His medium length emerald green hair commonly hides beneath a charcoal fedora, as his sharp, slit-like eyes peer out from the shadows provided by his hat’s brim.
Birthplace: Crepusculum Kingdom
Age: 34
Personality: A pleasant, sociable person with a contradicting tone, making him sound like he's always planning something, or coming across as patronizing. Though personable and business-minded, Dios also possess a malevolent and rather vicious nature that he commonly keeps in check out in the open. Above all things though, Dios is extremely self serving, as all his actions are motivated by how he can allow himself to benefit or get ahead in the given situation.
Alignment: True Neutral
Equipment: A small day planner/notebook, pocket watch, and a silver coin.
Weapons: A pair of medium-large butterfly knives.
Magic: Harnessing a forgotten and powerful brand of magic, Dios possess the ability to manipulate as well as absorb shadows and channel them through his body as shadow constructs. Though his ability is not at it's maximum potential, he already possesses many different varieties that he can channel. As a byproduct of his ability, Dios has found a means of reversing the effect of his art, thus allowing himself to become absorbed by shadows and use them as waypoints for which he can seamlessly warp between.
Further more, since become host to The Lord of Shadows, Dios has learned several new tricks with his shadow powers, such as being able to tether his shadow to another person's and bind their movements, as well as being able to forcibly pull people into the shadow plane for deadly assaults. In the case of these abilities, overcoming them is a matter of willpower, just as it is a matter of Dios willpower when performing them, as well as him subduing his summons. Strenght only does so much, and only really helps when struggling against Dios himself. Escaping from the grip of the Shadow Plane is a matter of one's will, not muscle.
Though being able to channel many creatures from the Shadow Plane to do his bidding, they pale in power to several stronger shades with which he has made contracts with in exchange for be allowed they're powers.
-Ouroboros: A metallic snake-like creature possessing infinite heads. Each head is tethered via a chain-like fixture, allowing Dios to launch the heads, clamp onto objects with their steely jaws and drag them with the chain that resides by him. The chain and the creature itself is unbreakable by mortal means.
-Doppleganger: A strange liquid like creature that takes the shape of it's controller. Dios commonly uses this summon when he aims to go toe-to-toe in melee combat, realizing his lacking strength and constitution, and aiming to make up for it by having a second set of hands to strike, block, and distract. This creature can be projected bit by bit as needed, such as a lunging swipe of it's arm stretching out from Dios' abdomen, or can be fully projected from Dios, but only for short intervals before it is forcibly called back into his body.
Combat: Dios, used to playing the assassin, favours sneaky tactics, trickery, deception and fear in order to get his strikes in. Never one to try and fight face to face, Dios much prefers to hang to the shadows, literally, and stay out of sight, revealing himself only when he aims to sink his knifes into his target. When assailed by a more capable opponent, Dios exercises his control over the denizens of the shadows, and calls them, mostly to distract so he can analyze his opponents abilities, develop a counter strategy, play tactician with his shadow creatures so as to find an opening and strike. Ever the strategist and opportunist, Dios' greatest weapons are his guile and his analytical ability to quickly deduce aspects about his opponent.
Flaws: Dios is inherently egotistical, and tends to hold himself in higher regard in comparison to most people, namely in intellect, leading him to be cocky and downplay the threat that others pose him. On top of being arrogant, the man is also impatient and easily agitated by stints of low activity, leading him to sometimes make impetuous decisions that might seem counterintuitive to his methodical nature. In terms of combat, Dios is inherently weak, both in strength and fortitude, meaning the man tends to falter in most struggles of strength, and can take only a few hits before finding himself unable to continue battle. Though his control over shadows allows for some devious abilities to render foes inert or trapped, such things can be easily overcome by calmer individuals, as breaking free is a matter of willpower as opposed to brute strength.
History: Dios grew up a poor boy in the slum district of Crepusculum Kingdom along with his father, Magus. Struggling daily to make ends meet, Dios and his father took to scamming, stealing and other various underhanded methods to make it through each day. Eventually having enough of pulling small schemes, Magus took to constructing an elaborate ploy so as to provide them financial safety for the rest of their lives.
As the first part of their ploy, Dios was taken under the wing of the infamous assassin Nightmare under the stipulation of Dios becoming the heir of the assassin’s title upon his death. After training for many years under the guidance of Nightmare, Dios become a very skilled assassin, inheriting the ancient techniques and magic’s that laid at Nightmare’s disposal. Having learned enough for his father’s plan, Dios left his side, swearing that he would hold up his end of the bargain and keep the name of his master alive when the time came.
As Dios trained, Magus took to creating his own Private Investigation business and had established himself as a reliable PI. Having finished the first phase of their ploy, Dios and his father took to working together, letting Dios gather information, assassinate targets and plant information that would allow for Magus easily solve the cases each and every time. It was a genius ploy that provided Dios and his father with a nigh infinite well of money, allowing for them to live their days in comfort.
In time though, things slowly began to take a grim turn for the worse, as the constant framing and assassinations started to slowly effect Dios, causing him to become malicious and almost corrupt in his efforts to help his father in their plan. Eventually realizing the damage that his scheme was inflicting on his son, Magus refused for Dios to continue and took to performing legitimate cases. Having realized the error in his actions, he hoped that his change might absolve him of his past actions, but it wasn’t long before his past misdeeds caught up to him.
Eventually realizing the dark dealings being committed by Dios and his father, Magus was confronted by the Assassins Guild as he and his son were to be held accountable for the deaths of the innocents they had slain for profit with their own lives. With no going back from what he had done, Magus confessed that Dios was but a pawn in his master plan and opted that he be left out of the punishment, feeling his son had already suffered enough for his fathers actions. Convinced, they took Magus’ life and left his corpse within the Sarvo house as a warning to Dios.
Enraged by the turn of events, Dios sought out Nightmare to confront him about his father’s death. After getting nowhere with words, Dios lashed out and assailed his master, killing him in a rage. Realizing his mistake and how the guild would come after him, Dios pulled one last scam and laid the blame of his masters death on the man that slew his father, then took up Nightmare’s title as was agreed so as to deflect suspicion. Along with that, Dios also took up his father’s role as a PI to run his business as he had just before he passed away.
Years later, though he still honors his father by continuing to run his Private Investigation firm, Dios continues to embrace the life of an assassin bound by the code of the guild.
