Some plants do not need light to survive. In fact, some plants thrive in the darkness. It is from this darkness that a young mans power is born...
Name: Herba Maliciferum (a.k.a. Malice)
Approximate age: 23
Birthplace: A dark forgotten corner of Albersato
Occupation: Botanist
Story: An eccentric and assertive man, Malice has always been somewhat of an enigma. His dark disposition has led to more than a few questions about where, exactly, his loyalties lay. His childhood is anything but a mystery. Growing up in a family laden with wealth, Malice was educated from an early age in various topics. His talent was evident in his studies of botanical sciences, and, to the dismay of his tutors, geomancy. By the age of sixteen, Malice had blossomed into a powerful geomancer. Shortly after he turned seventeen, Malice, unsatisfied with moving rocks and growing trees, discovered another source of power within a fallen sorceress. As the story goes, Malice was visited by a dying sorceress who needed to relinquish her power to another before she could fall into eternal sleep. No one knows exactly which sorceress bequeathed her powers to Malice, but it is certain that her heart dwelt in an ancient and powerful darkness. After receiving the sorceress power, Malice fused his own geomantic power with that of an unselfish, and pure evil. Malice then disappeared for three years.
When Malice returned, he was hardly recognizable. His skin had taken on a greenish hue, and his hair had grown long and black. His once slight feminine frame had become muscled and, somehow, more graceful. All those around him felt his darkness emanating from within, but instead of fear, reverence took root.
Assuming ownership of the family fortune and estate, Malice began his career as a botanist. Within the next two years Malice had earned himself a respected position in the science community.
His accomplishments include pioneering the field of botanical sentience, discovering the "Malice Principle" (essentially, the relationship between living organisms and the "life force" and its role in determining survivorship), as well as engineering poisonous plants with military applications.
Malice's dark power was slowly growing within him. He knew this was true. The three years he spent alone were not in vain. He knew exactly how his power could be used. He knew the day would come that his power would be needed. and so he chose to bide his time, allowing his power to blossom.
So, what is Malice's power? well...
Malice has the ability to manipulate living and dead plant matter. He can also create seeds from his own body, not to grow a copy of himself, but these seeds can be grown into whatever plant Malice can imagine. Malice specializes in toxic flora, and will incapacitate his opponent with various neurotoxins, before subjecting them to a slow and agonizing death. Malice prepares himself for battle by growing vines around his body into a protective suit. This "suit" thus far has withstood bullets, fire, ice, and even the sharpest of enchanted arrows. Malice tends to only use his power in battle, but when faced against an opponent that uses magic, Malice will use vine whips to prey on the weak defenses of magic wielders. Malice's weakness seems to be, ironically, too much sunlight. Why this seems to be the case, no one is certain...
Appearance: Malice is about five feet eight inches tall. slender, toned build. From "Roses Red and Black" "Within seconds, the small vines had grown to cover his entire body, then receded to take the shape his desired clothing. Malice enjoyed appearing sexually ambiguous, and this outfit was a prime example of his taste. The vines had taken the shape of something akin to a satin ballgown, with a plunging neckline that ended right above the crotch, exposing his stomach and chest. Lush green leaves ruffled the edges of the collar, the largest part of which rested behind Malices head, and down the edges along his exposed flesh. The hemline extends to drag on the floor behind him, the color of the hemline is a gradient from green to black. The sleeves open up as they reach Malices hands which are taloned and black. Upon his feet grew large green heeled-boots that extended to his thighs, small thorns grew in a single line down the front of each boot"
