: Annabelle is a scarily competent magic user, specializing in dark magic. Where her older age makes her a little slow, her mind is still very sharp and highly active, allowing her the ability to layer and stagger magical attacks of varying forces and effects. Her experience allows her to move straight into a strong attack as her first move, and even if it's somehow blocked her opponents are in for a raining hell of attacks that will distort elements and sometimes play with her opponent's mind.
She's more of an offensive fighter, building up quickly into a few spells that will bend one's mind or confuse them, and then hit with something very large and dramatic as a final touch.

Magic:
Jasmine and her grandmother are both Twilight Mages, which is one who has made a pact with the 'Twilight Gods'--Felios (of light, love, and perseverance), Asmalat (dark god, don't have other info on him yet), and Lares (the absolute balance of light/dark, and justice)--these mages are recognized by a carved in, scarred symbol of a star and half-moon on their left hands.
Each of these gods give the mage something to perform their tasks:
Felios gives them a small portion of his extensive bible, in the ancient language that the mage must learn to read in order to use his light/holy spells.
Asmalat grants an array of dark magic spells but forces the mage to engage in the dark art of spirit channeling and communicating with the dead. With their souls opened, at any point they could be overwhelmed or possessed by a stronger spirit or demons. The best, most effective way of warding off these spirits is by using holy magic (see: Felios's hard-to-acquire gift)
Lares waits patiently for as long as he sees fit and observes the mage's magic usage. After a period of time, he holds a spiritual meeting with the mage and passes a judgement on them, forcing their alliance with one of the three gods. If they use more light magic, they are allied with Felios, dark Asmalat, or if the mage has managed to perfect the balance between both magics, they are allied with Lares himself--an impressive feat that is thought by many to be unattainable.
When one is allied with one god, the magic and abilities they've been given by the others is not gone but dimmed in comparison to that of their new (and forever) primary magic, and the other gods will give them no more attention and should they ask for it, are mostly ignored.
Annabelle is allied and aligned with Asmalat.
Though a twilight mage, meaning she has abilities in some light healing magic, Annabelle is by large a user of the dark arts and a master of dark magic. She has enough dark abilities to be counted as a witch and though witches bring about painful memories from her childhood she's not the least bit ashamed or worried by this.
Annabelle's greatest and most loved spells include things that shock, stun, and rip through a body by force. She also likes to see her opponents melt. Her attacks are 'fun' in the sense that as she conjures them and thick, dark clouds form and shape to her will the screaming voices of hellish ghouls and tortured souls can be heard--it makes people flinch and cry, something she also doesn't mind seeing in her opponents.
Flaws: Annabelle has no flaws!
...
She's old, impatient, and dammit her limited range for an old woman makes her not a very physically strong fighter. You could clonk her over the head and she'd be out like a light if not dead from the blow.
History:
Annabelle Fraus' story begins when she was six years old. One of her earliest--and most haunting--of memories was waking up during the night to glass shattering, people screaming, and her mother stuffing an extremely large and heavy book under Annabelle's sleeping feet beneath her goosefeather mattress. Confused, she looked at her mother who's face was full of worry for only a moment before a mob stormed in and dragged her mother away and from there the curious Annabelle followed only to watch as her mother was murdered before her very eyes.
She never understood it, and even since then the little girl grew up as a bit of an outcast. For some reason everywhere she walked, people gave her strange and at times even frightened looks. The other children scorned her, and the world whispered behind her back, even her own father.
Eventually, someone had to tell her. The village they grew up in executed Annabelle's mother because they believed the magic she performed was done in the interest of pure evil. Pulling of and capturing of souls, preventing them from entering the sacred heavens, possibly even devouring them or handing them over to a great demon. The boy down the street died of a mysterious illness, despite one of the best healers' spells and charms working on him--it had to be her, they said.
Whether it was true or not Annabelle did not know. But as the girl grew the village cautiously watched her because she and her mother were very close and it was assumed Annabelle knew every little demonic trick her mother presumably did.
And one night when she was fourteen, during the village's spring festival, Annabelle Fraus grabbed a bag, slinging it over her shoulder and dropped in a few days' of food and water and made to run away. She had to leave the village that she was sure would someday also assume her a murderer like her mother. Before she did, something came to her mind...the book. When the village stormed the house, they tore down every one of her mother's books and burned them all, but there was one that was left untouched--the one that was hidden those years ago. Annabelle had kept it hidden and so before she left grabbed the heavy book, tossing it into her bag and then ran away that night.
