Because you requested it, I'm letting you all in on my creative process in this post - posting all the stages Vaan's art went through before becoming his wonderful, glorious colored self, shown here - crepusculumregnum.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=artwork&thread=562
Inked only. Did some definition of lines I wasn't sure of and added a line I'd forgotten in the pencil drawing - the neck definition. I also defined his muscular physique ^^
I colored his skin first, because that was the one place I wasn't sure how I was going to do it. I'm not sure how it came out here, but in RL, you can tell that I mixed together two colors to come up with that tan skin tone he has. I also added shading here.
I colored his hair and his eyes. Now he's starting to look like his cute self~! *melt* .....I know. I know. But, look at 'im! That pale hair... that tanned skin.... Aaaahhhh~! *huggles*
*cough**cough**ahem**beats inner fangirl into submission*
I put some shading into his hair, but again, not sure how well it's showing up here. Also, one thing you probably can't see, is the way I shaped his pupil and put little dots to add sparkle to his irises. Man, the things you just can't get without the original... *sigh*
The last concept stage, as the last thing I do in ANY drawing is add the little details (and I was having problems figuring out what color to make his shirt). Nowhe looks almost complete, and my inner fangirl melts even more~! I chose that nice, rich light brown because it looks very much like leather, which is what he's supposed to be wearing. I also added a bit of shading on his skin that I missed the first time... *sigh* I'm sloppy....
------
Anyway, I hope you guys all liked this little insight into the artistic process I follow ^^ I dunno, I know it's kinda lame that I did this, but I kinda like to think it was just an excercise in recording creativity ^^