She never went back, and when she opened the book she saw very well there were spells of all sorts in it. Information on the botanical world, alchemy, and magic white and black alike. This was a book that was most prized by her mother, and it was the only thing of her mother Annabelle had...aside from magic abilities of her own. In the next few years, Annabelle began to study magic almost religiously from the book until she turned twenty and began to practice her healing magic as she travelled the lands. In four more years, she met and married a man by the name of Reginald Lockheart, a man who was loud and obnoxious as he was cruel. He was an abusive man, both verbally and at times physically but Annabelle never left--after a shaky two years, a baby girl came into their lives that they named Hala. Peace between Annabelle and Reginald was lived for only a few more short years before Reginald became a slowly angrier man.
Annabelle made another run for her life again when Hala was fifteen years old and Reginald came home exceptionally angry. He gave Annabelle what he figured she'd deserved, but then took the rest of it out on an upset Hala. Finally realizing enough was too much, Annabelle waited patiently for Reginald to sleep before she slipped Hala a warm tea laced with a sleeping potion she'd finally mastered, and even a memory-altering charm. Loading up the sleeping Hala, Annabelle left Reginald and ran far away, eventually settling upon a small town only twenty minutes of a walk from the Shimmering Lake. Hala awoke, not remembering a thing of her first fifteen years of life, and Annabelle worked on recreating the girl's memory with fine lies.
Her name was Hala Fraus, her father was a good general who died in war, and they were going to settle outside of this little town and enjoy a simpler life.
A small home was built by the two ladies by the Shimmering Lake and from there Annabelle trained Hala in healing magic, insisting that the Fraus family was very well known for their magic and healing abilities. Creating a happy and seemingly healthy home, she encouraged Hala to invite weary and sick travellers and treat them well, eventually developing a delicate system in a medical line of work.
It wasn't enough, though. She had only the best situation for her daughter, but her past bothered her so. She'd kill Reginald if she ever had the chance to, but from time to time when she closed her eyes she could clearly see the horrified look on her mother's face so many years ago.
That terrible village. Or was it her mother? Annabelle had answers she wished to seek.
Hala was safe where she was. Annabelle gave her daughter a loving hug goodbye, telling her she had to leave on a self-fulfilling journey and to better understand the world and told her to live her life only the way a good, spiritual young woman should and she would be back to visit.
In Annabelle's adventures since then, she'd picked up all sorts of knowledge from people, places, books she'd found along the way, and eventually carved the Twilight gods' symbol into her left hand. She studied and strived to master the art of spirit channelling and as her magic grew she settled upon fine and powerful crystals and minerals she found in caverns to form a staff of a wonderful white colour that she still carries with her today. In her travels she's studied intensely magic of white and black, spirit channelling, and few techniques in battling with her staff.
After so many years, checking in a few times to learn her daughter married Vincent Loque, they had a daughter named Jasmine, he 'died' and then showed up again, and then Hala died, Annabelle is now actively searching for her granddaughter, Jasmine Loque--word has it that the girl has her own abilities herself and is starting to get a little attention after being seen with one of the heroes from Earth and actively taking part in the war against the Sumata.
Sumata Arc:
Annabelle travelled Allorum helping those who needed it in their quest to destroy Trucido Damnedblood. Particularly, her journey began to search for her granddaughter, Jasmine Loque. The girl had made herself the very same pact with the Twilight Gods that she herself did years ago but without the proper training Jasmine was going to very soon find herself unable to handle the dangers involved with opening her body to the supernatural world. Upon finding her granddaughter Annabelle insisted (and didn't take no for an answer) that Jasmine be trained under her.
And that's basically what she did. She took the girl for months under her wing to train her in the basics of what is to be a Twilight Mage and only encourages that she keeps up her training from now on.
Annabelle also patched up her crazy anger issues with Vincent in this arc, stemming back from her need to protect her now dead daughter and how Vincent "wrecked her plans" to keep Hala safe. Yay!
Nowadays? She's looking into retiring but needs the right 'bang' to go out with...
